Back in the Silo Again/Setting Up a Van Dale Silo Unloader
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 бер 2022
- As the title entails, Alan is back in the silo again and getting the silo unloader ready to run. The Van Dale Silo Unloader needs to be dropped in place and then hung from the hooks. After that, the cable is tightened again and slightly lifted up. It's a quick grease and oil job and it's ready to have all the parts put in place. After that, it was time to start it up and make sure everything is working as it should. The silage was coming down nice and smooth.

Love the boys being boys. 👍. You don't see much of kids being kids and having an imagination anymore. Glad to see no cell phones 😂. May God bless your family 🙏
The kids having fun with their imagination is priceless. Something that they will remember. Great video.
Another great video! Watching you interview the kids brought back some great memories. Nothing like a farm kids imagination! You are all so blessed.
I've done so much work on unloaders threw out the years but still enjoy watching them run!!! Nothing like good silage coming out of a silo!!!
Allen was so proud of what he did he put a feather in his cap!!!😆😂
Those kids were doing something few kids do anymore, use there imaginations. Good job. Enjoy your Sunday tomorrow.
When I want to kick back and relax, which is every day, due to age & retirement I watch Trinity Dairy my favorite internet farm channel. Alan always provides ample conversation related to his current chore & what will come next. The kids are fun to watch playing, asking dad endless questions that he answers with a father's love.
Trinity Dairy is a beautiful hardworking family farm.
What I like is the size of the farm it allows viewers to experience so many facets from milk cows to raising crops, harvesting, storage, the operation &
maintenance of farm equipment! The size of Trinity Dairy allows viewers to be a part of the everyday workings of the farm! I love Trinity Dairy! 🙂🙏
Thank you!
Perfect. The kids using their imagination is truly a brain builder and even more important is that you take the time and listen to your kids. That goes a long way to help them build self confidence in the world. Thank you.
Good to see there is hope that real men are still being raised in America! Love the videos, kids are classic, and I am learning patients by watching dad with them boys,
To have a kids imagination and positive energy. Love it. The world could use a whole lot of that. Trinity Dairy rocks. Thank you for sharing
That is the main reason why I think your channel is the best one out there, your not afraid of doing the work yourself, and your knowledge of things shoe threw God bless you and your whole family, by the way great start to the video your kids are just as knowledgeable as you are, shows threw keep up the great videos.
The kids with their tractor was great they be able to fix anything when older great video
Them kids are awesome keep up the good work
On the cable my grandfather used clothes pins that were painted hunter orange
Looking forward to more episodes of rare tractor fever. The host asked really good questions and the builders had a answer for everything.
God bless your family for all hard work you all do
Kids with great imagination!!!
Your boys 1953 tractor is the same age as I am! I'm in about the same condition!
🤣
You're going to have your hands full when those boys get rolling !
Love kids building stuff on farm bring back memories how you like your unloaders
These van dales have been very good
So cute!!! They did a great presentation. The imagination of kids.
Uprights are great feed storage and you don't have all the plastic mess or dependency that bags or bunkers have.
Kids have that paint fueled tractor, ah, imaginations are fun 😁. My kids tell me similar things. It is one of the best parts of being a parent.
Nice tractor they built, gotta love a good imagination. Good ol van dale unloaders that's what we used to have they were both long worn out when I took the silos down. I always hated setting up the tripod I was terrified the cable would jump out of the pulley up top lol. That nasty fear of heights always gets the best of me. Take care 👍
You have a beautiful family!
very refreshing to see children like yours useing their minds to create something instead of blowing something or somebody up on a video game maybe there is still hope for our future generations 10 thumbs up for your parenting skills God bless
really enjoyed watching the kids having that fun
Nothing like the smell of silage i miss that smell!!
Excellent video as always!!.
That brings back memories. We had a Hanson silo unloader but it looks like the set up is about the same. Good video once again.
Dude those boys are precious hold tight to these times you will long for it one day
Kids are awesome, enjoyed keeping up with you guys…..
Great little skit you did with the kids. Thanks for showing the up top workings of the silo machine. back in my kid days in the late 40's and 50's I guess it was forked down below.!!!
This is got to be one of the best and the funniest videos I've ever seen on UA-cam got to keep the kids in the video
Love those kids! Outside using all of the imagination makes for the best learning and memories. Stay safe and God bless.
Three future farmers!
Back in the silo again, back where a friend is a friend.
God bless you too. Keep feeding America!
Brings back lots of fond times!! I bought a cheap set of walkie-talkies to talk to my Dad who was down below when we would get ours running, beat pulling the plug in a pinch so it wouldnt throw sparks!!
Lol that’s great them kids are having a blast looks like a replacement for your brother trade it for his tractor
Boys like this give me hope for the future!
your boys are grate makes me miss mine
Must also have one incredible mother also,
Always good to see your videos sir.
Great video Alan! Saw and read about you and yours in the Dairy Star. I told Ray that you mentioned him in the paper and I'll get him a copy. Good luck this spring and talk again
Those three young farmers of yours sure have a great imagination. That should result in some innovative engineering ideas like their father's some day. Those pigeons up in your silo sure like to decorate everything. I remember when I was a boy feeling a strange sensation on the top of my head. When I put my hand in my hair to feel what it was, I regretted it. My older brother said it was the way pigeons defend themselves.
Yes, he was not aware of a feather in his cap.
How cute are they what an imaginations
I hope them three Hillbilly’s from podunk town are in some more videos they where just great!!😂
Thank You for sharing your family with us 👍👍👍
Good job and God bless yall 🙏
Your son has a big imagination!
Awesome children ❤️ with excellent old tractor information 👍& good cattle feed Silo though old but i believe still working #
Great video Yankce- Doodle i!!! AH i mean Alan!!! Sorry saw the feather in your cap!!!!! You look hip!!!! Thank You!!!
Awesome boys.
Freakin love it, your boys are so much like mine. God bless😊
I always wondered how he got the grain out of the silo I thought it was all gravity-fed and you did it by hand that is the neatest thing I ever saw.
Peter Pan in a silo 😂
I really like seeing that unloader work!! Now I know nothing, and will try to make the question make sense🤦 How does the mechanism work to keep lowering it? And the doors, you habe to open new ones as it lowers? That is so cool, Imcould watch that thing work all day!! I have seen Shane fight so much this winter with his do to the frozen silage on the walls, but I love seeing them work!! Looks like the little ones got a trophy tractor build going!! Thank you Alan for documenting the process sir!! Hope all is well!! 😁😲
There is a electric winch, on the silo, that is hooked to the unloader , and that is what raises and lowers it, and the door, yes you just open new ones, and keep working your way down. frozen silage is definitely a nightmare, in a silo!
@@trinitydairy Thank you!! I saw that winch, so you manually adjust that as needing while running the unloader? Sorry so many questions 🤦 I bet so, seems he beat and beat on the frozen stuff this year, I can see how that can be a huge issue! Thank you again Alan!!
@@Pennies_on_the_dollar yeah, once the amount of silage, coming down, gets really lite, then I just turn the winch on for a few seconds. The old winch, used to be in the feed room, and that just had a hand crank on it, but the cable broke, so I put the electric one on it.
@@trinitydairy Thank you makes perfect sense!! Really appreciate the info sir!! Look fwd to more!!
Hi Alan, You should grease it up before you fold up and raise the unloader, just a few less things you have to take with you to make the climb.
Package in the mail for the mechanics
Wouldn't it make more sense to do the maintenance when it's empty right before you run it up to fill
Sometimes I do, but the gearboxes always seem to leak a little over time, so I wait to check them before I run it.
Man that's a nice tractor where can I get me one of them at I like to learn about them old Silas how that stuff works that's pretty cool hope you guys are doing good the milk cows are good your families Health can't wait for the next video Trinity Dairy I love it can't wait to buy some merch ran into a real hard spot with this whole covid and the trapping season and everything really sucks but Stay classy stay cool stay warm God bless
Pretty cool, your boys all set and ready for spring tillage!! A Farmall running on John Deere green paint?? Why not.... There's always no better satisfaction to me then putting something together, greasing it up, flipping the power on and having it run good. Especially when it has been sitting awhile. How long you figure this silage will last?? 3-4 months??
Yeah, maybe even a little longer, if we have decent pasture, this summer.
How cute
Trinity Dairy should have milking parlor it’s a back safer
If you crank it up a few turns before you shut it off it's alot easier on the capacitors
Looks like Alan's barber is on vacation 😁🤭
No, he's transitioning.
Hahaha 🤣
I hear that his mom is really good at cutting hair 😊
Invest in a clean chute. Those save a lot of mess in the chute for a guy
👍👍
Man, that brings back memories! Do you have trouble with it leaving a pile in the middle under the blower? We always did and you'd have to climb up and pitch it out of the way or it'd slip the drive wheels.
I have had that trouble, if I don't have it balanced correctly, it has to be higher in the center and slope down to the wall.
Looks like a rare tractor to me. Biden would like that it runs on paint, instead of gas. Biden likes to paint things to look better than they are. This tractor has potential to be a classic.
In a few years your boys inventions will have actual running engines and you will be trying to find your tools. 🤣
Great video, you have some awesome kids. Do you have a silage Cart? would save on your back
I would like a silage cart, but I don't think I have enough room in the barn, to move it around.
Looks like a silo-matic unloader?
It's a van dale, but probably similar.
How are the cows doing on the new silo corn?
They are doing really well, we dried off three cows and we were worried the pounds would drop but they went up
@@trinitydairy it’s always nice when that happens 😁
How's the cows looking today allan
Looking good
@@trinitydairy better then bad
I would bet, Alan, that you are enough of an electrician to be able to reverse the electric motor on your winch?
When you are unloading and feeding out of the silo though, do you put the crank handle back on to count revolutions for lowering the unloader? Or is there a mark on the large belt pulley for noting revolutions...
Yeah, I can reverse it, but I have to take the motor off to do that, right now, it's set for lowering, so when I need to lower it, I just turn the motor on for a few seconds, and when I need to raise it all the way up, I have a big electric drill, that I can hook to it.
what kind of unloader do u have Allan, kind of looks like a Patz
looks like it is running good
This one is a Van Dale
👍👌🇨🇦❤
The kids to to get patent on there tractor.
what size silo do you have iam putting a 12x42 up
We have a 12x50 and a 14x25
@@trinitydairy it's been hard to find a unloader for 12ft wide silo but I managed to find a badger unloader to make work no more baleage or bunk
Is it ring drive or surface drive?
@@trinitydairy surface drive
@@andersonsfarm4456 I had one of those, in the 14ft silo, it worked good, but it was kind of a pain to fold up, when I had to raise it. better than a pitch fork though! Lol
Lol kids imaginations
Paint is about $50 a gallon, so figure out how to make that tractor run on manure instead.
