Hey Guys, loved your genuine reaction. So, "Sid and Nancy" is an important reference. Sid Vicious was the most recognised front man of the seminal punk band 'Sex Pistols', that changed the face of music, gave permission to musicians (and non-musicians) to 'do-it-yourself' and embrace anarchy. To work outside of the music industry, and to forgo the 'hook' and 4/ 4 structure. To cause chaos and thrive in it... artists such as @renmakesmusic wouldn't exist without the 'Sex Pistols'. Then... Sid murdered the love of his life, Nancy Spungeon, in a drug-induced psychosis... and this begs the question: how far is too far? They lived a completely co-dependent life and he ultimately died of an overdose. Does love have to be that destructive? So... our culture doesn't stand outside of ourselves.... it is the story of our lives and Sid and Nancy are intricately a part of our intimate and cultural story... and even they are our... Power!

He's mentioned abusing booze and smoking weed. Chalk Outlines had him singing about picking up habits, even if they only help for a while.
There's no way he doesn't know the short term joys of coke. London is the coke capital of Europe. The rest of the country isn't that far behind.
I don't know though he's talked about addiction and abusing drugs previously, I'm almost positive I've heard him mention opiates so I believe he was probably on pain medication and abusing it because of all of his issues but obviously I can't say for certain I just feel like I read that somewhere
Sid Vicious was the bassist for the Sex Pistols. He couldn’t play the bass but he had the look so he was hired. His girlfriend was Nancy Spungen, a groupie. Both heroin addicts. After the Pistols broke up, they went to a hotel in the N.Y. Sid woke up one day and Nancy was stabbed to death in the bathroom. He said he did it but also that he didn’t remember doing it. There are conspiracy theories that drug dealers actually did it, but it was most likely him. He died a few months later from a drug overdose.

The Sid and Nancy reference reminds us that at 16 we find rebellion and high drama magnetic - and in certain circumstances it is the only life we can relate to. BUT - maturity lets us look back and see that our maybe if we had idolized strong, resilient folks we would have had a better start on happiness and success.

Sid Vicious was a bass player in an iconic British punk band started in the 1970s called The Sex Pistols. He died from a drugs overdose aged 21..his girlfriend Nancy Spungen was just as crazy as him..she was stabbed to death aged 20 supposedly by Sid though he wasn’t convicted..it was supposedly a death pact..proper rock n roll Romeo & Juliet story

Love this song! Really enjoy your reactions, I subbed a while ago and keep coming back. Notice how the image is flipped so the driver (who is Sam, his videographer) is on the left side. Smart, to get a bigger audience comfortable with the music, as most of the world drives on the right side of the road. Sid (Vicious) was in the Sex Pistols, Nancy (Spungen) was his girlfriend, a highly toxic relationship, OD/suicide, if memory serves. Icons of nihilistic punk subculture.

Good spot, I just thought the car was left hand drive! Hard to tell with the narrow streets, but now look closer I can see that Ren is on the kerb side. So the camera is flipped when it's the inside view, but normal when looking out in the journey through the streets at the end. Shows that the even if the budget is small, attention to the smallest details can make a difference.
The main video is shot in Brighton. The streets facing forward are Bristol I believe.
The driver is Samuel Perry-Falvey. He’s the videographer for the one-take videos and some others too. I don’t think the video was purposely flipped for an american audience. Most of Rens videos done on his phone are flipped if you watch them on insta. This is a very British sounding track. I often wonder if the american reactors get it. I liked when you pulled up the song words. Feel free to ask in the comments as if you don’t understand something, I’m sure others won’t either. This is a song that I could understand word for word from the first listen and it’s definitely in my top 5 Ren songs, but maybe the song I actually listen to the most. I find it really uplifting. 🐇🕳️🖤

You guy's really need to pull up the bars Ren has pinned in the comments, because I really think you're having a problem with the British accent and end up missing what he say's and losing some of the meaning behind it. A lot of Americans get thrown off by it if the don't hear it that often. Having the lyrics will allow you to reference them, instead of guessing what you heard.
