- I built the Revell F14-a Tomcat. It's a 1:144 scale plastic kit with flappy wings.
It's a Jet! I don't normally do these... but why not. A change is as good as a holiday, right?
Not a bad kit, really. I was actually kind of surprised by that.

5:45 That thing under the nose is the pod housing the TCS (Television Camera Set, a high-magnification optical sensor that lets you visually identify enemy planes beyond normal visual range). It also houses an antenna for RWR (Radar Warning Receiver)

The F-14 vertical tail surfaces have a _very_ slight outside lean - so slight in fact that it pretty much coincides with the vertical tail surface's taper so that the outboard surface is vertical while the inboard surface is at an angle
I would recommend the revell 1/144 scale harrier gr.7 it is really small but everything fits together nicely

This was my first model kit I bought for myself ~20 years ago. I still have it somewhere at my mothers flat. Unpainted of course :).
Yea, the f14 does have a slight v tail design
Did you know Battlefront are using the Revell plastic kits for Team Yankee now? They have replaced their (frankly dreadful) resin and metal kits with plastic model kits. I picked up a Revell Harrier GR7 kit to review, as this is one of the moulds now being used by BF. Looks like a nice kit.
I had no idea. But that actually sounds good. I like plastic so much more than resin and metal

Please dont buy any more 1/144 kits from Revell or otherwise. There are modellers out there who like and indeed specialise in 1/144 kits. Slapping a good 1/144 kit together in this half assed manner just detracts from the 1/144 hobby generally. There are loads of well presented builds of this and other 1/144 kits that serve to inspire hobbyists. This is just an insult to the kit - which is one of the better examples of an F-14.

There's a half-built one of these somewhere in my basement that I've had since 2006. It has survived 2 moves and yet remains unfinished.
I know you said you're not a plane person, but in case you're interested VF-84 is a squadron, not a single plane; within that squadron you have the decals to number your plane as number 200 or 203.

If my brain stored the information right the small rockets are "Sidewinder" AAM for short distance (up to 9 km), the next ones - what you assembled next, that's why I call it "next" - are "Sparrow" AAM for middle distance (up to 25 km) and big rockets are "Phoenix" AAM for long range (up to 100 km). The F-14 was an interceptor so it got only AAM.
And I am quite sure this model will end up pink! 😍
Interestingly enough, the F-14 was designed as a multi-role replacement for the F-4 from the start! It had an Air-to-Ground HUD mode, bomb arming panel on the RIO:s side and the weapons selector had an Air-to-Ground position (The switch Tom Cruise flipped when he said he was "too close for missiles, switching to guns").
It's just the lack of funds that kept the F-14 in Air-to-Air role only up until the 90s.
From the cheap Revell jets I can strongly recommend the 1:144 Harrier, but their tanks are also very nice (especially the T-34/85 1:72, one of my favorite kits ever). I love your videos, love the smell of exploded rivet counters in the morning, and would love to see you build a ship of some sort!
