I visited Pattaya and its not family friendly place. It draws in thousands of expats for the reason you described. The beer is cheap which is good thing, but I found the pollution bad. Their's little opportunity girls to works, and many of them come from poor farming background.
I would/do NOT hang out in any place where there are overrun by farang (or foreigners, laowhy, tourists), more problems, more crowded, more crimes, more troubles. Also, they screw up the local economy by driving up prices. Look at Barcelona, Spain, Bali, Indonesia, etc. OVER tourism.

Yes, I do not judge the women who work there, nor the people who go their looking for happiness in their old age. Not the place for me.

Agreed. I do tend to avoid them myself. I prefer living in local areas not being overrun by tourists.
