I Love you... Great Tutorial. For some reason, I just couldn't get the puff stitch right watching other tutorials but you made it absolutely "Dummy-proof". Awesome!!!!
I love your videos by the way, thank you so much for sharing! I don't live in a place where I have a lot of access to people who can teach or classes, so I learn at home and you share so much!! Greatly appreciated!
I was just crocheting a beanie and had five rows and then this popped up on FB so decided to watch and now will turn this beanie into your wonderful puff stitch hat, thanks so much.
Thank you for this video! Your explanation of measuring the crown made perfect sense! I've been messing with it, and after watching this video it finally made sense! Beautiful work!
I just wanna thank you for all of your videos. You have pretty much taught me to crochet! Almost all of your videos are in my favorites and I've liked all of them too =) I'm about to make this hat now!
It's funny how it was sort of a mistake but has turned out to b one of the coolest things I've made! Thank you for posting!
I am so happy I found your video.
i love how u did the single crochet then chain one it make the hat look so much better! i do the chain 3 and i dont really like they way it turns out
Thank you for the tutorial! You're an amazing teacher. I'm making this hat right now; it is giving me a bit of greif, but I love the look so, I'm willing to deal
You are the best crochet teacher I've seen ♥ Hope this works with my superdupper thick yarn (:
im so glad this pattern poofed. i was looking for a slouch hat :D. i really do love your videos
Thx I am using a g hook and I just added two extra increase rows and its seems to be working out okay. Thx bobwilson123!! Your tutorials are awesome!!
HI, when I use 8ply/DK yarn I use a 4mm hook, when I use the worsted weight yarn I use a 5mm hook, I have loose tension and find the smaller hook give me nicer even stitches
When you change the yarn thickness and hook size, depending on how much different your yarn thickness it will make a difference, but if you use the same yarn and 1 size bigger/smaller hook it will make a slight difference...sometimes this can be the difference on having a hat fit or not
hope this helps you
Yes I would try that and see how it goes :)
Yes that should help
i just made it. it came out perfectly. i really like it. thanks so much.
You are very creative! Thank you for the informative videos, they are so easy to follow!
I just used a bigger hook and added some extra rows and it came out perfect :)
I love your tutorials! You are awesome and so informative. Thank you so much :)
LOVE IT!! Can't wait to make this!!
why is it that your hats always looks so soft and comfortable and my hats become really stiff?? btw, love your tutorials :D
yes :)
Just thought I would let you know I love all of your videos. I have recently taken up crocheting again because I am poor and Christmas is coming up. I made a mini top hat for a snow man because it snowed a foot today and I would like to make a snowman. Anywho...I enjoy all of your videos and keep them coming :) Subscribed!
That is so cute! I hope to make one just like it. Thnx!
you should make a video on how to end a hat
by the way, thank you sooooo much for your tutorials, they help me so much
- crocheting fan ^.^
I love your tutorials! Thanks a lot:)
It can be, you will have to figure out how to increase with the puff or special stitch to make the crown of the hat grow. Its just easier to make the crown first and then start the fancy part. thanks for watching
So pretty...thank you for the tutorial
EEkkk try using a smaller hook, mine was pretty flat also it start to curve up after the first dc row after the first puff stitch row
Love your tutorials. Very easy to follow:-)
HI there, use a smaller hook and it should start to curl up :)
Yes if the puff stitch is too tight it will be hard to get though all the loops :)
I love ur tutorials so well explained thankyou very much ill try thus one out later :) have a lovely christmas x
First of all THANK YOU so much for doing these tutorials. You're a great teacher and I really appreciate that you explain everything clearly and with great patience. :) I learned to crotchet with your videos! I just have a question: generally, for most of the hats, what size needle do you use (I know it depends on the yarn but do you have a preference)? The one I have is a 3.5 and it's going great but I wonder if it'll make a dramatic difference to use a larger needle size/yarn size? Thank you!
hi there if you search - Hat / Beanie Crochet Tutorial - Almost Invisible seam
this video will show you how to make the top of the hat
thank you for watching
There is a annotation in the video that will take you to the video to make the start of the hat at the 1:30 point in the video
really great tutorial
If you wanted JUST the puff stitches it would be a lot of changing colour, you could do the whole puff stitch row in a different colour.
HI there, you can use the hook that is recommended by your yarn label, i think it is a I hook ?
Yes i show you how to make it so it has a row in between at 20.41
Hi there, if you have finished increasing and you have 72 stitches, you will have 72 stitches for the remainder of your hat
if you search, join yarn crochet, you should see a video to help you
@sylvislellis77 YOU ROCK !!!!! thanks again x
Hi , if you are talking about a hat then I have one called
Crochet a Basic Beanie Tutorial - Half Double Crochet - Preemie to Adult size
this is in a spiral, its one of my first videos and is not as good as recent ones
@sylvislellis77 THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!! I really really appreciate you doing that. It saves me so much time, you have no idea how much.. well I guess you do the same amount it takes you to write it lolol thanks again

BESOS DESDE ARGENTINA...!!!
Thanks!!
@craftcrazy35 hehehe Its only been up a week so you didnt miss to much :)
Hey again! I found another slouch hat video tutorial on UA-cam by Tracy Nguyen: it's the beginners version of the chunky beret. She crochets REALLY loose and I was wondering if you could make a new video of her pattern with worsted weight yarn. If you can I will be very very pleased thx!!
@sylvislellis77 Hi , sorry but i do not have this video's written out yet ...slowly working my way though them :)
Thank you so much for the tutorial, I am new to crochet and aim to make this hat a slouch beanie. I have followed all the directions and was wondering, is it normal for the stitches to go from 72 to 100? After the first puff stitch row, the stitches went from 72 to 100... Also, I am almost running out of yarn and have yet to get past a third row after the increase, how would i connect another ball of yarn (same color) to the hat?
Hi Clair, I've done this hat following your tutorials and I love it! I get so many compliments, I want to make another but make it a little different. Instead of having the crown part as shown above, I'd like the crown to be puff stitches too. Is the concept of increasing the same with puff stitch as it is here? I want to use a pattern that I've found which requires a row of hdc between each row of ps, how do I increase?
Any help you can give would be appreciated. :)
What yarn are you using ?
I have not seen her video so I am not sure
I have seen a puff stitch that was done with triple stitch and have not found it again yours is the closest that I have found do you have a tutorial with the triple?
do you have a video please where you teach how to crochet in spiral ? thank you
could be your yarn and maybe your stitches are to tight, try using a bigger hook :)
Hi there I am not aloud by youtube rules to make a video on someone elses
Okay should I just try using a bigger hook and thicker yarn??
I've always wondered - why can't the puff stitch (or any other special stitch, for that matter) be done after the first or second round instead of after the crown is made? Just wondering.
HI, I do not know how to make an adult sweater sorry
ME ENCANTA, FELICITACIONES, SERIA GENIAL QUE FUERA SUBTITULADO EN ESPAÑOL..!!!
Ty
G'day Rosa Matos thank you and you are very welcome, thank you so much for watching my video and for supporting my channel
so, when ur hat starts too get wavy, what do u do, go up or down a needle size?
Hi Claire, I have a question. After doing the first puff stitch and the dc round and the 2nd puff round, I have a huge flat space with no curvature at all, so Im really stuff and not sure what to do.
@diiz101 or should I just use a bigger hook??
Hello, could you please tell me if there is a way to work the puffstiches in a different colour? My little niece wishes a beanie like that, but since i am beginner, i dont know how or where i have to chance coulour. Thank you. Greetings fom Mina ( Germany)
I would like to make this hat but the color I want is a 4 ply yarn(worsted). What size hook would I use??
i dont know if it is how tight im doing it bit my yarn wont come through all those loops in the puff stich!
will there be a written pattern for this any time soon?
Hi!!
Is this hat good for men as well?
FREE written pattern - its about half way down the page
www.bobwilson123.org/hats.html
can i do it all puff stich?
how many rows are there all together
gracias muy lindo 9/07/12
okay i followed everything but my hat is flat and im using a G hook wat do i do ?????
how can i make the crown ??
How much yarn do I need?
Please help! This is my very first hat and although your instructions are super easy to follow, it seems as though I have messed up somewhere along the way? I'm on row 12 and my hat just looks like a giant dollie? When I try to fold it in half to see if it resembles a hat, it just doesn't, just a halve of a circle! What did I do wrong? I really do not want to take the whole thing apart but I'm afraid I may have to, can you help? Please and THANK YOU! ;)
It sounds as though you are doing the right thing for the crown of the hat. That part will always just be a flat circle, now to make it into a hat you need to stop doing the increases (the 2 stitches in the same stitch) and it should start to take on a hat shape,
SOMEONE HELP!!!!
I am following the directions, but my hat is just a circle rug...it isn't creating the bowl shape of a hat...what's going on ???? what did I miss?!
Can I buy this. The only ppl who r making that design in that color don't have it on a selling site like amazon or ebay. So can I buy it or...?
BriettaPolly Hello, I am soryr but i no longer have this hat ad I do not make items to sell
4ply ?
I got every confuse, because when you did the first roll of puff stitch you never mention to do a roll of double crochet.
I made the crown from your other video then I went into the puff stitches with this video and it's not turning into a hat, it's just flat and the ends are all wavy. What am I doing wrong? I'm not making an increase.
I just checked the video again, and I'm doing exactly what you had said to do, it's just not turning into a hat. How long does it take before it starts turning into a bowl?
Can you please post a photo to my facebook page? It will help to figure out whats going wrong here.

Hello, you can find it here - its about half way down the page
www.bobwilson123.org/hats.html
Where is the crown video?
+SUZYB13 Hello, you can use this video ua-cam.com/video/55Vgz8mD1HQ/v-deo.html
@sylvislellis77 hate to be rude but if you write them out may i have a copy of them .. my email address is bobwilson123@iprimus.com.au :)
There is something wrong with the sequence of this video because I followed your steps and it does NOT look like yours at all. I also notice that you make two row of puff stitches at the beginning and at the end it has a double crochet in between!! ????
Oh no ! oh wait i think mine was the same ? Can you email me a pic or make a video responce ? bobwilson123@ iprimus.com.au
I love your videos so much. My skills went from minimal to expert in less than a month because of your videos, and now I plan on attempting to sell my work. THANK YOU! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!! :) :) :)
