As per my understanding, Ganesha should be kept either in East, NE, North or West Direction. I also got to learn that Ganesha should not be facing the South Direction..
So, my question is, if I am placing the Ganesha in my room in North Direction, then it faces the South Direction, which should not be the case ..

First of all, there should be no ganesh ji at the entrance of home. Secondly, yes color of ganesh ji do matter.

Firstly, you have to check the direction from center of your home and not each room.
Secondly, it is best to keep 1 ganesh ji in east and all rest in west.
