    Pacha which means “The Great Mother” is made using buckwheat which is naturally gluten free. Buckwheat is not a type of wheat, officially it’s not even a grain. It is a seed that is harvested from a flowering plant that is related to rhubarb. The kernels are shaped like little pyramids and are similar to grains from both a nutritional and culinary perspective.

    Thanks for that share Tami. I've been fully whole plant food vegan for 7 years. Began that transition from a standard American diet in my early 50's, and your videos have helped me immensely. Love your channel and deeply appreciate all the hard work you and your husband put into your videos. They are excellent and well thought out. I appreciate the alternate options you recommend.
    I'm temporarily off wheat flour products and have been experimenting with gluten free bread and pasta products. I have managed to find some pretty great gluten free pastas. However, I have recently tried one variety of gluten free bagels by "The Greater Kneads". They were the smallest bagel I've every encountered in my 6 decades of life. The texture after toasting was extremely disappointing. Very hard and dense, lacked a typical soft interior bread like consistency and outer crispiness. I haven't tried any gluten free loaf breads or buns yet, so I'll give your recommendation a go. Thanks so much for helping us get 20% off too! Your the best!!!🙂❤

    Thanks so much for sharing, Tami! I ordered a variety box and so far tried the tye. I love buckwheat groats, and sourdough so I was very interested. I really like it! I do open face sandwiches so far. I cut thinly, toast it (crispier is tasty but I liked it lighter toasted too! Has a nice sourdough nutty flavor.

    Why not make your own fermented buckwheat bread? It’s as easy as ordering online. Nutriplanet.org has a very simple and delicious recipe that I have been making for the past 5 years…

      I think it's great that you bake your own bread! Thank you for sharing the recipe link for those who would like to make their own bread. This Pacha bread is for those of us who don't have the time in our schedule to make one more thing or for those who are not yet cooks, those who are overwhelmed and just adapting to this new lifestyle or their family life and work schedule are such that they don't have any extra time. There is a time and place for everyone and everything.

      Shipping is expensive for this small mom and pop operations and they can't afford to absorb the cost. The bread is worth the price!

    It looks delicious and of high quality, but too salty for me as I would eat too much of it in one sitting. :-( I hope that they will make a sodium-free loaf in the future.

      The buckwheat is sprouted. The bread is baked.

    So, would Chef AJ eat this bread? It's sprouted buckwheat, so it's similar to Ezekiel? I just won't eat flour products but this sounds like it's not the same. I just don't want to order, then love it then find I'm gaining lbs from it.

      Chef AJ talked about this bread on one of her shows. That’s how I first heard of it.

      I agree, a little pricy. When I want bread and don’t have Ezekiel I use the recipe from Whole Food Plant Based Cooking Show to make buckwheat bread. It’s delicious and toasts well. It does have more ingredients than this bread but it’s WFPB compliant.

    • @NutmegNotebook
      @NutmegNotebook  10 місяців тому +1

      Chef AJ did eat some of this bread. Would I eat it every day - no but once in a while it will be a very nice treat to have. It is the cleanest ingredients of any prepackaged commercial gluten free bread I have ever seen. Everyone has to decide what works for them - we are all our own experiment.

      @@NutmegNotebook Thanks... yes, I follow Chef AJ's SOFAS free but in maintenance, but I'm so wired to not eat the bread or any flour at all it's hard to think of a "bread" that is one that I could eat at times. I do have Ezekiel but only 1 or 2 slices every few weeks. It calms my stomach as I have a nervous one. And it's very pricey for bread.

    Okay, now I am confused, Tami, do you now consume Myokos cream cheese? That contains Coconut Cream! Highly fattening and 100% pure saturated fat. Are you not following the WFPB SOFAS Anymore?

    • @am100ish
      @am100ish 10 місяців тому +1

      She said it was Kite Hill cream cheese, which does not have oil. The main ingredient is almonds, so still probably not the best for weight loss, but better than other vegan options.

      @@am100ish Boy my ears are bad.. thank you for the correction. I was wondering why she'd eat something with coconut cream! You know when you're aging when you hear something that wasn't what I thought... lol

      @@NutmegNotebook LOL... sorry, I had a senior moment (lately getting them a lot!) I still wouldn't consume myself as just to high in calories but saw the ingredients which have no coconut oil. My hubby still eats faux cheese/meats so will have to pick one up for him to try. I just try to get him to not consume anything with coconut oil.
