Should preyed in the brake caliper piston before you did anything, that way the entire brake pad would had come off just fine after you removed the disc brake bracket bolts.
Hi. I've taken my 1999 Lincoln Navigator into the mechanic twice, and spend thousands of dollars on suspension work, to have a LOUD "CLUNKING" noise repaired -- but the problem still remains. The noise happens occasionally -- usually when I pull out of a parking spot. When I turn the wheel right, and begin to move forward, It sounds like the front passenger side makes a HUGE, LOUD, "CLUNKING" noise, as though I am rolling over a BOULDER, and the vehicle strains to accelerate forward. What could the problem be?
Definitely the axle, the universal joint I. The axle is bad and or they never properly snugged the axle nut. It is a smaller than usual nut and only needs about 22lbs or torque. Very common for mechanics to over torque and destroy the axle and then this will happen.
@@GarageMahalLife My Navigator also began making a new "CREAKING/TWISTING " noise AFTER all that work was done. The noise occurs when I turn the steering wheel left or right. What do you think could be causing it? CV Axel, or something else? It sounds like the noise described in this video below.... ua-cam.com/video/j0pEp3yVS4o/v-deo.html
@UCidXkUTcuK2YuUYWMDbilsQ Definitely the CV axles, if they were repaired once, from what you described, the part was defective or they used super cheap parts...
@@johnnygotti3556 Be careful, on some of these the axle nut spec is wrong. If you have a smaller bolt I believe the torque specs are low around 20lbs. Specs call for 200lbs, which if it is the smaller nut/bolt it will tear it apart. Anyway some common sense here. Small bolt or nut, lower torque. Larger bolt or nut, higher torque. Be safe

Good tip
What is the torque on the nuts that go from the axle to the transmission?
Depending on the model 35 to 60lbs. Specific to the year...
Whats the sucket size to removed the axle nut?
Depending on the model axle, 36mm

So, how do I prove the mechanic was at fault for over-torque, and he's responsible for damage to the axel?
