    I got kicked off my sled on c4 right by camp 4 last night. Have all the hygear springs in for my weight but no rebound to accommodate it. Called southside this am and they were super helpful. They sold me used xcr shocks valved for my weight and said they will ship today. Very happy with customer service from them and the information on your vids.

    Hi Jesse. Thanks for the great videos. Have a question going to respring and revalve my 21 Matryx launch edition. Planned on going polaris heavy duty rear torsion springs then Hy Gear dual rate on the other 3. Was wondering why you Bruce chose to go with Polaris single rate springs on ski shocks. Thinking it's for a more positive feel/feedback when corner. I go 260lbs and ride aggressive so I'm looking for best bang for the buck.

    • @JESSEJAMES322
      @JESSEJAMES322  Рік тому +1

      hey! if your 260 I would recommend going with the trap springs that came out this year along with a revalve for sure. I have never run the dual rate ski springs. I would like to try them this year I just never tried them which is why I dont have any info and run the single rate (which does work well)

    Another great video. Thanks for putting these out.
    I can vouch for how much of a difference valved shocks make. Had them done on my pro-s and the difference was night and day. Crazy how good that thing works on the trail. I’ll definitely be looking into getting my ‘23 XCR shocks done.
    It’d be nice if you did a video on Bruce’s set up on his XCR.

      Yep, rewatched a bunch of those last night. Looks like HD torsion springs (I have a ‘23 so it should have those) with a revalve is the ticket. Mine still seems a little rigid in the small chatter so I backed off the low speed a couple clicks and will see what it does this weekend.

    I’ve said it before I’ll say it again why Polaris put a boost in anything but the XCR is ridiculous. VR1 has Smaller cheaper shocks, smaller springs a 2.86 pitch track with less lugs on the get that added power to hookup. At this point we all know the 9r is going to be in the next XCR which is preferable but would have been cool to have both options.

    • @JESSEJAMES322
      @JESSEJAMES322  Рік тому +1

      now i do agree to an extent, the XCR suspension still needs work also. That stock valving is just as bad as the valving in these. I would like this have 2.52 pitch track but as far as suspension if it was XCR trim it needs help also. Plus side on an XCR is it comes with HD springs and 100 pound front springs so the starting pointy is better!

    • @mobilewintercamp7515
      @mobilewintercamp7515 Рік тому +1

      I agree with you guys but I think it’s a simple answer. As far as aggressive riders you are correct. Most riders don’t want a stiffer riding sled. Most people suck. Think about how many clowns are in this sport and just have to have that big power for ego and will never use it until they’re on the biggest of straight runs or smooth lake. It’s a shame but that’s what it is.

    • @jethrobodine011
      @jethrobodine011 Рік тому +2

      Exactly. My buddy bought the boost assault and on the trails that thing is a big useless turd. I can eat lunch while I wait at the intersection with my 850 XCR. Having big power on the top end doesn’t mean anything if you can’t turn it. Will he blow by me on a lake. Sure. But that isn’t where the thrill comes in it’s going into corners fast and controlled not having a sled push so hard you have to slow down to 20-25 mph to turn it.

  • @21crookedstick
    @21crookedstick Рік тому

    kind of had a theory that the reason the stock VR1 was not as good in the corners was due to the needle valves in the front shocks. I feel like it allows the outside shock to dive a little causing a slight tippy unsettled feel. Night and day between my wife's VR1 and my XCR. Did you eliminate the needle valves or just stiffen them up?

    • @JESSEJAMES322

      100 Pound front springs. The VR1's come with 80 pound springs and they're lucky to even hold the sled up statically. yes we valve the fronst too but springs make a huge difference

    So Polaris is essentially selling us sleds that don't perform correctly? If the difference is that great then we're getting bogus expensive shock packages that suck the way it sounds. Not sure what to make of that. Doesn't make me happy for the 20k I spent! That I do know! Making them for a wide range of riders doesn't hold up either if they're that bad.

    • @JESSEJAMES322
      @JESSEJAMES322  Рік тому

      there is many ways to look at this. do we think they should be doing a better job of getting these sleds in the ballpark? yes absolutely. But years past when they release sleds with proper valving then 90% of the people say theyre too stiff so thats why we get these watered down shocks

    • @hermitrob5481
      @hermitrob5481 Рік тому

      @@JESSEJAMES322 Agreed. People have an overinflated image of how they actually ride. “The best” isn’t the same thing as proper performance for what you actually do. I just think Polaris should market much more emphatic on what does what.

    • @remistrailcamvideos6306
      @remistrailcamvideos6306 Рік тому

      Part of the problem is that the shocks aren’t coming in to spec in the first place. Having shocks with low oil and charged at 100psi or less when they’re supposed to be 200psi is a problem. Most people don’t even know what they have to baseline from so you have to rebuild them just to know what you have then go from there.
