I once saw a Tumblr post on Katie's perspective.
Basically, she was (and is) full-on planning on killing him and taking the inheritance. He meant absolutely nothing to her, he was just something to be thrown away after he has outlived his use. She never ever loved him for one single second.
But... Knowing he never loved her _either,_ caused her more pain than anything she ever experienced.
I mean it's the principle of the thing, she was planning on killing him and absconding with the gold, but how dare he use her a rebound
@@emmabyrne9274
"I was just using you to get your gold! You were using me for what? Second choice!? No, wait... Was I even a choice? Was I just a convenience for you? Were you marrying me in the hopes of making someone who doesn't even care about you jealous, is that it?
Dob, did you even felt anything for me? At all? Yes, I pretended to love you for the money, I absolutely played with your heart... So what were you doing with mine? *She* doesn't love you, nor has she pretended to even _like_ you!
I at least gave you that comfort... And here I learn it all meant nothing."
Hell knows no fury such as a woman‘s scorn. 😂

hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...
Well and let’s note this is DOB… who loves, like, everyone. So knowing that he didn’t actually love her must have had an added ouch value
Andy pointing out Katie Pearlhead has the same syllables always gets me
It's Prudence's quiet follow up with "We're going to get our heads chopped off" that makes it for me.
@@Stephen-Foxand dancing simultaneously lol
@@bustinarant I swear there's a meme format in that.
top text: "When you know someone in the party is doing something that will get you killed"
bottom text: "but you're enjoying the shenanigans so much you just can't help but jive to it"
“We’re guna get out heads chopped off” while happily dancing
My favourite part of this whole bit is that Luke had no idea how the song was used. He was just warned to have a song prepared and this is how it turned out
I'm waiting for the day that Dob fulfils his destiny as a true bard, and cheeses the entire epic Lilliana bossfight by attempting to seduce her and rolling a nat20.
That's not gonna happen even if he tries and gets a 20. I don't think Johnny is the kind of DM to go "oh you got a nat 20? They immediately fall in love with you"
I want him to play this again in their last fight with Liliana and prove himself the one true bard.
@@nahuelmat I think Nat 20 would be “I’ll kill you, but I won’t torture you first”.
He _did_ already try to seduce her the first time they met.
I think a Nat 20 in seduction would get him exactly NOT killed. 😂
That zoom in on Prudence on "ambition shouldn't be seen as a flaw." 😆
Jane/Prudences' completely chill"were gonna get our heads chopped off is ICONIC
I like to imagine Jane stayed in character the whole time. just picturing the dead silent audience with prudence just jamming out in the background is fantastic 👌
The scream I scrupt when he came out with that first name 😂
i think we all scrampt in shock at that part haha
I will eternally love that both of the girls are just vibing along while Andy and Mike are watching on with varying level of horror
The blank look of mental trauma on Johnny's face kills me every time I rewatch this. Thank you so much for making this incredibly replayable video.
Well thank you for liking it!
Johnny never stopped roleplaying as Katie throughout the whole song. What an absolute masterful DMing.
Look at corazon preparing the katie remark from the moment he starts singing
Johnny's reaction is one of the funniest things about it
Lyrics:
Liliana,
Listen to me,
Stop this madness,
Put down that kidney! (yeah!)
Oh, Liliana,
Oh can't you see!
Your iron grip on the land of G'eth
Has got a hold on me...
And I know,
That ambition shouldn't be seen as a flaw;
And who hasn't thought about cloning an army of Egberts?
You wanna have it all
But one look from you,
And they'd subjugate everything in their path...
But that's nothing to the way you've subjugated my heart 💓
[Instrumental]
Liliana,
Please see reason;
Look at my strong friends
And the bosses they're cheesing!
And I know
We can find common ground -
Maybe over coffee? 😚
I could show you the skeletons I've found!
We could compare armies,
We could make them fight and we could sing and laugh and play;
I know this doesn't have to end in a violent sort of way...
But if you go to war with us then I don't know where this ends...
Because I might feel differently if you killed my friends...
LILIANAAAAAA!
The fact he could have substituted Katie Pearlhead for Liliana and it would still have worked always kills me.
@@VivaLaDnDLogs except for the references to cloning Egbert.
That yeah! from Egbert fits perfectly. If they are to make a studio version, that needs to be included
technically, the "yeah" is from mike and not part of the lyrics...
it is, however, still my favorite part of this song...
What really makes this for me, the cherry on top of the bow is Corazon going "Okay, I'm going to start making my way towards the door..." before the song is even finished. He is not sticking around to find out, and I respect it.
I'm so glad you've taken this clip bc tbh I will be rewatching the episode a billion times, but there's smth so insanely funny about that first "liliana" that gets me every freaking time and I've rewatched this video like 10 times already lmfao
I absolutely loved this moment and I'm so glad they did it live. I love how Luke and Johnny have expanded on what was initially a joke about Dob trying to seduce the antagonist as bards as stereotypically expected to do and then it blossomed into this genuinely very sweet and funny dimension to Dob's character, and how that culminates in him pouring out his heart in this way!
I just love how much Ellen gets into it, Luke and her are a perfect duo haha
Probably thinking something like ‘This’ll anger that Pearlhead enough to leave, and I'm all for it!’
The look of pure unbridled joy on Ellen's face gives me life.
You won't get golden content like THIS from Critical Role!
yeah, they play dungeons and dragons instead...
@@SHADOWofJUSTiCE what?
@@orangutanfan3921I think they meant they play the game seriously
@@SHADOWofJUSTiCEnah critical role is too scripted and too rigid. Oxventure is a more realistic "friends playing d&d", where as critical role is a representation of people doing for a career.
Edit: yes i know critical role isnt actually scripted. It just feels scripted.
@@acelilumelody4445
the damn ox kids just play like gremlian in phasmophobia. irritating. plus, they forget so much. i blame this on johnny, too. deadlands they play properly, though...
Johnny’s face 🤣🤣
He did not expect that when he demanded Dob play.
Anyone else coming back to this after the final season?
100% Reliving Dob's best Bardic moments
I’m here to drown my feelings
This song so needed to be animated. Even all the interrupting bits.
Yes! If I could animate I totally would do it!
I know we know that Johnny warned Luke that he was going to want to polish up that song for this adventure before they asked them to sing something on a live convention stage but do we know how much of the Dob and Katie Pearlhead plotline Luke and Johnny discussed between each other outside of the game outside of that? Starting with "Who's idea was it that when Dob returned to the party he and Katie Pearlhead would be engaged?"
this hits different having just seen the last episode
I really want Dob and Liliana to be a thing, even for a moment
We know that liliana is watching everything they do... so is it canon that she heard this song?
She's not actually, it's more like, she sometimes does, she sometimes doesn't, it depends on how bored she is that day.
i maintain that she heard it and that fuels her rage even more...
I love how Johny is just shellshocked :D
I mean, yeah. They knew the wedding was coming up and Johnny asked Luke if he would write a song that Dob would write from the heart. I have no doubt the wedding was scripted to wrong, but I don't think this was the way Johnny expected.
Best song in the series.
I'm sorry for commenting multiple times but I love this song so much and massively appreciate someone making it a video so I can listen to it on repeat as much as I do
Absolutely no apology necessary! I'm glad someone enjoys it so much!
It's been almost a year and I've listened to this more times than I ever would have anticipated
@Sam Walker, finding this in my recs just made my day. You're the real mvp for uploading this.
Aw, that's too nice!
@@samwalker5756 yep, still loving it every single time
I'm sure there is a maximum number of times it's possible to rewatch this. Haven't found it yet, though.
they're great, aren't they?
So the fact that corazon pointed out dob could have easily substituted Liliana for Katie pearlhead and it still would've fit xD
Thanks for isolating this, I like the editing you did alongside it
Aw, thanks!
I want him to sing this to Liliana so she can respond by casting a spell to destroy his lute
Love this song and glad to finally have it on its own ready for the endless future listens 😂
(As a side note if you take requests would you do the ballad of Corazon as well?)
Did they ever sing the whole version? I remember Corazon passing the lyrics to Dob, who only sang a few lines, right?
@@samwalker5756 if you watch the end of Peak Performance part 4 Andy sings the whole song

Someone from our community sent me some chords he came up with, I altered a bit … and now I can play and sing the whole song on ukulele!!! 😄 (badly though lol)

Jane is one hell of a hype raiser.
@@bezerkoid "we're gonna get our heads chopped off!"

Poor Johnny, desperately trying to process what is happening… 😂
Great subtitles btw! Good job!
Used this recently for a karaoke party I was at cause I've got it totally memorized ,😂😂😂
omg that's amazing 😂
@@samwalker5756 They were amazed, and perhaps a little worried, that I knew all the lyrics 😂
Thank you I've added this to my work playlist and whenever it comes on I just laugh
I love this part of the episode! I'm so glad i found this
That this moment truly was not scripted and just happened to work out perfectly makes it even more hilarious and great.
As I understand it, Luke was given a headsup beforehand to write a song "from Dob's heart", though he wasn't told why and none of the others knew about it. So it's not completely improvised, but the context and reactions are.
@@awmperry exactly this. You can see the panic on his face when he's given the context for those instructions. It works, because Dob should also be panicking in that circumstance
There was collusion, and preparation. The new lute is Luke's. Because the other one was too heavy to always carry around. I'm catching up now and had to rewatch this. But I caught all the idle champions interviews.
But I'm sure the rest of the crew didn't know what was going to happen. And Johnny didn't know what the song was going to be.
I love this song so much, need it in an album
This is just perfect ❤️ thank you so much for this clip!
aw, thanks!
Genuinely one of my favourite ox moments ♡
This song makes me genuinly happy every time I hear it. 😄
how long did Luke have this one ready? Johnny just looking completely confused about what's happening is great too.
Based on the podcast, Andy says that Johnny told Luke to prepare a song, but there is little mentioned on what Luke was told to expect, and how much Luke told Johnny what the song would be about.
Johnny fully roleplaying as Katie Pearlhead throughout the whole song was great DMing
Apparently Luke had been told, before the live show, to make a song for some point in the campaign…
I don’t think Corazon understood the whole head chopping thing lol
