I've been a metalhead since I was 10 and have played in bands since I was 20. I'm 43 now. Esoteric Malacology has been practically the only album I've listened to for the past 3-4 months, and I am still nowhere near tired of it. It is literally one of the best metal albums I've ever heard, full stop. Just wanted to bring that out there.
45 here. Been listening to Metal music for almost 35 years as well, Mostly Death Metal (Technical, Melo, blackened etc...) , also playing the guitar and this band entered directly in my top 5 bands of all time when they entered my playlist 4 years ago. I'm listening to a looot of wonderful stuff every year (real bulimia) and must admit that from the day I knew Slugdge, I'm having hard times to find new things that aren't extremely bland and I'm coming back almost every week to our fella Euxton lads. To me they are akin to bands like Death, Atheist or Opeth (Death metal era) while been at the same time very confidential. With experience, I must say, during a lifetime, that there are a lot of band that we find great, and that we "like and enjoy a lot", but there are only a handful that we really LOVE. Slugdge is on that very short list for me. Can't wait for the new stuff incoming and would give a kidney to watch them live. 🤘Welcome to Mollusca World🤘
Haha some sweaty grebs from England sat at home in their traccys recorded best album of the year. much love! Been infatuated by this band since the release.
For the first few minutes i thought "wow! What an incredibly amazing cover, from all 3 of them!" only then to realise that this is the actual band playthrough! This was an absolute joy to listen to, so much talent in one video
It made me so happy when I saw him at Slice The Cake's "Live" session from 2020's Tech Fest at home. He is involved in two of my favorite bands of all time! Moat is Goat!
Slugdge is one of the greatest bands ive ever discovered. And now Alan,my favourite drummer of all time joins them. What a time to be alive. Thank you guys!
One of my top 3 albums of the year regardless of genre being performed by dudes in sweatpants and office chairs. I’m sorry I can only give this one like.
This whole album is amazing, I can't stop listening to it. It been a part of my usual rotation ever since it came out and was my introduction to the band. This song though, I can't get it out of my head, it's really good. The intro drum riff with that bell ringing out repeatedly is addictive. I'm really looking forward to whatever you guys put out next and hope that Matt can let his riff writing chops shine through again on the next release.
Slugdge has honestly become my top favorite band, the melodies you guys achieve give me goosebumps! Thank you for putting your amazing art into the world!
When you hit that first drop, at 1 point your wrist synced with the shutter speed of the camera and it looked like your hand was bending the fabrics of reality. That was the coolest s*** I've seen this year ..Bravo
Love this band. You guys are truly something else. Salt Thrower is my favorite song off of Esoteric Malacology. Was hoping maybe to see a playthrough of it. Otherwise I hope you guys come to California so I can die happy seeing y'all play live. Thank you guys for what you do.
I own 1 7 string guitar, 1 drum set and 1 bass guitar and it happens to literally be the exact same gear you guys are using. I have to say, you guys have great taste in gear!
I love how Alan is checking his emails when he plays. Such a rock star, lol. /s And Moat seems like hes the happiest man in the world playing this. I'd be too. :)
i just came across this band, more specifically album, and was sad to see that the most recent thing is from 2018. i hope y'all get around to making more music sometime in the near future.
I have been listening to this album almost non stop for about three weeks now. Best progressive death since Persefone's Aathma imho! I just had to let you know! Can't wait for a full band album!
Ive been listening to this album solely for weeks now, cant stop. IT Just pushes all the buttons. mean at 2:00 from brutality to dragging suspense, how one instrument after another drags the other into a new part and then transform at 2:50 . To then fly of again in a meaty symphony.. I hear these parts in my head when im at work and then i just haveto sneak away, put on the headphones and go away to dreamland. Just freakin awesome. What is your background music-wise? Im born in 84 and have been in love with metal since the early 90s. Maybe one can go to music school and learn all this but i doubt it, to me this is a beautifully woven web of vibrations and battery. I know being an artist is not the easiest today, but I really hope you guys will hit the road and come up north to Norway and/or Sweden and play some music!
We're both from the 80's, into thrash and then onto grindcore, Napalm and Carcass, and US bands like Morbid Angel and Deicide. Big fans of euro melodeath and black metal too obviously! Quite a wide range of tastes now of course, but that's what we started jamming early on!
Awesome! You guys really have to start playing live, hope to get to see you one day in Portugal! Another thing, please do a playthrough of The Spectral Burrows, please please please!
first before I say what I want to say, thank you for this great music, you guys have achieved what I can fathom of the highest level of metal. If anyone says or ranks you below another band they are striaght up wrong... now thats out of the way.... SHOW ME WHAT TO PLAY ON GUITAR DAMNIT I NEED A TAB BOOK *insert fry meme* TAKE MY MONEY DAMNIT
Love you guys music Man if it wasn't for the puns and comedy you guys would have pure gold here man a potential of being second or third favorite band man y'all are absolute sick
@@towerofwankers Awesome! Me too, used to shoot competitions when I had more time. Sick album by the way, discovered it at random and I was instantly hooked. Haven't had that in a long time.
@@RohannvanRensburg Nice, I've been shooting for years but less so in the last year due to all the lockdowns; can't wait to get back out there! Thanks, glad you enjoyed the album.
@@towerofwankers Ah same here. Fortunately I live in sub-1 million city in Canada so we have a lot more "outside" available but indoor ranges have been closed. I've been following The Push archery lately (on UA-cam) and they've been a great resources for form improvements. Hard to overstate it actually, I haven't bothered with new metal in a while and you guys are a breath of fresh air. Love the production, the overall tone feels original and interesting. Vocals are distinctive too and fit perfectly, you definitely have your own voice. Definitely going to be sniping guitar ideas :D Also love the concept, especially after reading so many Lovecraft stories lately. Nice to get away from the stereotypical death metal lyrical themes. PS: Glad to see you guys have CD's, will try and get one ordered

Funny enough the drummer is Alan Cassidy of The Black Dahalia Murder as well! Absolute beast!
Feel the blessed touch of the unmaker
Some excellent Bass Face in this 😖 Dead good
Been listening to cosmic cornucopia and esoteric malacholagy for the past year on repeat, I need more Slugdge stuff!
WE WANT THE TABS! WE WANT THE TABS!
I dream of having a tab for Slimewave Zero ... The main riff is the grooviest death metal riff I've ever heard !
Watch the hands! Watch the hands!
Watch his hands, they're right there.
We need a couple more playthroughs...
I am such a big fan. Esoteric Malacology was a definite 9/10 for me. Tight, adventurous and great production. Fuck the haters.
