My aunt worked at a swim suit place in Pennsylvania her entire life so me and my cousin always had to try on and try out bathing suits for them. I get what you mean about the tops and bottoms they should always have the option to choose both the top and bottom sizing. Everyone's body is different and not cut from a cookie cutter. Totally love a few of these specially for you.

@gore chan They can still raise awareness about the harms of the fashion industry while having a smartphone though?? And in a digital world it’s a lot harder to not have a smartphone or device to remain connected to other people, so while there’s issues within that industry too and they should be talked about and fought against, it’s a slightly more justified purchase in comparison to buying an excessive amount of garments that won’t be worn much. It’s a pretty poor take on sustainability within the apparel industry to say “well what about *this* other bad thing huh hypocrite!!” if everyone viewed issues that way, we’d never make any progress with anything. Claudia is in a position where she can purchase better quality, more ethically produced, staple products made through a more environmentally sound process, but she chose to buy a large quantity of fast fashion product.
@gore chan I think the issue most people are finding with Claudia is that she has the means to make more conscious and sustainable purchases and instead she’s using her money and her platform to support fast fashion and overconsumption. It’s extremely difficult for modern day consumers with lower disposable incomes to always take the ethical approach, you still have to consider your financial position over everything else. You’re argument about using a smart phone is that because one person is funding a flawed industry, they can’t point out the issues within another, but not everyone is in a social and financial position to take the more sustainable approach, so therefore those that can, really should make an effort to do so. You also acknowledged that phones can be a necessity, and buying unnecessary amounts of clothes that won’t be worn much is definitely not a necessity, while purchasing a phone from companies like apple etc. is harming others, it’s a purchase that most people make every couple of years for good reason, constantly feeding into the hyper-consumerism of fast fashion is a much more selfish action to take, you’re causing harm to another person for what? It won’t keep you connected to others, it won’t provide you with valuable information, you probably won’t even wear it. That’s the difference between the two. They’re both extremely unethical industries and they’re bad for the environment in a multitude of ways and need to be changed dramatically, but the commenter was justified in acknowledging Claudia’s actions and I don’t think they came across as having a “holier than thou” attitude at all, the discussions around fast fashion still need to be had.

Fact is, buying tons of new clothes and only using them once is unjustified and promoting this lifestyle is not very responsible. While I agree that we should not accept people bying new technology every few months, we should not stop pointing out behaviours that is harmful. (Towards both people and the environment)

I agree, it makes more sense to get cheaper bathing suits than very expensive ones. They usually always get ruined in the summer, because of chlorine and stuff, at least for me. And it’s nice to change things up

I'm finding one thing that's not mentioned enough in the comment sections of Claudia's videos/posts is her lack of advocation for sustainable, ethnically sourced products. She rarely (never?) posts on her IG about any of this or just social issues in general that should be discussed when you have a large platform. There are probably many many young girls watching her online and mimicking her actions without taking the initiative to learn about the long-term effects these poor decisions have on the planet and our ecosystem.
