Just because it's been done before doesn't mean it's not rare. It's done every now and then but usually only as a one-off concept, and not straight from debut. It's almost too risky. Only time will tell if it's simply a concept for NewJeans, but as it stands, yes, it is rare. I'm not giving them an award for being more "natural" or "simple" than other groups, but they don't fit the current standard girl group look. Especially for the current generation of girl groups who tend to stick to the girl crush concept and wear makeup to suit it. I also think it's a good thing a successful new girl group is promoting a more natural and youthful look to their demographic.

Hyein is probably the most under appreciated/underrated member. She has the fiercest stage presence and an undeniable strong charisma at such a young age, it’s sad how everyone’s sleeping on this gem. I hope she is not disheartened that she gets the least fancam views everytime.
She shouldn't be disheartened. They just debuted. Popularity typically changes with more comebacks. I can think of some groups where one member was super popular at debut but now said member is more in the middle in terms of fancam popularity. It really depends.

There were groups that had a similar concept to NY, but there were also groups on which other 4th generation groups are modeled and on which the 3rd generation was also modeled. Girl crush is popular and was present in the 2nd generation, as well as the cute concept or fresh. It is better to talk about groups and not an entire generation.

@@mingi1489 bruh, she's so good at what she does. The dancing, singing, expressions, camera capture, everything. You'd expect her to be older cuz she's so good. Ofc it's a shock to hear that SHE is the maknae. During interviews she does act like a shy baby which is when I kinda thought okay, maybe she's not one of the older ones. Plus I guess because she doesn't smile much on stage. She shows a bit of swag while members like Hanni smile and due to their eye smiles they look really cute. So my first guess this was that hanni is the maknae.

i'm in love on how unique their sound and overall concept of this group is, it really is so refreshing to see a change in kpop!
the concept and sound is actually not new. the old kpop (1st gen & 2nd gen) was exactly like that. BUT yeah i agree for this ERA where modern and Futuristic concept are used more. Its refreshng indeed. Hybe is so smart for bringing back the old kpop vibes. that makes them unique and diff from others in 4th gen. and that how u get the ATTENTION

There were groups that had a similar concept to NY, but there were also groups on which other 4th generation groups are modeled and on which the 3rd generation was also modeled.
Girl crush is popular and was present in the 2nd generation, as well as the cute concept or fresh.
It is better to talk about groups and not an entire generation.
