I do have one suggestion for a video, now I think about it. Just today, I was in a pet store and found a lot of items inside when it comes to supplying for rodents. I am aware of certain things like dusty and scented bedding being bad for mice, as well as wire wheels, rodent balls, and small cages. But I feel like there are a lot of potential pitfalls when it comes to people getting supplies for their rodents because of the things that probably aren't covered in your videos. That's why I suggest you make a video on going to a pet store and pointing out the best and worst items you can find there, because I've also seen some things that are meant for animals like birds that could also work for mice, in spite of their build quality.
The internet is a strange place, i hope you never feel the need to keep re-explaining your personal decisions of why you stopped owning rats. Lots of people here just like watching your channel for you and the pets currently in your life. You have helped a great many pet lovers (including myself) with your trustworthy advice, encouragement, shop & educational content on YT. Thank you!
First of all, I 100% respect your decision to stop owning rats and also I find your videos so interesting and fun to watch (even if I don't own rats/mice etc). Also, River is absolutely !adorable! and I hope the training is going well ❤❤❤
I totally understand and respect your decision to quit having rats. I've had five in total (starting in 2019), and only one very elderly rat is left at the moment. My heart rat passed away just after New Years. Anyway, I've been getting more and more allergic and I've recently been diagnosed with asthma and a bunch of different allergies. Not just rats/rodents, but dogs and cats too. It sucks because I LOVE pets and they are so essential to me. I don't know if I can ever cope with that
I also have asthma/mild pet allergies. one of the only types of animal I could keep are reptiles. Not for everyone since i know they are a common fear but snakes make great companions and they are quite soothing to hold and interact with.
I‘m glad to hear you are happy with having no rats anymore and am looking forward to chinchilla videos. I never had much contact with them so I’m super curious
I love your channel so much, and your honestly so inspiring for me because I’m now 13 and last year I’ve been diagnosed with autism and an ED and I’m so scared that I will not be able to get my own house own and get a dog (which is one of my biggest dreams) but seeing you while your chronically ill doing all this and having River makes a bit more hopeful that I will be able to have a dog even if I’m not that healthy right now❤️
I am not planning to get any more pets this year. Part of it is we don’t have room. Another reason is I took in two critters in 2024. My hope in the next couple of years I’d be able to take in another chin to pair with my Cloudy girl. I’m hoping to pair my female and one of my male rabbits together (not to breed). Cloudy’s cage is still working in progress. Not to mention I’m trying to get back into a routine with giving cloudy playtime thanks to my ADHD and autism.
Happy New Year!✨✨ Sorry youy're not feeling well. I hope you'll keep making videos even when you have a farm. I love farm animals. It would be interesting to see them. The simplest things are often the ones that do the most good.
I also would love to see any farm content. I've always been so curious. Emi is such a genuine, relaxed, natural host that I think she will do well on YT, whatever content she next develops into. But farm content, and farm animals, yay!
I hope your health problems, etc improve and you feel better. ❤ I would be really interested in the coming years to hear about/see the farm animals on your channel. I'm on a farm and contemplating getting various livestock in the next few years.
Little dogs that don’t have the same standard of training as bigger dogs annoy me 😅 I think it’s really cool to see tiny dogs trained to do all the things that larger dogs can
Hi emi! I love your channel I really want a group a female mice I have a huge cage with my very elderly hamster so when he sadly passes I'll take a while to cry and miss him I might get mice! I'm happy your ok without the ratties!!!❤😊
I’m so sorry about your stress, that you’re not feeling well, and all of the rude comments you’re getting. I love watching your videos; they have helped me out so much! I’ve really been wanting rats for a while now and if I ever do get them I’m glad I’ll be giving them the best care I can after all of your help. I started by just watching one rat video of yours while researching and now I’ve watched so many of your videos and have subscribed! Thank you so much emi, and I hope you are ok and have a fun stress free future ahead of you! Also a few quick questions. 1: do you think you will own rats again? If so when? I know you said you prefer males over females but if you did end up owning rats again would they be boys or girls? 2: Do you have any tips on how to convince my parents that rats aren’t the wild stereotypes and are actually one of the best pets to have? (Im 13 and feel like I’m definitely responsible enough) I have a dog (Holly) a bearded dragon (magma) and a horse (June) 3: If had fleece bedding but one or two dig boxes with different textures and beddings would that be ok? Or do I need to get bedding for the entire bottom? It’s just so hard finding a cage big enough that has a big base for bedding. I live in the US so do you have any cage suggestions? 4: I’m also struggling to find a good food if I get rats. Mainly the base mix if I made my own food. Any US suggestions? P.S. I would never unsubscribe or stop watching your videos just because you stopped owning rats. I completely respect that and it’s totally your decision, plus I love your channel and hope you keep posting and get better! Rip to all of your lovely ratties who passed Thank you so much if you read all of this and reply, I appreciate it so much! (Sorry for all of the questions)
Thank you! I can’t see myself ever owning rats again, especially not at the same time as chinchillas 💔 I’d maybe try and see if you can find somewhere for your parents to meet some friendly rats to convince them that they’re lovely pets, I know sometimes some rescues will have open days or events with ambassador animals that are used to being handled that might help. I really don’t recommend fleece as a bedding and although having dig boxes is better than nothing they can’t truly have enough space to properly dig and make tunnels if they want to. If you get a critter nation cage I believe there’s a home depot(?) cement tray that fits almost perfectly in the base to make it deeper. I’m not 100% sure on what foods there are but the shunamite diet is becoming a bit more common in the US so there might be someone selling a mix that you could order 😊
Alright, I’ll look into it and try that out! Thank you so much, I hope my parents will understand how amazing rats are and cave when they see their adorable little faces that way I can enjoy wonderful times with them like you got to ❤️ I’ve already made a slideshow explaining why they are the best, their care, some pros and cons, etc. I’ll see if I can find somewhere to maybe get a custom Perspex or I’ll try Home Depot. I really appreciate you replying and giving your animals and viewers animals the best care possible so they can live happy and healthy lives!
Also to answer your question in the video, pets I’d love to get are rats, mice a leopard gecko, or fish; basically any small rodent or small animal. (NOT ALL 🤣 that’s too many animals lol)
How thick should I make a Perspex in millimeters? And is an inch smaller than the cage measurement too much off or fine? Also, lastly can I use toilet paper or tissues as a cheaper nesting material? Or do I have to get something like Kaylee clean and cozy white bedding or Timothy hay? Thank you!
My goal for 2025 is to free roam my rats more often. Sometimes life just gets away from me and suddenly it's been weeks or months since their last free roam. I want to be better about that.
I agree, I try to get mine out at least 3 times a week. I have boys as well as girls so it takes longer as they have to be separate, but they all love free time so much.
Hi I wanted to know if you have any tips for my 2 female mice I already have a wheel food 5 hides and water lots of toys but I just wanted to know like what else 😊
Hi Emy, I have a question, you know when people say they have their own “heart rat”, (your most favourite rat that you felt most connected to). Which pet rat was your heart rat?
@ yeahhh I love them too they’re actually so cutie patotie! I think when you’re gonna feel ready again and nostalgic you’re gonna get pet rats again ❣️l would do anything for a pet rat cause they’re actually so freaking cute ✨✨🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much for your transparency 🤗May I ask if you plan to have children? This is something that’s currently on my mind and as much as I’d love to I also have various health issues that are impacting my decision. Please don’t feel obligated to answer. Wishing you and all of the pets a lovely year xo
No intentions to have children at all. If I did want children, I honestly don’t think I’d manage as you can’t just shut them away when you need a break like you can with pets - I know some people do a great job of making it work though!
I'm watching this on mute because I just brought home baby rats today and they're quarantined in my room. They need some good rest and time to explore their temporary cage (until they can move in with my older girlies) so I'm trying to be as quiet as possible
I don't know the full extent as to what happened surrounding you and your ex-ratfriends, but I can understand there's always a limit with the stresses you face from - for lack of better words - such a hobby or interest. I've definitely heard that there are some heavy burdens that come with rat ownership, so I can get if giving up your previous rats is the best option you could take, given whatever circumstances you're facing. On a different subject, if you're feeling directionless on UA-cam, I could suggest you make some shorter videos like some stories you've had with your pets, and some mortal from it, or videos acting as a small window into their daily life. Something like a GoPro pointing into the tank of your mice, for example. I never see any UA-cam content for pet mice unless it's guides for mouse care or - unfortunately - methods for trapping them or people being cruel or stupid towards them. If you were to make that sort of content, I, for one, would be very greatful.
@Emiology ah, that's helpful! I also suggest you take my idea to heart; I'm not saying you should make your mice DO anything for content, seeing them is more than enough for me.

That’s devastating 💔 I don’t think I could live without dogs or cats, having it develop into other animal allergies is a big fear

You've been doing fantastic. Your videos have always been very helpful. You've helped so many people give little pets better care.

Love this video as usual. happy New Year! I hope this is a fantastic year for you, wishing you better health!! ❤

I’m happy that you’ve moved on, but I still really miss the ratties😢😔
I used to own only large dogs but now I switched to small ones and what a difference!
So much easier and barely any training required
Little dogs that don’t have the same standard of training as bigger dogs annoy me 😅 I think it’s really cool to see tiny dogs trained to do all the things that larger dogs can
@Emiology definitely agree there, just because they're small doesn't mean that they are allowed to have inappropriate behaviour😊
I think it depends on the breed, I have borzois & they are the easiest dogs to look after so laid back & no barking at all.
Hi emi! I love your channel I really want a group a female mice I have a huge cage with my very elderly hamster so when he sadly passes I'll take a while to cry and miss him I might get mice! I'm happy your ok without the ratties!!!❤😊
Happy New video ehhh🎉🎉
Wow, you have to stick a tail and ears and little black eyes on that microphone. So cute

I recently adopted 5 African Soft Furs that are living with my 2 fancy mice.

It happens! That’s a nice goal to have, setting a daily timer on your phone can help 😊
Have a look at some of my enclosure setup videos or mouse enclosure review videos to get some tips 😊
@ okay xx btw I was wondering if you could react to my mouse cage
Hi Emy, I have a question, you know when people say they have their own “heart rat”, (your most favourite rat that you felt most connected to). Which pet rat was your heart rat?
I’d say crumble and Rolo were my heart rats 😍
@ yeahhh I love them too they’re actually so cutie patotie! I think when you’re gonna feel ready again and nostalgic you’re gonna get pet rats again ❣️l would do anything for a pet rat cause they’re actually so freaking cute ✨✨🥰🥰🥰

Thank you it’s nice not to feel so alone 💜thankfully animals also fulfill me and being an aunt too.
I'm watching this on mute because I just brought home baby rats today and they're quarantined in my room. They need some good rest and time to explore their temporary cage (until they can move in with my older girlies) so I'm trying to be as quiet as possible
I've got 3 females currently and think I might have a break after they pass, got a lot going on right now and it is difficult juggling it all.
I miss my ratties! I plan to adopt a cat
Is Lenny the lobster compatible with chinchillas? I’m just curious. If so, I may consider getting one for my girl when her adoption day comes around.
It’s got string / rope parts to it so unfortunately not 😖
@ thank you so much for letting me know
I kinda missed why she stopped owning rats actually. What was the reason? The allergy or was there more?
There’s videos on why 😊 (10 reasons Im stopping owning rats)
Happy new year 🎊🕛 2025
I love your videos and I miss your ratS I'm at 20 minutes plssss reply I love your videos. I'm getting rats on a few weeks!?!!!!??
Why do u not want rats there amazing
I’ve made plenty of videos talking about why 😊
Emi has a several videos explaining why. She is one of the most caring, responsible and informative pet-YTers I have ever come across in this space.
I made a video called 10 reasons why I’m stopping owning rats if you want to know the full reasons 😊
@Emiology ah, that's helpful!
I also suggest you take my idea to heart; I'm not saying you should make your mice DO anything for content, seeing them is more than enough for me.
