I really liked his death (one of the few character endings that I liked.... don't fucking get me started on Jaime..... lol). I don't see it as him dying by the thing he was most afraid of, I see it as him finally overcoming his fear in the face of something greater (defeating his brother). I do indeed call it poetic. :P
Completely agreed about his death. Also I thought the way the show was heading with him was that his main goal of revenge would disappear as he interacted with brother ray, the brotherhood and the Stark sisters again. I’m just hoping the books do him justice and give him his one happy moment with a certain someone before killing his brother🕊

Sandor was wounded against Brienne...and he almost won
There was no other way for the hound to die. But in the fire. Thats what made him the bad person he was. Because of his brother burning him and filling him with hate. And the only way he could end this was to take his brother and himself. back into the fire. Nothing else would have killed his brother and thats what was most important to him. Thats all he was living for anyway. And in the end his fear of fire was gone. .

Things are not that simple when it comes to the Hound.
He's no asshole. He's a broken man with scars on his body and his soul. He acted like he did because he came to understand how this world works.
Many knights in Westeros are hypocrites and worse than the worst criminal, his own father allways prefered and protected his violent older brother who burned Sandor's face when he was still a child, his sister and his father were perhabs murdered by his brother and Sandor was forced to live a life in his shadow. If you have basicly no support from your family, beeing 2nd class to your father while beeing tortured by your older brother who's the beloved first born it's only natural that you become a hatefull and bitter loner.
Deep down he's more honorable than most of the so called knights in Westeros. He protected Arya and Sansa because he knew it's the right decisson, he was the only one brave enough to stop his brother when he was about to murder Ser Loras at the tournament.
It's easy beeing a selfish asshole, but beeing brave and a hero is what separates men from boys. Sandor did exactly that during the course of the show.
Everyone was back and forth between Brianne and Jamie ir Brianne and Tormund. Let me tell you, I loved both of the dynamics, but I shipped Brianne and Sandor. And she could beat his ass. XD
Also Arya and Sandor's relationship was the best, season 4 was by far one of my favorite seasons only because they were together through it.

I disagree. I think the ONLY thing that made sense about the ending to Game of Thrones was the Hound. We got the cleganebowl that should have happened. Sandor was never going to win because Gregor was too strong. Him being a zombie and getting suicide rushed off a tower is the best you could hope for.
If his brother was still a human when their final fight happened, he would've whiped the floor with Gregor.
And when he made his suicide attack he technically killed his brother. He got his revenge.
