The best part abut him ranting about spoiling the ending is, he's 100% wrong about it all being a dream, since it shows Andy's ship and the aliens in the very last scene.

IDK if you're joking or not but I figure this might be interesting to mention anyway:
A lot of media at the time was like this, and a lot of older weirder media was still a thing before they were stripped from or replaced in the public conscious. A lot of fairy tales used to be really messed up, for example.
My mom would tell me the older, darker versions of fairy tales and then I'd listen/read the modern takes on them and I was really confused and disappointed by them. Like the version of Goldy Locks where the three bears come back and are really nice to her and she plays games with Baby Bear, which even my 5 year old self was irked by because "it's about not going in strangers' houses why would they tell this like you should go in strangers' houses and eat their food and sleep on their beds???"
