I remember the 70s being pretty bad, but I do believe now is worse. I think it's because the high gas prices (due to the OPEC embargo) was the early 70s, and the runaway inflation and high unemployment was the late 70s. Now, we have both at once.

I'm in my 60's. The only thing I know is that prices never drop. Sometimes gas prices fluctuate but that's about it. High prices of today are the new normal.
I bought my orignial house in 2002 for $62.5k. Almost 20 years later, the price almost quadrupled. Bought the new house in 2019. In four years, the assessment have grown 47% and i am constantly getting cold calls from realtors asking if i want to sell because demand is so high.

If my hubby and I didn’t already HAVE an apartment, we could IN NO WAY afford to get this same apartment now at the price it is being offered to new tenants.
