While science, philosophy and logic all have their challenges science is not a faith based system and here is why: to say that we believe that if we know more, we would be able to do more, is a factual statement based on evidence and many many success stories, but notice that i did not say “the better off we would be” like you assume in your argument, while yes some discoveries and information will make us “better off” some wont, and just like anything in reality and our world nothing is 100% good or 100% bad, but calling science is based on a faith-based argument is actually not true!
For it to be faith-based there would have to be no evidence to support that argument, and evidence is abundant that science works and helps humanity advance (regardless of its good or bad since that is a perspective issue not a concrete scale)!
