clearly people are stupid when it comes to Horses, he is just fidgety and talkative like most Horses I notice no spooking whatsoever, he was well behaved and well trained.
He looks like either he’s looking for a new friend or his pasture mate. I have an animated Arab that people are worried about. He’s bitless and does parades. When race day (endurance) he is on turbo.
I find it funny the people telling you the horse is tired. Obviously they don't know much about horses. Just watching his demeanor tells me he's not tired. And the person who said he was scared made me shake my head. He is definitely not scared. A little impatient when he's standing maybe, but not scared. Beautiful horse. Nice stocky build, and a NICE BIG BUTT. I love it!!!
Thankyou,i love my boy with all my heart, and you have him down to a T. He is a typical stallion and doesn`t see why he should stand when he could be out on the road be nosy.We returned to KFC today,he was a real fidget, but under control at all times.
omg, that's exactly what I was saying as I was reading the comments as well. One could even say he was enjoying himself the way he was nickering as they pulled up. The owners obviously did a good job desensitizing him to these sort of things.
They aren't insured for it. If something goes wrong and they haven't refused to serve you they aren't protected so therefore they obviously won't serve you. It's just like they wouldn't serve a person on a motorcycle or bicycle if they came round the drive thru 😕
I would hardly call that a spook for the people saying the horse is spooking... clearly they've never seen a horse actually spook. He/she was just fidgety as many horses are. You were technically "driving thru" though lol! :P
Thankyou Michaela,Dago doesn`t spook easy.We had just come through a huge industrial estate, with huge lorries everywhere,so if he were going to spook he would have done it then. And with Dago being a stallion,he is a real fidget bum, because he gets bored and just wants to go.And yes we were driving a horse and carriage through a "drive thru",which to me makes sense. We have done it many times while out on a drive, and we also stop off at pubs for a shandy.People forget what transport was here before cars. And why a road is called a single carriage way.
Michaela Emmy I agree I ride horses and that is not spooking when a horse spooks it's not fun as I fell off at a full gallop and was just beginning to ride 15 years ago now I'm 18 years old
Aye true. Long as it’s well behaved and doesn’t leave any droppings in the drive thru I see no problem with it. Long as the owners are aware of that they have to clean up after them if they do that’s fine. Regardless there shouldn’t be an issue with the horse going through drive thru.
No fear in that horse. A healthy dose of "Hello Motorcycle People". I hope people take note of that McDonald's and their snobbish attitude and just go right on next door like they did. At least at KFC you know what kind of meat you're getting.
It really depends on the person controlling the horse when they drive the horses like she was if the person was actually whipping the horse really hard then it can be seen as abuse. Horses have their personalities and they don't always listen but you got to learn to be patient with the horses
isn’t pavement bad for their hooves?? not sure how it is for certain types but that’s what i know personally about horses ive been around (sorry if i sound dumb lmao im not very educated on these things)
TheDragonLake I don’t think a sub urban area really counts as a city. I’m pretty sure these guys are just overreacting and just sticking to “regulations”.
You did a really good job with him 😊 The horses I ride run for the hills when vehicles come by! Also, I could tell that the people eating at McDonald's had never seen a horse-drawn carriage there before Haha
+Melanie Rose Swan it's because if the horse spooks he could become panicked and flighty, possibly hurting himself, the driver, cars and the people working the drive through.
***** That's the thing. The people serving them have no idea whether the horses are correctly trained or not, they could be the best horses ever but they have no way of ensuring the safety of those around them should the horses spook.
+Red_Jacket I have used Dago to teach lots of people to drive,if he wasn`t 100% safe i wouldn`t have took him though. We have no issues with any other drive thru`s or pub rides. And he and i am fully insured. x
Ftp2233 reason being is there’s payments in itself for horses such as their care, supplies and upkeeping. Very same thing as the NCT, petrol/diesel and insurances. Well done Australia you did something right
4 hoof drive, suspension depends on model you get. Cheap to fuel and fuel is abundant. Can be temporal at times but aren't most vehicles. Servicing is approximately every 6 weeks.
Hi, great video, we are from Derby, where was this filmed? We have toyed with taking our horse thru macdonalds but wasn't sure what the reaction would be, and now we know, its KFC for us. Thanks again guys.
rafinal1129, you are more than welcome, Dago has a few driving videos on here. We have a GoPro on the carriage now as opposed to the hand held phone. X
That's a beautiful horse you got, how ashamed McDonalds didn't give you food the would've got some money, but KFC is good too! Besides you were kinda driving your horse (riding) it was kinda like a car but it was living and slower but still McDonald's should've let you ordered.
You could probably go through the drive through with your buggy where I live. Heck, in my part of town most businesses even have a place to hitch your horse if you want to go in.
What are you talking about? Did you not see the horse tossing his head at the red light? Horses will lower their heads when they pull heavy things, & most horses are bred with a lower headset anyway, not every driving horse is a standardbred with its head high in the air. I think people should think before they comment as horse drawn carriages came before cars and think it is in bad taste not to serve you as you are a form of transport why should you not be served in a drive through as you are clearly driving a form of transport that was the first form of transport
How very cute/quaint! If your horse had a roller bit (middle peice that rolls he plays with it with his tongue) would he stand still better? worth a try. did u see the William the hackney horse on youtube?
i like to see horses without the blinkers like this one. they always made my pony nervous until i took them off. Its a kinder and more natural way of driving. :)
Emerald Winds Domino, someone that understands! Put blinkers on Dago and he is dangerous! If he can see all around him he doesn't spook and is lot happier on the road. X
I think it wold be great publicity, i've gone to a mom and pop shop with my friend on horse back before. they said they hadn't had people do that in years and took pictures with us and the horses. from what I know they are still up.
Dago is a welsh cob stallion that does a bit of everything, driving, endurance, cross country, show jumping and producing foals. Thankyou for your kind comments x
Well someone would have to clean it up and I doubt the rider would. If the horse were to play up it could hit a car behind them and the blame would go to McDee for letting a horse in the drive thru. Could also be dangerous for the horse too as cars dont pass through the drive thru lightly.
+Lauren Bowers these horses are bred for driving and is it we'll trained as I can see, and ofc if the horse did a little doo doo the rider would pick it up!
That sucks, why did they ask you to leave? because you didnt drive in with a fume ridden gas guzzler? I was practicing my reverse bay parking on my horse in park and was also asked to leave after I parked up my horse, Although I did argue 'it does not specify what can park in the bays as long as you are within the white lines.
That is a very beautiful and well mannered horse, especially with all the cars going right past him. If I was working at a drive thru restaurant and someone came through with a horse and buggy I would be ecstatic.
maybe because pulling on the reins actually hurts the horses mouth as the bit sits on a very sensitive part of the mouth called the bars in between their front teeth and back teeth the whip is just to encourage the horse as he was hesitant in the new area she didn't actually hit him...
I do not agree that this is fine, I do not agree with horses pulling carages, I only agree if no one is on it and there is enough horses pulling it, but as you can see its only 1 horse. Also the road can hurt the horses hooves if he has not had proper time out in a pasture or pen. Also whipping is abusive, which you can see them do, ppl use whips with lunging, but do not hit the horse, its stays behind the horse and it helps the horse. So do crops, they are not abusive at all, they help you during riding. And also, I am not sure if they were on a main rode but there is a law, "It is unsafe for them (horse riders) to go on busy roads in between lines where the horse can get frightened and sandwhiched." Probably got it wrong, but in all horses are not allowed on main roads. Don't try to make excuses about the whip aswell, saying things like "Oh but horses have thick skin so its fine." Scientificly horses have thinner skin than humans, also scientificly proven, horses have more nerves, leading to them feeling more pain. Also there is health issues when ur doing this aswell, if you want to know about the health issues look it up.
Good thing people never went and explored the west in covered wagons, or ever took the stage coach, or had mail delivered by the pony express. Horses LIKE to work, like people do. It is WORSE for them to stand around all day in a pasture getting fat and lazy, and soft feet. LEARN about horses. Also, a whip is to guide, and I don't see any lashing going on. It is like a leash and collar for a dog.
Do you have special stuff for your horses hooves ?? Trotting on the roads can hurt your horses hooves! (Just curious if you do and btw your horse is gorgeous!)
at first I was thinking 'WHY ON EARTH ARE THEY RIDING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD' but then I remembered 'oh yeah, some countries ride on the left side instead of the right...xD'

no. that's the same as a dog shitting on your driveway. you have to take time away from whatever the hell you were doing to get that shit off your driveway. either that or your horse lawn and driveway will be nothing but shit.
NotOfficalJames well maybe you don't want to and no its nothing like shitting in a driveway. You can scoop that shit up with a shovel and bury it because its gravel.
dont take this as a bad thing, im just saying. my uncle doesnt need to use a whip on his horses... he dont even have a wip for them, they are so tame, he has 3 percherons and 1 belgum
that made me laugh xD he doesn't think wagons are chasing him -_- blinkers just keep the horse from spooking at things at the side of the road, if your horse isn't spooky there is no point in them
I think they use pads. There are all kinds. Started out being leather then rubber. Back in the old days oxen wore leather shoes when crossing the country ( in the US days of the wagon trails). Now there are honeycombed ones that are specialized. There are even lightweight synthetic shoes.
People saying that this horse is spooked don't know what they are talking about. He's impatient but not spooked. He is fine.
clearly people are stupid when it comes to Horses, he is just fidgety and talkative like most Horses I notice no spooking whatsoever, he was well behaved and well trained.
Ellen Cormier Thankyou Ellen,Dago is a stallion and is a real fidget and very vocal. He just wanted his carrots then to get on his way again.
Ellen Cormier yeah. He has his ears forward and he is listening for anything out of the ordinary. His ears aren't back like he is spooked.

good to see a horse with no blinders blinkers a little more time spent no need to tunnel his vision first iv seen for years love it

dont take this as a bad thing, im just saying. my uncle doesnt need to use a whip on his horses... he dont even have a wip for them, they are so tame, he has 3 percherons and 1 belgum
Pretty Horse.
My horse Reeses loved his bell on his saddle. He wouldn't behave without it.
Your horse is stunning :] I really wanna do this but my mum said no :[
So calm! Mine would be running over the cars lol
Wow your horse is so well commanded!! McDonalds missed out
mcdonalds is stupid. kfc is better. mcdonalds just lost my business now.
Sarah Morr Ikr! Mcdonalds has 19 ingredients in their fries, were we have 2. Potatoes and salt.
that made me laugh xD he doesn't think wagons are chasing him -_- blinkers just keep the horse from spooking at things at the side of the road, if your horse isn't spooky there is no point in them
I think they are doing a pretty good job...I mean I can only ride horses but controlling them on a carriage is pretty amazing
I think they use pads. There are all kinds. Started out being leather then rubber. Back in the old days oxen wore leather shoes when crossing the country ( in the US days of the wagon trails). Now there are honeycombed ones that are specialized. There are even lightweight synthetic shoes.
OOooohhhhhh you must be the pair I see around! Brackenfield common? Or just general Brackenfield, I suppose?
