This is a special “Flip the Script” episode! Instead of answering a guest’s questions, host Josh Spector brings on an expert he wants to learn from and asks them three questions.
Today’s guest is Jay Clouse. Jay is the founder of Creator Science. Through its newsletter, podcast, membership, and UA-cam channel, Creator Science will help you become a smarter creator. He previously led the community experience team for Pat Flynn and Smart Passive Income, designing their paid membership community and cohort-based course programs.

Great episode, thanks both. It's the reason I haven't started a community - makes far more sense to join an active, existing one as entrepreneurship/creator economy is a saturated area. I figure go local and complement my online networks with IRL local coffee catch ups and wealth walks! Love that The Lab is sharing work opps too!

@@JoshSpectorVideos Jay's helpful comments about reasons for starting and not starting a membership community - incl the recognition that it's never done. I was also struck by the power of the closed community.

I am very excited to see this topic because I am in the midst of creating the framework for a Masterclass. The first minute and a 1/2 was so good that I had to goto the comment section and express my enthusiasm within the first minute of even listening. I am familiar with Pat Flynn's work and didn't know Jay Clouse and/or that he was behind some of it. So this should be good. Looking forward to it...

Not that I am anybody special, but I am definitely agreeing with everything the guys are talking about. I thought it was great that they covered the top reasons for NOT running some sort of community first as opposed to the benefits because not only is there a lot to it. But then what happens if the numbers don't work out $$ wise and you're in the middle of this 'thing' that still needs to be fulfilled. I would have to agree that there needs to be a lot more to it than just the need for a stream of revenue.
Going to hot seats vs office hours was a really great idea! /me taking notes lol
Too many great points to list them all. Thanks for covering this topic!
