    Nice tractor and baler combo, didn’t miss a beat.

      It finally rained a few days after this was filmed but I would say there already has been a yield loss as hard as it was stressed. Yeah the baler only missed one bale so it worked great!

    John Deere balers haven't changed much since the 336 came out, except for the $50,000 price tag. Ever try planting a forage cover crop for the cows to graze on in the fall?

    Every time I watch one of your videos I want to come down there and help more and more, different scenery and not as boring lol.

    That video sure brings back memories,spent a few summers on our 88 row crop and a Case 200 baler, was 12 years old when I started baling hay, never forget that Oliver sound! I inherited that 88 this year,been sitting in the corner of the shed for a few years, needs new rear tires but otherwise it will be ready to hook up to the rake and put it to work this summer. Great videos!

    First off, since that was a John Deere baler, you should have known it would work just fine. I’m surprised the tractor and baler didn’t fight with each other. Sounds like you feel about the same way I do about wheat. Really enjoyed watching.

    • @rosstheoliverman
      @rosstheoliverman  2 роки тому +1

      🤣 The baler and I fought for years but it finally agreed to play nice. Wheat never has been my favorite and it seems like they rob you when you sell the grain. Thanks for Watching!!

    I like seeing those fleetlines out there getting it done. Both the 77 and 88 sounded good. Even that JD baler seemed to work well. Just finished up my hay yesterday, which I'm always glad about. Oats will be ready in a couple weeks but is really short around here. Figures, when I have a good market for the straw at the local hardware store.

    Are wheat done really good, best I've ever raised 68.7 bu per acre. 800 bales of straw with oliver 60t bailer miss two bales. Neighbor got 22 round bails from it for bedding for show calves n few pigs they raise . I really think it helps the soil , usually disc chisel after it's done. Hope you get some rain been lucky here . From turkey creek farms. Be safe 🙏 for some rain for you

    I don't think you would have found much of any straw if that had been a rotary combine. The 8900 sure gives nice straw to bale up.

    • @rosstheoliverman
      @rosstheoliverman  2 роки тому +1

      Yes the old walker combines shine in that department. Have you ever baled after the 8570?

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris 2 роки тому +1

      Yes. It doesn't do as good as a walker machine, but waaayyy better than the neighbors IH. Years ago I had a bearing go out, and they finished my wheat for me. I could squar bale it, but round baling did not work. So much straw pushed between the belts it was filling up the wrong part of the baler.

    • @rosstheoliverman
      @rosstheoliverman  2 роки тому +1

      @@ThatOliverGuyChris Grandpa baled some years ago for a neighbor with our old round baler for that same reason. The belt balers wouldn’t keep it all in the right place. one guy tried to tell me he liked rotor straw better because when you cut the strings is just scattered so nicely for bedding. I can’t imagine it lasted very long because it’s already half wore out.

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris 2 роки тому +1

      @@rosstheoliverman My uncle likes it for his horses because it spreads easy, but he square bales. I've sold straw out of the field to a couple of farmers that come and roll it up themselves. One with a JD and one with a New Holland belt baler, and I've made them with my Gehl. No complaints.
