I love this so so much. I am currently 38 weeks pregnant and love watching positive birth stories, but it’s so hard to try and relate and prepare because nobody has put any positive birth stories up during COVID. I am so glad that you had a positive birth experience and baby George is happy and healthy☺️
@@fairytaleviola I have had 2 children now. My first when Shannon had George was extremely traumatic in a hospital. I had a ‘natural’ birth on paper but it was awful on the hospitals part. My second I had last November at home, a freebirth. It was incredibly magical and extremely healing!
Earlier this week I found out that I am pregnant with my first baby and I’ve been loving your channel ever since. Congrats on your baby boy and thanks for the great videos 💘
Hey Shan, we watched several of your videos prior to giving birth to our baby boy. We'd like to say thank you for sharing your experience (we have done the same) You played a part in helping us prepare for our journey X
Thank you for sharing this Shan I loved it! I just want to add to everybody reading that I’ve had 2 covid tests and they really weren’t that bad. Please don’t let this put you off having one if you need one because they are so important 💕
I've just come across you a few weeks back and loveeee your channel because you're from UK like me (Im a Londoner) And I've just noticed I have the same due date as when you went into hospital! 9th Sept! How crazy! Thank you for your vids, they're gold for a first time mum like me!
Loved this video, has put me at ease a bit! I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant, and we've just done our birth plan with our midwife. I'm really hopeful I don't have to be induced though, as I don't really feel like it's right for the dads to not be part of the entire experience - they say that they're key to supporting us through the early labour but then won't let them into the wards and stuff with you are induced! Seems a bit contradictory to me!
I found your channel whilst you were pregnant and have never seen you without bump..you look so different!! Would love to see a “what I actually used in my hospital bag video”, I need to pack mine in the next few weeks and love how practical you are with pregnancy and lifestyle!! xx
I love that this is so positive! I feel like when you tell people your pregnant people are so quick to tell you how horrendous it is! I’m only 18 weeks and was already dreading the labour but you’ve made me feel at ease. I just wondered were the midwifes forceful or judgy that you weren’t breastfeeding? Just I feel I don’t want to breastfeed as I want my husband to also have that bonding with the baby and don’t want to express but I’m scared they will have a go at me haha. I wasn’t aware you could harvest the good stuff so they still get that so Thankyou for letting us know about that :) xx
Kerry Nesbitt I’m so glad this makes you feel a bit more relaxed about labour, I definitely think 50% of the battle is the mindset you go in with, if it’s positive then you’re half way there! And I have to say that no one was judge at all!! I was fully expecting them to be but everyone was so supportive and gave me loads of advice on bottle feeding which was lovely! I’m sure some midwives might be a bit but I only came across amazing ones throughout my entire pregnancy/birth xxxx
Don’t have a bubba myself or will be able to have but I love you and love this story. So glad things went well for you - George is just gorg and the smile on your face is something else! Amazing xx
So so so nice to hear someone talk about the colostrum milk but bottle feeding as this is exactly what I have been considering doing as well. Did you find it hard/painful to get the colostrum and any videos that helped you do this? Did your midwife team support you as well? I’m nervous about this xxx
Thank you for putting this up. I’m delivering in the same hospital as you did and following my test results I’ve been told he/she will likely be a low birth weight baby. Hoping for a positive experience like yours 🤞🏼
Its so lovely to hear your experience was such a positive one! It makes me so excited to give birth to my baby boy, ive loved following your journey whilst ive been pregnant 💙 George is an angel! 😍 I know you wanted to originally use hypnobirthing. Did you feel any benefits from doing hypnobirthing courses during your induction and labour? Xx
Chloe Pearson awh thank you so much / I have to admit, I barely had the chance to use my hypnobirthing stuff in labour, but I would definitely say my overall mindset/positively towards birth is all down to hypnobirthing xxxx
You had such a quick labour especially for being induced .thank goodness! I am so happy you didn't have a labour like mine ... many congratulations xxx
So glad I found your channel and have enjoyed watching your pregnancy journey your videos are really helpful. Thanks for sharing your birth experience I hope mines is as good as yours. I’m currently 21 weeks pregnant with our first baby and expecting a little boy.
So, what was his birth weight in the end? Was he in the lower 10%, like theyd predicted? Ive heard thats not always the case, and some people have larger than average babies (in terms of weight) after being told that they should be induced cos baby is measuring too small in the scans... so i guess its not always accurate
Thank you for sharing your wonderful story!! I am currently 32 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I can only hope that my labour/birth is like yours! I was wondering as George was your first baby and your labour/birth wasn’t as long as expected for first borns, how long were you kept in hospital afterwards? With covid going on and the restrictions in Northern Ireland around labour I’m hoping to be out as soon as
I hope yours is as positive as mine was lovely! If it wasn’t for the fact that I have rhesus negative blood and they had to wait to get the injection I needed after birth I would have been out at midday that day! But I had to stay one extra night so they could get the injection ready (i think they were short staffed int he lab or something!) xx
Oh my God that was so traumatising and brutal. I am very glad it all went well at the end and you actually have a positive memory of it. I am so sorry it all happened, typical induction story, hopefully in future healthcare professionals will start having a more sensible approach to labour. Congratulations on the positive attitude nevertheless 🙏 To future mums: when doctors scare you that something can happen to your baby and you have to be induced, you can request "gentle cesarean". Please instead of mega expansive trendy buggies and clothes invest into an NCT course plus a hypnobirthing materials (can be videos, books since real course is expensive). This is by far one of thr best investments you can make. Goodluck to everyone xx
I’m pregnant with my first and finding other people’s birth stories really helpful, thanks for sharing! A question about harvesting the colostrum - how did you store it once you had it in the syringes? Do you need to freeze it or anything? Maybe a stupid question but I’m interested in doing the same thing! Thanks :)
Hey lovely! So glad you found it helpful!! You store in the fridge or freezer but deffo talk to your midwife about it, she’ll help with everything ♥️♥️
I'm 24+3 and this is the first birthing story I've watched. It's made me feel almost excited to give birth (kinda) and I've taken notes from your hospital bag video, thanks for the great content 💕
Congratulations on your bundle of joy. Thanks for sharing your positive birth story! I just wondered whether you got to use any of the hypnobirthing techniques you learnt?
georgina e hey lovely, I would definitely say that the breathing techniques and the over small mindset I had towards birth were all down to hypnobirthing for sure - I didn’t actually listen to my tapes during labour but overall I’d say it was so worth it! Xxxx
I just had my little girl on Thursday after being induced on Monday, so wish she came as quick as your experience lol but being induced wasn’t too bad! Literally editing my birth story right now! Xx
Thanks for sharing your story. So nice to hear about a positive experience that someone has had during covid. What time were you released from hospital the next day? I know it sounds silly but I think what I am most scared of is being by myself without my husband. Let's hope I have a straightforward birth like you! X
Hey lovely!! I actually had to stay another night as I had to have an injection that took ages to get - but if not I would have been out at midday that day! X
Love this. Not so nervous for mine potential induction next week. My baby hasnt gained as much as it did from 1 to 2 growth scan, although still a good weight predicted 7lb 5oz as you said any risk is not worth it so agreed to an induction a few after due date as they would prefer i go naturally but not much over. Is there anything you added to your hospital bag after knowing you were being induced which you think was helpful?
How did u take and store the colostrum before giving birth/knowing you will be induced? Did u freeze or refrigerate? How did u get into a syringe? Im almost 30week and got so much to do still.
Sophie Louise Taylor has done a really insightful video about colostrum harvesting, you should take a look, you basically collect it in a syringe (your midwife should supply you with some around 36/37 weeks if you ask, I ended up ordering some on ebay) and you can collect 2/3 times a day, they should be frozen until baby arrives and then you can put them in the fridge to defrost when you are ready to use them. If you are taking them to hospital with you just let the midwives know first and they will put them in the freezer for you when you arrive (store them in a zip lock bag) hope this helps but as I say check out Sophie's video! Xx
Ahh what a lovely labour you had. So pleased it was a good experience for you & George. Congratulations he is gorgeous 🙂..just wondered why you chose to bottle feed? Obviously dont answer if it's to personal xx
Thank you lovely! I’ve answered in another comment on here, lots of pros and cons for both I’m really happy with our choice and works so well for us ❤️
@@HomeWithShan amazing thank you! Wasn't any shade by the way just nosey! Think your an amazing mum and so strong to do what you want first time around! Wish I'd of had your mummy confidence Xx💕
I was in established labour for the same time as you! 56 minutes! Also an induction as I had gestational diabetes. My little boy was born at 2.33am on 2/3/21. Very similar experience to you tbh, except my waters broke on their own. I shocked the midwives as I was only 1cm at around 12.30am until my waters broke at 1.30am at which point I think I was 4cm. It all happened very quickly! And gas and air is brilliant stuff, I found it didn't really make it any less painful, just made me care less about the pain 😂 xxx
Our labour stories are soo similar, my labour was so quick too, only difference is my water broke on its own. I only used gas and air (which was amazing). I was also sick too, they said quick labours often cause sickness. I’m pregnant with number 2 now, hope I have an even quicker labour this time. Funny enough I’m so scared for the covid test, labour doesn’t faze me at all lol
Oooh exciting! I hope labour number 2 is speedy too! The covid test is over in a flash so please don’t worry too much, I feel bad for scaring people about that haha! 🙈
I had my baby boy after my waters broke on the 13th of sept at 38 weeks. I went to the labour ward at 21.19 and he was born at 21.48. The pain was horrific! I had to labour on my own due to covid on the antenatal ward and didn't have time to pain relief but would do it all again 100% so worth it x
So nice to finally hear your birth story! I’m glad it went so well for you. I hope you don’t mind me asking but is there any particular reason you have chosen not to breast feed? No hate l’m just genuinely curious as I’m due my first baby in January and have been dead set on breast feeding and now starting to realise how hard it can be for some women, so I’m kinda scared haha xx
Thank you so much lovely! On bottle feeding, I just find that for me it works best, both myself and my other half can feed him without any issues and we can easily have grandparents look after him when we want. He has a feed every 4 hrs which is a nice break for us between feeds, plus I don’t have to worry about what I eat! The only down side for me is having to get up at night and make a bottle... but I’m getting up to change his nappy anyway I guess 🙈 so many pros and cons for both but whatever you chose will be right for you and baby! Please don’t ever feel judged for choosing either way ❤️
Our experience was similar I got induced November. My cervix was completely closed at first, it took me 2 days to even dilate to a 2. Then my water broke by itself and after that the pain was insane I was begging for an epidural they checked me again and I was 8cm and before I knew it he was out!! I hated getting included though 😭😭
Your induction sounds like my induction where the pain went from 3 to 10 once they broke my waters. Except.. my epidural didn't work, babies heart rate went down and Bubba was delivered with an episiotomy + forceps, grim haha! Glad your birth went smoothly
Hahaha, this is brilliant. No one ever talks about your body naturally pushing. Uk hospital is rubbish... You birth a human being and they give you tea and toast 🙄 I am 30 weeks myself now.
So weird the times of my labour were exactly the same! Induced same time and dilated really quickly same as you and he was born at 2.45am 😍😍 watch out if you have any more, my second was born at home in like 30 mins start to finish haha x
@@HomeWithShan mine did too and they were spot on, had her at home and they didn't even arrive in time for the birth 😂 terrified now I'm due with my 3rd in a month 😬 x
Anyone reading my comment kindly clear my confusion.... Can you plz tell me that I heard, hitting on a pergnant woman baby bump hurts her so bad, is it real, means if a woman is unfortunately hit by someone or something on her baby bump(belly, stomach) hurts her bad???plz tell me home with shan And secondly I want to ask one thing to clear my confusion that I read and watched lots of vedios that during labor you can relax yourself by eating, watching something on mobile, TV and doing something but I heard that labor pain is so painful then how can a person eat, watch or can do something else in so much pain even I,i cannot even walk during periods due to pain So tell me labor pain is moreful or my periods pain is more painful??? Because if a person can eat, watch during labor then it means labor is not that painful as everyone says like during periods I can even walk Labor pain afraid me to such a extent that I was not able to listen about someone's newly born baby, it mentally hurt me so bad but when I start reading and watching vedios about it, I seriously found nothing as I thought about labor, woman even do not cry during labor as I always cry during periods due to pain, I don't know why people say labor is so painful, I seriously found nothing, I thought woman may scream, or want to die in order to get rid of pain but after searching, I found its painful but not as I was thinking, woman seem relax even at the end part of labor or only moaning and some even laughing and the end. Nothing more then this...
I love this so so much. Then my water broke by itself and after that the pain was insane I was begging for an epidural they checked me again and I was 8cm and before I knew it he was out!! I hated getting included though 😭😭
I think it was the raspberry leaf tea. Can you speak more on the tea pls? How many weeks you started drinking, how many cups per day etc
You’re probably right!! I had been drinking from 36 weeks about 2 a day but when I found out about the induction I had like 4 a day haha! X
Your induction sounds like my induction where the pain went from 3 to 10 once they broke my waters. Except.. my epidural didn't work, babies heart rate went down and Bubba was delivered with an episiotomy + forceps, grim haha! Glad your birth went smoothly
Awh bless your heart! Worth it in the end though I’m sure xxxx
Hahaha, this is brilliant. No one ever talks about your body naturally pushing. Uk hospital is rubbish... You birth a human being and they give you tea and toast 🙄 I am 30 weeks myself now.
How much did he weigh?
6lbs 6oz xxx
@@HomeWithShan Awe. I miss my babies. I love newborns.
So weird the times of my labour were exactly the same! Induced same time and dilated really quickly same as you and he was born at 2.45am 😍😍 watch out if you have any more, my second was born at home in like 30 mins start to finish haha x
Oh gosh! How mad is that!! That’s what the midwife said to me “if you have a second they’ll be here even quicker!” 🙈
@@HomeWithShan mine did too and they were spot on, had her at home and they didn't even arrive in time for the birth 😂 terrified now I'm due with my 3rd in a month 😬 x
Does George have a middle name? 😊
Keeley urmson Richard
He does! It’s Richard xx
Anyone reading my comment kindly clear my confusion.... Can you plz tell me that I heard, hitting on a pergnant woman baby bump hurts her so bad, is it real, means if a woman is unfortunately hit by someone or something on her baby bump(belly, stomach) hurts her bad???plz tell me home with shan
And secondly I want to ask one thing to clear my confusion that I read and watched lots of vedios that during labor you can relax yourself by eating, watching something on mobile, TV and doing something but I heard that labor pain is so painful then how can a person eat, watch or can do something else in so much pain even I,i cannot even walk during periods due to pain
So tell me labor pain is moreful or my periods pain is more painful???
Because if a person can eat, watch during labor then it means labor is not that painful as everyone says like during periods I can even walk
Labor pain afraid me to such a extent that I was not able to listen about someone's newly born baby, it mentally hurt me so bad but when I start reading and watching vedios about it, I seriously found nothing as I thought about labor, woman even do not cry during labor as I always cry during periods due to pain, I don't know why people say labor is so painful, I seriously found nothing, I thought woman may scream, or want to die in order to get rid of pain but after searching, I found its painful but not as I was thinking, woman seem relax even at the end part of labor or only moaning and some even laughing and the end. Nothing more then this...
