i hope this tutorial was helpful to some! making a hood is a real challenge, but it’s definitely do-able. it was really fun making this!!

@@dahliamarie8842 yes! just use tiny cuts and only cut the BACKING of the fur, not like chopping through it like a piece of paper!

So I have a question… I got my mask and I plan on making a hood for it but should I still remove the strap at the chin so the jaw can move easily? But if not, then please let me know what I should do asap! Thank you!
It looks so good! Really helpful to, I’m about to start making the hood for my Dino mask!! Just finished the eyes and painting the mask, and I have a balaclava, fur and a pattern for the hood! I have foam for the ears as well!!! I’m so excited to finish my mask! Yours looks absolutely amazing!!!

so i sort of wrote a step by step list i got from this video if anyone wants it to read :)
Draw ears on paper, trace onto foam, cut out and hot glue to mask
Glue mask straps to balaclava and put on mannequin
Draw your fur design (w/ color)
Put tape all over except for the mask and map out the fur direction, color, and part with sharpie
Cut off tape NEATLY. Lay out ur fur, backing up, and trace the tape pattern on the designated color
Sew the pattern together
Try the hood on the mannequin, trim fur, and if needed glue the hood to the balaclava????

thank you! i'll be definetely using this tutorial and any other ones i find useful when i make my masks. so far, im doing two, both for me and my friend, and it's going to be my first time... i'm doing hoods on both.
if you dont mind me asking, did you use fur squares? if so, what size and how many? is 10 x 20 good enough?

i really want these to look as good as i possibly can without looking sloppy or poorly done.

Question: Is the beige/yellow coloured piece of fur 1 big piece or is it different pieces? It would be really helpful to know. If it is, how do you make it bend around the entire head? When I try it just comes out wrinkled.

so when i took off the tape i had to cut a slit down the middle of the piece for the head, this made it lay flat and still be the correct measurements. i’m making a new hood so i will try to the remember to make a video on this and make it more clear hopefully! :)

how do i make ears without foam? my materials are pretty much just paper and cardboard 😭
any tips would be super helpful, also i can’t find the mesh for eyes, is there anything else i can use?
For eyes you can stab lots of littelholes randomly in paper with a pin and it gives ok vision and for ears glue 2 pieces of paper together and put scrunched up paper in it or stuffing in it or layer cardboard and put masking tape over it if that makes sense

i just sewed two pieces of fur together and added stuffing ! it worked perfectly ok c: i did it because i wanted a squeaker inside the ears

For the chin, what do you use? Do you cover it up or like use elastic I’m confused 😭
Cover it with Eva or other foam from the INSIDE and hot glue it on, do that before painting so u csn paint the bottom of the chin too

Wait so should you glue the ears to the mask before adding the hood or can you do that after?
it doesn’t matter! i prefer to glue the foam ears BEFORE adding fur to them because it makes the taping process easier. but no biggie if you’ve already put the furred ears onto the mask!

Hi! Where do you get your mannequin head? what is it made of, and does the dinomask weigh it down and make it fall?
i got my mannequin head from a store called hobby lobby! yes it does fall over. i’m going to get money so i can buy a better one soon. it’s made of styrofoam 😭
@@Moon_is_weird I just got a styrofoam mannequin head from Michaels like 4 days ago too 😭 I’m planning on making a stand by nailing a wood cylinder to a wood base, and stick the wood cylinder in the hole in his neck so it can stand

@@Smokeydragonshe uses 1 inch upholstery foam! If you want to make a bucket head though, people usually use 1/2 inch upholstery foam. But you can also use EVA foam for ears and bases!
