Agreed, though it's not nearly as simple as it sounds. EVERYONE needs to speak out; people of color, white people, police, policymakers... everyone. America's racist undertones and politics, combined with the lackluster education system, has led to this moment, and it's time that everyone works together to find the solution. Officer401 said it best: If this keeps up, it will lead to civil war. And, quite frankly, for those who are marginalized, I don't blame them. However, to be clear, that does not mean there are not good people on the "bad" side, as much as there are bad people on the "good" side; many people of color are good people, but this guy from this incident certainly isn't, nor are some of the anarchists. There are MANY excellent professional and friendly officers, but there are also those racist POS's that Officer401 himself has called out on. Jacob Blake literally did everything you shouldn’t do when officers are giving you orders. The clip could be used as an example and have the intended effect.

He had a knife in his hand they where shouting commands to drop the knife...even during the statement release from police chief he said they used non lethal taser and it didnt work on him then got up walked around the vehicle with a knife in his hand and then reached into the vehicle. Seems justified to me when you have someone ignoring orders from police to drop the knife, mind you after failed takedown from non lethal force, then trying to reach into a vehicle. Doesnt matter ethnicity, doesnt matter prior offenses...although that does not help this case.

He had a knife and if you watch the video itself at one point you can see something in his hand, he also told the wisoncsin attorney general that he did have a knife after he was shot. His own lawyer even said "he did not have a knife inside the car", but it was determined that he had a knife, so that means he had the knife when outside the car...

Astro search it up, there are pictures of him with a knife when he was outside the car. He also told the cops afterwards he had a knife. His lawyer also said he didn’t have a knife in the car, and a knife was found so that means he had it outside the car (with the other pieces of evidence it makes sense). I mean it makes sense if you think about it, the cops didn’t tackle him or anything and looked very cautious and were yelling at him to drop something (figures it is the knife). I've been getting some mad hate messages for this video. Lol. Let me clear some things up. 1. Blake himself admitted to having a knife. So no, he wasn't unarmed. 2. Blake "breaking up" a domestic is a lie. In a police call, a dispatcher names Blake and says he "isn't supposed to be there" and that he took the complainant's keys and refused to leave. 3. When officers arrived, they attempted to arrest Blake and used a Taser to try to stop him. It failed. 4. A second video obtained by CNN shows Blake struggling with police officers near the back of his SUV. Witness statements said they were striking him and trying to hold him and he got loose and walked to his driver door. So yes, they did try to physically restrain and tase him before he was shot. 5. A bystander who recorded a video of the incident heard police yelling "drop the knife". 6. He was shot 4 times out of 7 rounds discharged, not shot 7 times. 7. A knife was found where he fell on the driver-side floorboard. Imagine that. If you refuse to see facts and only want to see things from a 2-dimensional aspect, that's not my problem. Calling me racist for making a video about the facts is comical, and over-played. And no, I will not stop making videos because YOU have a problem with them. If you don't like them, don't watch. 1. Don’t show up to a girlfriend’s place uninvited when she has a restraining order against you. 2. Don’t resist arrest when she calls the police on you and they show up to place you under arrest. 3. Don’t get up and walk around to get inside your car and reach for a weapon. 4. Don’t ignore the pleas and screams from your girlfriend as well as other people who are witnessing you get arrested to stop resisting and listen to the police officers’ commands. 5. Don’t ignore repeated warnings from the police officers to stop resisting and comply with the arrest before you get shot 7 times. Jacob Blake failed to meet the above-written criteria miserably. The sad part is that all he had to do was meet criterion #1 and he wouldn’t have had to worry about criterions #2 through #5. By meeting criterion #1, he would have avoided an encounter with the police entirely. It’s terrible that he was shot and paralyzed and by no means is it a good thing that this was the result of the incident, but he escalated the situation with his actions. If he had exercised some personal responsibility by not showing up to his girlfriend’s place when he knew that he wasn’t supposed to be there, he wouldn’t be in the situation he’s in now. He brought this all on himself.

His girlfriend called the cops and stated he wasn't allowed to be there and he had taken her keys 3.She stated he was a possible threat, hence the 99 dispatch code 4. His criminal rap sheet is a mile long 5. he resisted arrest and a scuffle broke out on the ground 6. Tasers where deployed with no affect 7. He said he had a knife and retreated to his vehicle. 8. He reached up under the driver's seat to grab who knows what. 9. Shots fired by officer. 10.His lawyer lied and said he was breaking up a dispute when he was actually part of the dispute.
I've just subscribed. It was actually another video that I first watched and this is only the second but I needed something to calm my nerves. I'm a junior in highschool and in principles of law. Today we looked at cases of violence against children and one happened in my city only a few years ago when a mother decapitated and cannibalized her child. I was good up until that point but I had to leave class after that cuz it was just too close to home. I still want to be a cop because I want to be the person who puts people like that in cuffs. I want to be there when someone climbs off a bridge because they're now convinced their life is worth living. I know now that being a cop is nowhere near as glamorous as it sounds but I still want to help as much as I can. Idk why I said all that I just wanted you to know I appreciate the work you do both as a UA-camr and officer.
Not going to lie, I don’t like cops. I think we need more accountability and public transparency. But the protesters and those who rally around them are not saints. Burning down businesses and attacking others ruins reputations for those who want good and actual change. I’d like to think the cops could have used a better method but I am not a cop and I don’t have the knowledge of how to determine escalation. News outlets give out false narratives, but we should all try to see and listen to the other side and try a compromise. I appreciate this content creators opinion and insight as a cop. tcorbin60 I think the idea is utilizing a firearm in this situation was not needed. I am fairly sure our police force is trained to detain people who are not listening to commands. Why didn’t the two officers have him on the ground when he went to open his door and during the time he was going into his car. There is still a very big issue regardless on how you look at it. You shouldn’t be able to walk to your driver door, without the officers getting control over him. He was a criminal, but as you see, the firearm was taken out before he even got to the driver side door. If he had a knife in hand, I find it concerning that police in the UK armed with only tazers and stab resistant vests can subdue a man with two steak knives (you can find the video on UA-cam) and our police cannot seem to get a handle on a man with probably no more than a six inch blade. I expect more from our authority figures and I can understand the lack of wanting to get stabbed but this is their job. They are paid to do this exact type of work. I’m only going off speculation and the video, not what either side is trying to say.

Police are supposed to attempt non lethal force 1st (maybe they did, it isn't clear from initial info.) then deadly if the threat is imminent... If he has his back to them and not armed and just sauntering to his car, there may have been some other options... tackle him, taser him? There were TWO cops, too. There is a report that Blake made a verbal threat, however, which may have changed the game. I still think protocols need to change so that police can immobilize versus kill a suspect. The aim should always be to preserve life not take it no matter a person's background.

How can you use "totality of circumstances" as an argument here? The officers LET him get up, walk the whole way around the vehicle, and open his driver-side door. They had ample time to subdue him and they chose not to. The officers are still at fault for not properly deescalating no matter how you look at it.

He had a knife and if you watch the video itself at one point you can see something in his hand, he also told the wisoncsin attorney general that he did have a knife after he was shot. His own lawyer even said "he did not have a knife inside the car", but it was determined that he had a knife, so that means he had the knife when outside the car...

I've been getting some mad hate messages for this video. Lol. Let me clear some things up.
1. Blake himself admitted to having a knife. So no, he wasn't unarmed.
2. Blake "breaking up" a domestic is a lie. In a police call, a dispatcher names Blake and says he "isn't supposed to be there" and that he took the complainant's keys and refused to leave.
3. When officers arrived, they attempted to arrest Blake and used a Taser to try to stop him. It failed.
4. A second video obtained by CNN shows Blake struggling with police officers near the back of his SUV. Witness statements said they were striking him and trying to hold him and he got loose and walked to his driver door. So yes, they did try to physically restrain and tase him before he was shot.
5. A bystander who recorded a video of the incident heard police yelling "drop the knife".
6. He was shot 4 times out of 7 rounds discharged, not shot 7 times.
7. A knife was found where he fell on the driver-side floorboard. Imagine that.
If you refuse to see facts and only want to see things from a 2-dimensional aspect, that's not my problem. Calling me racist for making a video about the facts is comical, and over-played. And no, I will not stop making videos because YOU have a problem with them. If you don't like them, don't watch. Jacob Blake failed to meet the above-written criteria miserably. The sad part is that all he had to do was meet criterion #1 and he wouldn’t have had to worry about criterions #2 through #5. By meeting criterion #1, he would have avoided an encounter with the police entirely. It’s terrible that he was shot and paralyzed and by no means is it a good thing that this was the result of the incident, but he escalated the situation with his actions. If he had exercised some personal responsibility by not showing up to his girlfriend’s place when he knew that he wasn’t supposed to be there, he wouldn’t be in the situation he’s in now. He brought this all on himself.

The tazer strike angered him and he then went to grab his gun from his car, one source claimed he told the police he was going to get his gun. I do not know the whole story yet so I'm reserving my judgment. Does anyone know if there are dash cams or body cams that haven't been released yet?

The officers walked him around to the driver side door. They could have tased him before he got in the car.The man having warrants had nothing to do with protocol. 5. he resisted arrest and a scuffle broke out on the ground
6. Tasers where deployed with no affect
7. He said he had a knife and retreated to his vehicle.
8. He reached up under the driver's seat to grab who knows what.
9. Shots fired by officer.
10.His lawyer lied and said he was breaking up a dispute when he was actually part of the dispute.

I've just subscribed. It was actually another video that I first watched and this is only the second but I needed something to calm my nerves. I'm a junior in highschool and in principles of law. Today we looked at cases of violence against children and one happened in my city only a few years ago when a mother decapitated and cannibalized her child. I was good up until that point but I had to leave class after that cuz it was just too close to home. I still want to be a cop because I want to be the person who puts people like that in cuffs. I want to be there when someone climbs off a bridge because they're now convinced their life is worth living. I know now that being a cop is nowhere near as glamorous as it sounds but I still want to help as much as I can. Idk why I said all that I just wanted you to know I appreciate the work you do both as a UA-camr and officer.

Not going to lie, I don’t like cops. I think we need more accountability and public transparency. But the protesters and those who rally around them are not saints. Burning down businesses and attacking others ruins reputations for those who want good and actual change. I’d like to think the cops could have used a better method but I am not a cop and I don’t have the knowledge of how to determine escalation. News outlets give out false narratives, but we should all try to see and listen to the other side and try a compromise. I appreciate this content creators opinion and insight as a cop. It really has given me more thoughts on this situation.

tcorbin60 I think the idea is utilizing a firearm in this situation was not needed. I am fairly sure our police force is trained to detain people who are not listening to commands. Why didn’t the two officers have him on the ground when he went to open his door and during the time he was going into his car. There is still a very big issue regardless on how you look at it. You shouldn’t be able to walk to your driver door, without the officers getting control over him. He was a criminal, but as you see, the firearm was taken out before he even got to the driver side door. If he had a knife in hand, I find it concerning that police in the UK armed with only tazers and stab resistant vests can subdue a man with two steak knives (you can find the video on UA-cam) and our police cannot seem to get a handle on a man with probably no more than a six inch blade. I expect more from our authority figures and I can understand the lack of wanting to get stabbed but this is their job. They are paid to do this exact type of work. I’m only going off speculation and the video, not what either side is trying to say.

Police are supposed to attempt non lethal force 1st (maybe they did, it isn't clear from initial info.) then deadly if the threat is imminent... If he has his back to them and not armed and just sauntering to his car, there may have been some other options... tackle him, taser him? There were TWO cops, too. There is a report that Blake made a verbal threat, however, which may have changed the game. I still think protocols need to change so that police can immobilize versus kill a suspect. The aim should always be to preserve life not take it no matter a person's background.

How can you use "totality of circumstances" as an argument here? The officers LET him get up, walk the whole way around the vehicle, and open his driver-side door. They had ample time to subdue him and they chose not to. The officers are still at fault for not properly deescalating no matter how you look at it.
@DS S Yes they let him. If you watch the video(s) you can see the officers walk behind him with their guns drawn as he goes around the car. They had him on the ground once and should've had him on the ground again if they thought they were in danger. No need to draw the guns in the first place.
