Great to see these classic cars again . My late grandad had one of what must been the very first mk1. Basic 1300 ‘s in a brown colour. As kids at the time we thought it was so fast and sporty even though he rarely exceeded 30 miles an hour god bless him 😊 20 years later I became the owner of a 2.8 I. . It’s incredible that Ford designed a car that could accommodate such a big range of engines. Looking at the prices now I wish I had kept mine as it would be worth a fortune now .
Yes, it was an amazing event, I was privileged to have been there! Mark I Capris are very rare, but I did see some lovely ones, even 1300s like your grandfather's. The most common type seemed to be the 2.8 Injections like yours, which is not surprising, as they are great! Prices have gone up a bit recently, haven't they?
Thanks to all concerned for putting on this meeting. It was a fantastic day. Thanks for the nice comments on my '81 3 litre Ghia. She still scrubs up pretty well despite being restored over 20 ears ago............
Yes, it's a lovely car! Such a fantastic selection of Capris there and superb weather. I am hoping to get a review of a Mark III on the channel soon, although I think it will be an early 2.8 Injection.
I'm from the US and my friend and I attended this meet and he even appeared in the background of your video. It was very impressive display of Capris. I've owned 4 of them but none since 2006.
Thank you ever so much indeed for watching! That is fantastic to have a viewer from America. Yes, it was a packed event with ever so many cars there, not surprised I filmed most of the people who were there.
No problem at all, glad you enjoyed it! Just filmed a similar series of Slightly Shambolic Shuffles at the BMC and Leyland Show at the British Motor Museum, which you can also see on the channel, and I should have a review of a Capri 2.8 Injection coming up soon too.
Hi graham , that WGO937W 3.0s was mine,I put those wheels and spoilers on it in the mid 90s . when I bought it in 1994 it had only about 20,000 miles on it, it was mint condition but the paint had gone anodised and flat so I bare metal sprayed it, fitted full jansspeeds ,I sourced the wider Xpack alloys that’s on it and spoilers direct from a Ford agent , I was very lucky because they had been discontinued for sometime ,, I did intend keeping it as a weekend fun car , but being a motor trader, I thought I would try my luck and advertise it for double of what I paid for /spent on it,sold it in the back of the fast ford Magazine . I recently put a photograph on the Capri Club group on Facebook of it . Would love one day to have a look at it if you ever at a show . 👍🏼
Thanks ever so much indeed, Andrew! Yours is a classic 2.8 Injection in a beautiful colour. Sorry I had to race straight past it in the row, I was trying to get round everything, and I couldn't stop for long...
Owned a 1972 2.6 liter german built capri forest green metallic with black vinyl roof. Here in the US but have visited the UK and have been to a capri club international meet in Birmingham. That was great fun.
Thank you ever so much indeed! Yes, some beautifully presented cars and some real rarities. Absolutely right, such a huge variety of colours on offer from Ford in the 1970s, much more so than today.
Well sir, you will be pleased to know that we did eventually get a Capri in for Tweed Jacket Reviews in October 2020, which was a Forest Green 1982 2.8 Injection with a four speed gearbox. I love the colour and I loved driving it! Hope you enjoyed the video.
Thankyou so much for uploading, as a former Capri owner for 22 years it brought back so many memories. The MK 1 3.0 GTs at 7.40 and 14.25 e.t.c are actually RS 3.1s of which only 248 were made so it was really good to see so many there. By the way your knowledge of the Capri is actually very good, better than most of my Rover knowledge. Thanks once again Sir.
Thanks Andy! Yes those RS 3100s were actually badged as 3000 GTs as well, which made it really, really confusing for me. As you say, very rare and desirable cars. Can you remind me which Capri that you had? I think you may have told me, but I have forgotten! Jason's beautiful 1987 (at least it was registered that year) grey 2.0 Laser should be appearing on the channel at some point next year in a full review, and I am really looking forward to it...
@@lloydvehicleconsulting Yes I had a 1.6 D Reg Laser which I owned from 1990 to 2012 I was only 18 in 1990 hence why it was a 1.6 rather than a 2.8, great car after a couple of sensible mods such a Webber carb and electronic ignition. I actually live in Essex and when I first had it me and my brother went on a camping holiday to Scotland in it visiting John O`Groats then the following year we went camping down to Cornwall visiting Lands End, many happy memories. Regards Andy.
Oh wow, yes, I remember you mentioning it now! Sounds like a great car. Those certainly were long trips you took at the age of 18 or 19. I used to do that sort of journey with friends in the car I had at the age of 19, a 1997 Mazda 323F 1.5 Innsbruck Special Edition, which I absolutely loved. They aren't worth very much at all these days... The 1987 Capri 2.0 Laser will be having a full review next year, and I can't wait!
No problem at all, this has been surprisingly popular over the last couple of years, and I finally got to drive a 1982 Capri 2.8 Injection four speed on the channel last year. Will be back at Brooklands later this month for more fast Fords...
Thanks ever so much indeed for watching! Yes, some seriously tasty cars on display that day, weren't there? The rare Mark Is were almost universally in superb condition.
Thanks ever so much indeed, Jason! It was great to meet you and some of the other enthusiasts. I was privileged to be able to see your beautiful car in person too, it was one of the best ones there!
As a big fan in the States it was beautiful to see! Severally underappreciated over here. I've owned an early Mk1 2.0, a late Mk1 2.8 both of which I autocrossed, a '76 2.8 Giha and finally a '76 2.8 which I autocrossed. The last one was lowered a rear sway bar added to reduce understeer and the front bar located to eliminate slippage. Barells of fun, miss them all and always a rare sight here. Wished for an X pack to this day.
Thanks very much indeed! Glad you enjoyed the video. That is a lot of Capris, particularly if you are in America. There should be some more videos on this theme coming up on the channel soon if you are interested...
I worked for Broadspeed from 1970-75 building race and road cars. We built about 30 or so turbo capris and I remember building the bronze Broadspeed Turbo Bullit back in early 1972. Amongst others there were two that were exported to Spain for exhibit at the Barcelona Motor Show by Giuseppe Riesi in 1973. One was red the other blue. The blue one was then bought by Rafael Barrios. He had it converted to left hand drive. It eventually found its way back to the UK some years later.
Thank you ever so much indeed for watching and commenting! Wonderful to have someone who actually worked on some of the really special Capris watching the channel. Got another event that I am attending at Brooklands this weekend. I know that Broadspeed also modified a Jaguar XJC for The New Avengers in 1976.
No problem at all, glad you enjoyed it! Didn't realise people were exercising watching the video. I drove a Mark III Capri 2.8 Injection four speed last year and it was exquisite.
@@Harbaksh1234 , it was brilliant! Had to wait a couple of years for the opportunity, but it was worth it. The review is part of the Tweed Jacket Reviews series. I think I may have another Capri review coming up soon, just got to wait for some more of these restrictions to lift!
Yes, I did come away from the event really, really wanting one! I was blessed to have then done a walkaround on a lovely 280 Brooklands on my channel last month, and I hope to do the same for a Mark III Laser very soon...
You mentioned how dealers change and move over time. In Coleraine we had a charming dealer in the main pedestrian street. It looked amazing walking past taking in the Mk3 Escorts and Fiestas in the lighted showroom after dark. It's now divided between Boots the Chemist and Top Shop and Top Man. Not progress really.
Thanks ever so much indeed for watching! I recently got to drive a 1982 Forest Green 2.8 Injection with a four speed gearbox on the channel, and it was absolutely brilliant.
My dad owned a 1969 Mk1 3000e dark blue left hand drive. Journalist in Denmark used it for 2 weeks to show it, then he bought it at the Ford dealer in Denmark.
Wonderful! Those Mk I Capris are really rare now. Such a pleasure to have viewers from all over Europe watching the channel! I have literally just uploaded a full review of a 1982 Capri 2.8 Injection to the channel today, so do have a look at that if you are interested.
I want a rust free Capri in 2022 ! Thanks mate, I got here through your page and input. I love Capris. Had a 1.6L S plate for 6 years , sold when I went abroad. I had modified it, as you did in the day, buy a small engine cheap and customize as we used to say. Was a 2.0S Turbo when I finished. I had small money available as a miner and took time. Was not the best destination , but I was young and cash strapped. Since I've had a few cars, Porsche etc but never loved a car more than my original Capri. The fact that you walk around and show all there, as if we were there ! I am in the USA so missed this ! Brilliant 2022, Houston Texas, I want to buy one, no rust and elevate it to a Mustang beater ! The Capri was so more beautiful than any Mustang (!) do you agree ? I want to build a 2023 Capri that Ford Should have built ! Who can sell me a good MkII ?
Yes, they should have built a proper follow up to the Capri, and they tried several times with the Probe and the Cougar, but it never quite worked for them. At the time I made this, I didn't know how to edit, and so this was one massive file, hence why it feels like being there, since it was very much as it came... The Capri IIs were sold in America until 1978 from what I remember, but they aren't exactly common anywhere any more!
The Blue LS. Those Alloys are Mkv Cortina Alloys Never used on any capri. The LS came on steel deep dished Wheels. Those Square hole alloys were Cortina Ghia ONLY. a larger similar version was used on the Last Mk2 Granada. The Capri LS was a budget version to drop the price to shift more metal. A similar version of the Square hole Alloys was used on the Fiesta Ghia Mk1. They Made a Capri 2.3, using the cologne 2.3 V6 from the Cortina / Granada. This engine was for overseas markets ONLY and LHD. This engine would have made the Perfect Capri. 2.3 V6 Cologne with a 5 speed box = MAGIC !!
Thanks very much indeed! I have a full review of the Mark 2 Granada Ghia X Estate in my profile picture on my UA-cam channel if you are interested in seeing it. The owner is a huge Ford fan and was really informative about all these lovely old cars and the different wheels. It's really hard to find a Capri 1.6 LS on the original wheels and yes, I did get that wrong. The Cortina Ghia wheels do look good, though! The Granada Ghia/TRX wheels are also similar, but not the same. The Belgian 2.3 S I filmed in the video was a really nice surprise to see, but we didn't get it over here, sadly, as you say. Got a full walkaround of a 1987 (although it was manufactured in 1986) Capri 280 Brooklands coming up on my channel soon, and I also have two podcasts on the cars of The Professionals which went up this week. Looking forward to doing a full review on a 1987 Ford Capri 2.0 Laser next year too!
That's because I am a massive fan of The Professionals and the Capri's use in that series is absolutely iconic, so much so that I think even now, it is a big reason why the Capri has become so fondly remembered in the popular consciousness. Thank you ever so much indeed for watching, I finally got to drive a 1982 2.8 Injection four speed last year on the channel and it was absolutely fantastic.
Hi great video I remember seeing you on the day walking round filming the cars and seeing you chatting to Jason and some of the other members of our group. Sorry I didn't come over and say hello but there was a lot of Capris and people to see. Thanks for filming my 1.6 Laser at 38:43 one of a few 1.6 Lasers there. I see you really liked the colour of Jason's beautiful 2.0 Laser its mercury grey which only the last Lasers off the production line were painted in. I'm also a huge fan of the professionals like yourself. Unfortunately the glacier blue 1.6 LS you said it was great it has its original wheels on aren't they're alloys off a mk5 cortina Ghia, it should have steel wheels originally. It was a fantastic day and the turn out was incredible nearly 300 Capris were there to celebrate a true iconic motoring legends 50th anniversary.
Thanks Daniel! Yes, it was an absolute pleasure to be there, and to see so many cars at the Brooklands Museum. It was a bit crazy in terms of the parking situation, I must say... Sorry that I didn't get to say hello either, it was quite an intense day, as you say! Jason's Capri 2.0 Laser is pencilled in for a full review on my channel at some point next year, and it was a pleasure to meet him (and the car) in person and also to see other fine specimens there such as yours. A teacher when I was at prep school in 1992 had a Capri 1.6 LS. Can't remember what wheels his had, hence getting that wrong. Were there actually any 1.6 LS models there with the correct wheels? Clearly, I am not a Capri expert! The Cortina 80 Ghia wheels always remind me of the Mk2 Granada Ghia/TRX wheels, although they are clearly not the same. If you like The Professionals, then I have two podcasts on The Cars Of The Professionals to be released on the channel next week! Thanks again.
Talk about a capri for everyone!..as much as I would love a 280 my special capri is the first blue one my dad had a identical one but a 2.0 gl with a plane biscuit interior I 🤔 same gorgeous blue and wheels. Iv been searching for one for years a real blast from the past quite emotional tbh ha
Oh yes, lots and lots of Capris! It was quite a day, I am amazed how well this video still continues to do, it was recorded quite a while ago now, whilst my Capri knowledge was still in its infancy. I got to drive a 1982 2.8 Injection four speed last year, which was quite an experience. Thank you ever so much indeed for watching!
I actually drove a 1982 Forest Green 2.8 Injection with the pepperpot wheels on it last year on the channel. It was absolutely fantastic? Thanks ever so much for watching!
The silver 2,3 S with Belgian plates (around 17.00) doe shave correct seats. Those seats replaced the fishnet seats in MY '83. and this one is '83 MY '84. Second owner. NIce video.
Consul Capri was a 1.5. I think that the Green car with the boot spoiler, black bonnet and corner bumpers was the wonderful RS 3100. A couple of very rare American Market Capris which look like Mk1 Facelifts with twin headlamps and Amber marker lights on the sides for Federal Legislation. They are recognisable by the lettering on the bonnet reading simply CAPRI because they were imported German built cars with a 2.6 litre Cologne V6 and sold through Lincoln/Mercury Dealers.
Welcome, Mr Cooke, to the most popular video on my channel! By far... This one is from September 2019, suffice it to say that I have learned a bit more about Capris since then. There was actually more than one RS 3100 there that day, they are VERY confusingly badged. You are right about the American ones, extremely rare over here.
cool 4:25 the Silver 2.0 Ghia, we used to have one in 1986, in jade Green, what i still can`t get my head round to this day is why a MKIII Capri should have a MKII bonnet..the Headlights stuck out alot, im sure there`s photo`s of it, i used to clean it and polish it up, aged 14.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting Just eight weeks now, where has the year flown to, thats the end result of another Covid year, hope you managed to meet most of your goals this year.👍👌🍺🍻🥃🌎🗽💚
@@vernonmatthews181 , yes, I think around ten weeks to go. I don't tend to set New Year's Resolutions, as I don't find them very useful, but we certainly have done a lot this year....
The mk1's with the flat face RS wheels, duck tail rear spoiler, flared front arches and gold striping were RS3100's (ford badged them as GT's, however).
Thanks ever so much indeed! Yes, I did find the badging confusing, as it did not seem to make much sense, but I did some research afterwards and found out that all of them (and I did see a few) were the RS3100s. Must be worth a fortune these days!
At least these Capris were legit 4 to 5 seaters which were fast and reliable. Compared to many cars who claim 2+2 config but do not fit rear seat passengers comfortably, like Porsches. I myself owned a 1977 Ford Escort Brenda 1600 twin weber and la 1979 Escort RS2000X in signal orange. How I miss those cars.
Nice vid but you missed the fact that most of the Mk1 3000GT were actually rare RS3100! All had the decal on the fuel filler door saying 'Spa special RS3100'
Yes, this video was filmed over 18 months ago and I was bombarded with similar comments in the days after it went up. I did apologise at the start of the video for any mistakes I was going to make, and it looks like I am going to have to apologise again...
@@andicog , glad you enjoyed it! Finally got to drive a Capri about six months ago, which was a 1982 2.8 Injection four speed, and absolutely loved it.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting They're a great fun car, nice predictable handling, I'm only hooked cos my dad had a brand new 1600xl facelift in 73, then a used 3000E. I had a few 3 litres, Mk1 GXL and two mk 2, they were nice and cheap back then, £900 bought a nice 3.0 S, if only we had a time machine. 👍
@@andicog , gosh, a 3.0S for £900! They are a bit more than that now. I did manage to slide the 2.8 Injection ever so slightly, which was very easy, although the brakes were shockingly bad, which I gather is a common Capri trait... I wouldn't be a proper Professionals fan if I hadn't actually now driven a Capri and recorded the experience!
I always wanted to get one of these cars and get a Shelby Super Snake or Shelby 1000 crate engine kit, lots of modifications, the right kinds of tires, and brutal sounding exhaust with a throaty and primal muscle car growl for either this version of the Capri or its Mercury Capri counterparts.
thanks for video nice to see my car 36.23 Helios gold mkII 3.0 Ghia you are correct in saying it should have a vinyl roof unfortunately my roof, like the rest of of my car was rotten , not too much of it is now original inc the 2.9 BOA engine and lot's more , however great vid of the day thanks for doing it
No problem at all, Trevor! I really appreciate you watching through a very lengthy video to find the treasure you were looking for. The Mark IIs are such rare cars now, it was a delight to see yours, as it reminds me of the car which Lewis Collins drove in the later episodes of the first season of The Professionals! Should have a full review of a Capri 2.0 Laser on my channel at some point next year. You do keep your car in wonderful condition!
This is a very old video now, it was made almost two and a half years ago. It is full of mistakes and inconsistencies, as all the commentary was done live and the only editing was the pause button. Since this time, my knowledge of Capris and the general presentation of the channel has been improved. I do know what a John Player Special Capri is, it had been a long day by the time I finished recording. I am surprised so many people are still watching this video, to be honest....
I think the best look ever was the mk3 2.0S and 3.0S with black vinyl roof. For some reason that has always been my favorite. I'm actually surprised how few of the UK cars had vinyl roof. All better model Granadas and Capris that came to Finland were always with vinyl roof. 2.8i was good looking too but I didn't care for the last set of rims.
This is a very old video now, but I did actually drive a 2.8 Injection four speed in 2020. We did not get many Mark III Capris or Mark II Granadas with vinyl roofs over here, and I suppose in the long run, that was not too bad, as they were good at hiding rust...
WGO 937W green 3.0s , I put those wheels and spoilers on it in the 90s . I think was my car in 1994 , I sold it in the back of the fast ford Magazine .
Thank you ever so much indeed for watching! Yes, all types of Capri there, such a huge variety on the day. I was blessed to have finally driven a Mark III 2.8 Injection on the Tweed Jacket Reviews series on my channel in October 2020. Predictably, it was brilliant!

Thanks very much indeed for watching the video! It sounds as if your father had a lot of Capris, most of the models which I saw at the 50th Anniversary Celebrations, in fact. I just did a walkaround of a 280 Brooklands on my channel earlier this week as well, since I was offered the chance of being able to have a look at the inside of one in detail, which of course I accepted. You are right about the rising prices, good Capris are getting a bit dear, aren't they? Must be difficult for you in that sense, sounds as if you have quite an emotional bond with these cars, like a lot of people I have met. The custom Laser your father had sounds fascinating, I should be doing a full review on a 2.0 Laser (which appears in this video) at some point next year.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting you could say that. Part of my dream is to be able to look at the backseat and see own 2 and 4 year old back there looking back at me just as I did looking at my dad. His capris were the center of my life. I remember polishing his wheels of his 3ltr gxl in the garden and breaking down due to running out of fuel, going to all the capri club shows it's all so engrained in my childhood. Some might say its nostalgia but for me it's far more its definatly emotional. My parents split when I was 7 the best years of my life they were. From then it went downhill we stopped going to shows it was never the same. Dad had his big accident when I was 8 or 9 my life was not fun anymore. I even shed many tears everytime I saw the poor car on dads drive the car being a wreck I remember telling the car when I visited my father how much I loved it, how much it meant to me and how much I'll remember the car. The car was well known in the show scene in its day along with some others friends of my dads included a red 3.0 xpack with custom airbrushing over the bonnet of a scantily clad lady and a wizard casting spells down the side I bet dom Coleman would easily remember that if he was a part of the scene way back in 90s. The car sits very heavy on my heart so much so that if you have ever seen Christine the movie the way the 58 plymouth fury had over Arnie the same could be said about my dads last capri. I have a similar connection to his 73 gxl however I was about 4 so it maybe didnt have a much of an impact I still remember it though I have a photo of that with me stood beside it that's the one he broke down in i still remember the exact spot it was lol Can I just say Thankyou so much for listening to my story there is much more I could probably say but I've wrote enough thankyou. I would just like to say that if I one day have a chance to spend just one full day or weekend with one to show my wife and kids just how amazing the car you always promised yourself makes me feel that would be the only thing I would ever ask for if at any time my days become numbered that would be the perfect end for me

I absolutely adore the Aston Martin Tickford Capri , the car that caused me to love performance cars. Used to see a white with white wheels D reg one back in the days in North London area. My idea of exotica with : a turbo , lsd , rear axle locating A -frame mod ( better handling ), unique and striking body kit with the blanked off grill , wood and leather interior ( leather a option ), and , more torque ( 260lbft )than horsepower ( 205bhp). They also came in : red , navy blue , silver , flaxen mist (metallic yellow / one off ) , green , sky blue , gloss black. You could have any colour as an option back in the 80's. Finally , they were quick as all hell to boot ! If I had a car collection there would be a space for a white with white wheels Dreg Tickford Turbo Capri.
Thanks ever so much indeed! Yes, I have since found out that the Tickford came in a number of other colours, but the white ones seem to be the most popular. There was also a black one there which turned up later. The electric window option was unique to the Tickford too, of course. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing them all there, not surprised they still have their fans these days.

One of my regrets was not buying a mk1 1600xl in 1983, think it was going for £300, was persuaded to buy something more sensible, a maxi 1750 for £145.
Love a bit of capri porn, had about 10 of those back in the 80s when you could pick a mk 1 facelift up for 250 quid doubt you could buy a bonnet for one now for twice that
Yes, absolutely! Capri bonnets are worth even more than that for certain models now. I actually have more Capri content coming up this month on the channel if you are interested!
7:42 That’s an RS3100. Only 250 were made and because of the oil crisis they struggled to sell. In the end 50 had to be shipped over to Australia to be sold there. I think now there are about 40 RS3100’s left in the UK overall.🙂👍
Thanks ever so much indeed! Yes, a lot of viewers have pointed out the various RS3100s in the video, I am ashamed to say that in my shambolic way, I didn't really know what they were before I arrived... Certainly do now, though! Funny how they struggled to sell in the 1970s and now they are worth an absolute fortune.
Lloyd Vehicle Consulting I suppose it gets to a point we’re they aren’t worth much and it’s a lot easier just to trade them in or scrap them. My dad’s friend had a Marine blue RS3100 in the 80’s and only 10 were painted in that colour. In the end he traded it in for a reliant scimitar because it had a fibreglass body so it wouldn’t rot like the capri did😂🤣 I did see an RS3100 come up for auction not that long ago and i think it sold for 50K😂
@@jamesappleyard7459 , hindsight is always a funny thing, isn't it? In 2003, Wheeler Dealers bought a Capri Laser for less than £500 and lost money doing it up. 17 years later, a nice Capri 280 Brooklands is around £35,000 and an RS3100, as you say, is around £50,000 or more. Absolutely insane price increases! Reliant Scimitars aren't worth as much these days, I believe...
@@jamesappleyard7459, that's not that bad at all! With Capris ever increasing in value, Reliant Scimitars, some of which have the same engines as Capris, are looking very affordable indeed.
No problem at all, Mike! Yes, the Mark III Capri does have a similar braking system to the Mark IV/V Cortina, so that would make sense that you can put the Cortina Ghia wheels on it. I actually released a review of a 1982 Capri 2.8 Injection on the channel last week if you are interested...
@@lloydvehicleconsulting I'll have a look, my first car was an Oyster gold 1.6 GL, brown vinyl roof and Ghia alloys, i had a 2.0s, 2.0 laser, 2x 2.8injection specials...I loved them all, I'll win the lottery and by myself another, if the wife lets me lol
Wow, that's a lot of Capris. Prices seem to be on the rise at the moment, the 2.8 Injection I drove is worth around £12-15,000. I am hoping that I will be able to review a Capri 2.0 Laser at some point as well, as a viewer has very kindly offered one to me.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting well I've experienced them all give or take, there is just a certain charm about them whether it's a basic 1.6L or a 280 brooklands...I'm envious of you
@@mikel4663 , yes, I have now filmed four Capris in addition to all of these lovely ones at Brooklands, to get to finally drive a 2.8 Injection last month was a dream come true.
I finally got to drive a Mark III 2.8 Capri back in October as part of the Tweed Jacket Reviews series on my channel. I absolutely loved it! I see why people still hanker so much after these cars.
Thank you very much indeed for watching! I have a review of a Capri 2.8 Injection four speed on the Tweed Jacket Reviews playlist on my channel which was recorded about a year after this.
I would have to look through again (it is a 45 minute video, and I filmed it two and a half years ago), but there were some Mark II Capris there, and at least one of them was a John Player Special (I think), but don't hold me to it....
@@lloydvehicleconsulting hi i watched your episode all the way through didn't see any i just wondered if you saw some but didn't video them, i thought back in the day they looked superb.
Oh yes, it was one of two cars there on the day which exactly resembled the Mark III Capris which Lewis Collins drove in the final four series of The Professionals.
my dad had a blue /white consul capri back in the day and it was quick for the time, he sold it for an easy start addicted, beford doormobile....what a mistake....
Thanks Nicholas! Wow, that is quite a change. The blue and white Consul Capri sounds absolutely beautiful. Must have been a bit of a disappointment when he changed it for the Bedford!
@@lloydvehicleconsulting it was...the capri was a much better car. but after the bedford he had a vw type 2 camper for 25yrs - which was really cool. so its swings and roundabouts.
Wow, well I am pleased that I got it right at the end. It was one of the seminal videos on this channel, a true privilege to have been there. I have since done walkarounds on a 1.6 Laser and a Capri 280 on the channel (both very late Mark IIIs) and I have actually been offered an early 2.8 Injection for a full review, so hopefully I will be able to record the video soon. Thanks again for watching!
That is a very late Mk2 indeed! I recently got to drive a MkIII 2.8 Injection with a four speed gearbox courtesy of a channel viewer, and it was brilliant. I can see how easily you can end up in a ditch, though!
my uncle has 2 brand new unregistered capris. he was partner in a ford dealership that went bust in 1982 , some of the inventory fouind its way into his barn and been there ever since, he has a cortina 1.6L and a fiesta `festival` also :-O
That's wonderful! Those cars must be worth an absolute fortune if they were brand new and unregistered, Yes, the early 1980s were difficult economic times, weren't they?
What an absolutely stunning turn out, and ALL beautiful cars..Well done, and thanks for the video...

Yes, an amazing collection, this is a really old video now! Thank you for watching.
Fantastic video! A terrific memento of what was a brilliant day.

Yes, it was a fantastic day! I drove a Forest Green 2.8 Injection four speed from 1982 on the channel last year, and it was absolutely briilliant.
A good show seeing all the beautiful models!.......Ford offered some great colours during the 70's. Many thanks for sharing.
Thank you ever so much indeed! Yes, some beautifully presented cars and some real rarities. Absolutely right, such a huge variety of colours on offer from Ford in the 1970s, much more so than today.
Oh I always fancied owning a Capri but I was too young when they came out on sale ( born 77)that green one was in phenomenal condition 😍😍
Well sir, you will be pleased to know that we did eventually get a Capri in for Tweed Jacket Reviews in October 2020, which was a Forest Green 1982 2.8 Injection with a four speed gearbox. I love the colour and I loved driving it! Hope you enjoyed the video.
Glad you took the time to make this video, from Canada!
Thank you very much indeed! It's a very old video now, but I am glad that you enjoyed it.
Fantastic in-depth look into the Capri's 50th Birthday. Thanks
No problem at all, this has been surprisingly popular over the last couple of years, and I finally got to drive a 1982 Capri 2.8 Injection four speed on the channel last year. Will be back at Brooklands later this month for more fast Fords...

Loved watching this as I shed 1000 cals on my exercise bike! Thank you, mate :-)

And all those Capris are the reason I still own one, just love `em.

Brilliant
2022, Houston Texas, I want to buy one, no rust and elevate it to a Mustang beater !
Thanks for the video!!!
No problem at all, I hope you really enjoyed it.

The silver 2,3 S with Belgian plates (around 17.00) doe shave correct seats. Those seats replaced the fishnet seats in MY '83. and this one is '83 MY '84. Second owner.
NIce video.
Fantastic, thanks very much indeed! We never got a 2.3S in this country, so it was fascinating to see one in real life. Lovely example too!

Should have a full review of a Capri 2.0 Laser on my channel at some point next year. You do keep your car in wonderful condition!
Right at the end next to the LS with the cortina wheels on you miss the jps which is ultra rare now. 😊

I have a similar connection to his 73 gxl however I was about 4 so it maybe didnt have a much of an impact I still remember it though I have a photo of that with me stood beside it that's the one he broke down in i still remember the exact spot it was lol
Can I just say Thankyou so much for listening to my story there is much more I could probably say but I've wrote enough thankyou. I would just like to say that if I one day have a chance to spend just one full day or weekend with one to show my wife and kids just how amazing the car you always promised yourself makes me feel that would be the only thing I would ever ask for if at any time my days become numbered that would be the perfect end for me
@@Retrofordguy thank you for sharing about the experiences earlier in your life which involved your father and his Capris. I can see why it must be sad for you to see lots of these beautiful old cars in real life. I have also done a full review of a 1982 Ford Granada 2.8 Ghia X Estate on my channel, and the owner bought it because his grandfather had an identical car when he was growing up, and he is now no longer with us. I do hope that at some point you are able to fulfil your dream of taking your children out in a Capri, I am very much looking forward to doing a full review of a beautiful 1987 Capri 2.0 Laser next year. They are truly special cars, and not just because of The Professionals and Minder, although those are tremendous series with iconic Capris in them!
Some stunners there, I had an 84 LS and it didn't come with those wheels
Yes, most certainly! Thank you very much indeed for watching.
Fabulous to see them all. Shame most are not being used. Just show cars.
That's right, a lot are show cars these days, and that must be due to higher and higher values and parts in shorter and shorter supply. I finally drove one of these in October 2020 on the channel, which was a 1982 Mark III 2.8 Injection four speed. It was brilliant!
I had a 1.6s Mk2 . These must be rare because I’ve not seen one yet on UA-cam
I have seen the 2.0 S from Minder, which is also a Mark II, but not a 1.6 S. Thank you very much indeed for watching and commenting!
good to see the goblin works capri here beautiful? i seem to remember some whinger in the capri club having a hissy fit because someone dared to do this to a capri jesus wept???
Thank you for watching! Yes, Capris of all specifications and stages of modification on display that day. I got the chance to drive a 1982 2.8 Injection four speed on the Tweed Jacket Reviews series on the channel last year, and it was absolutely brilliant, the Goblin Works Capri would be something else altogether.
They did have an interesting shape !
Absolutely! Never seen so many together in one place before.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting No worrie's sir , my pleasure.
was wondering ?....Would you have any future dates for Ford fairs in 2020 . Would love to see a Tickford in the flesh again.
Also wondered why there are'nt any owners POV video's on UA-cam about this unique car.
If you know any Tickford owners , can you mention that for me.
Cheers!!!!
@@rogerpayne5336, thank you again for watching! Not sure where there will be Ford Fairs this year, sadly... I should be driving a Capri 2.0 Laser in a few months' time for a full review. Hope to see some more Tickfords in person this year too. Don't know why there are no Point of View videos on them on UA-cam! I also have a walkaround of a Capri 280 Brooklands and a 1.6 Laser on my channel if you are interested.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting No worries fella , I'll look out for that review.
I've seen your 280 review , I like 280 Capri's , all Capri's actually ! But the Tickford is the one , for me.
Dam shame there's no owners reviews. If you can just mention it in Capri circle's , and , who knows , might get lucky.
@@rogerpayne5336, it would an amazing thing to review a Tickford Capri, although it does depend on whether or not someone would be willing to offer me their pride and joy. Thank you for watching the Capri 280 walkaround video, I was amazed at the response to that one!
Tickford is my favourite capri, they did make them in other colours by the way.
Oh, they certainly did! There was a black one there, and I believe a red one, but unfortunately I had finished filming (and my battery) by that time.
One of my regrets was not buying a mk1 1600xl in 1983, think it was going for £300, was persuaded to buy something more sensible, a maxi 1750 for £145.
Those are two very different cars, aren't they? Sounds like the Maxi wasn't too bad after all for less than £150.
All my early cars were sub £300, one of the best was an Avenger, brilliant little car, also had a Princess 1700, comfortable but lousy gearchange.
Wow , I'm sure that bright orange Sport GWC 488T used to cruise the Romford circuit back in the day.......................
Thank you for watching! It is most likely, there were literally hundreds of Capris at the event.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting to get a mint scimitar you'd need about 10k. Nothing on an rs3100 though😂🤣
@@jamesappleyard7459, that's not that bad at all! With Capris ever increasing in value, Reliant Scimitars, some of which have the same engines as Capris, are looking very affordable indeed.
Well I am thinking of going on ebay and autotrader to have a look!🤣
Stay off there, sir! It may not end very well for you...
Heaven.
What a day!
Great video please do more videos on capris
Got one coming up later this week, and another one the week afterwards!
That’s my bronze mk1 at 9.07 ,😊
That's wonderful! I must admit, your bronze 1300 Mk1 was a highlight of the early part of the video. I do hope you enjoyed it!
Great video , was a very good day , loved it 👍
@@Sierra2.0Ghia, thanks very much indeed, it was indeed an absolutely brilliant day, wasn't it?
Was a privilege to be a part of it all , memorable day 👍

Capri and Granada were designed to put V8's in, as Ford South Africa did.
That's absolutely right, I have seen a few V8 conversions in this country of both.
A great era for Ford , were did it all go wrong
Thank you for watching. Gosh, that's a big question... Hard to say, really, isn't it?
42:22 cortina Ghia wheels. Great video, thankyou
Had a white mk 3 capri, wish i still had it.
I finally got to drive a Mark III 2.8 Capri back in October as part of the Tweed Jacket Reviews series on my channel. I absolutely loved it! I see why people still hanker so much after these cars.
Best sports cars if the 70 s
Thank you very much indeed for watching! I have a review of a Capri 2.8 Injection four speed on the Tweed Jacket Reviews playlist on my channel which was recorded about a year after this.
turn back the clock and buy em all at 10 year old prices lol
I know! It's crazy, isn't it?
did you see any john player special version capris there
I would have to look through again (it is a 45 minute video, and I filmed it two and a half years ago), but there were some Mark II Capris there, and at least one of them was a John Player Special (I think), but don't hold me to it....
@@lloydvehicleconsulting hi i watched your episode all the way through didn't see any i just wondered if you saw some but didn't video them, i thought back in the day they looked superb.
Was the 3 litre S Capri always a "3.0 S" or was it ever a "3000 S" ?
There was a Mark I 3000E, but from the Mark II onwards it was the 3.0S.
33:07 Min. Bodie - The Professionals :-)!
Oh yes, it was one of two cars there on the day which exactly resembled the Mark III Capris which Lewis Collins drove in the final four series of The Professionals.
I think I saw a MKII the same or similar as the one driven by Dennis Waterman in Minder.
I don't think that the Minder car was there on that day, but there may have been a similar one there. Thanks ever so much indeed for watching!
my dad had a blue /white consul capri back in the day and it was quick for the time, he sold it for an easy start addicted, beford doormobile....what a mistake....
Ah, yes, people seem to love those, don't they? My grandfather had five Maestros when I was younger, he clearly loved those a lot too!

I wonder how many General Lee airhorns are at this meet?
Oh, I don't remember hearing any, I am afraid! Could be wrong, though... (Were there some in the video, it's been a while since I watched it?)
At 44:35 minutes my car pops up. It was a good day out
Wow, well I am pleased that I got it right at the end.
Loved my old MK2 3.0 (WBF 100S) went like the clappers.......shame it ended its life in a ditch 😥
Those cars must be worth an absolute fortune if they were brand new and unregistered, Yes, the early 1980s were difficult economic times, weren't they?
yes indeed, double digit interest rates on his business premises mortgage finished the business.
@@marshalllucky, I heard that mortgage rates were a bit insane at the time!
