- This Alpine A110 (non S) is in my opinion the perfect sweet spot for a fun daily driver! Rides well, small, comfy, and good on fuel. And everyone loves it!
Massive Thanks to my buddy Arran who I know from PetrolHead Tours for letting me borrow his A110 for a few days. I want one!

Not a potato in sight Rick!! What's going on??
Great review bud, it's an epic little car, and the colour is amazing.
😂 Sorry mate! I'll try and remember them in the next one!
Yeah it's a great fun little car. Like a go kart with a roof, air con and a turbo! Just awesome. 😎
Late to the party Rick but enjoyed this video. I'm due to pick up an A110S later next week (Alpine Blue - I' know the default choice but I love it) and I'm selling my ND MX5 so light weight to, well light weight! Thankfully my son has an NC so I can still experience roof down driving :) Cheers.
Thanks mate. Yeah you'll love it. It's light on it's feet, and the Turbo means it'll be a fair bit quicker than the MX5! Enjoy!
On the default dash setting, a little blue thermometer appears in the red portion of the rev range when the car is cold. There's no need to switch to sport mode.
Oh Ok. When it warms up does it dissappear?
@@RickTheSpud yes, and then it's play time :)
😂
The car looks great in thar colour! I love the stance and how small the gap is between the wheels and the arches. It's not quite a Cayman but I wouldn't say no, that's for sure!
Yeah the only thing missing is 6 Cylinder noise, but then it would be heavier.
Took Captain Andy out and the first time I got on the gas he said, "Woah this is quicker than my Porsche!" Turbo power innit! 👌
ICONIQUE FRENCH CAR........
Amazing little car. Punches well above it's weight! 💪😎
For me that’s a proper drivers car. The right amount of childish is correct. I’d love to drive that over Hardknott pass up our way. 😱
Yeah Pete it's genuinely brilliant. A super fun little light turbo car that rides well and is easy to daily. A great package. 👊
Great video Rick, thank you. I'm looking to buy one this week. Funny you should say that it is like a mini Mclaren because i also have a MP4-12c. Two questions, 1. which Mega Mount phone holder did you use in the car? 2. Would you prefer this over a GR Yaris?
Ah you'll love it mate. Like a daily McLaren that's quite a bit smaller and cheaper to run, and arguably more fun and more sensible speeds!
Link to the phone holder is in the description, the locking carbon one.
And I haven't properly driven a GR Yaris so couldn't say, but they're very different cars. I would imagine the GR is more planted and grippy and this is more playful. Still not a fan of the 3 cylinder noise, and the Alpine is definitely a less common site, especially at a track day, but that's also cos GRs are mega too!
Drove the GT last week and it was a blast...
Ah cool, what's different between this and the GT?
i would not know , the GT is the only one i drove , and it was like driving a cart on steroids, just plain fun,,@@RickTheSpud
Yep, they're so much fun! Great little car. Plenty fast enough. 😉👌
epic
Thanks mate, it sure is! Thanks again for the loan, I love it! 🤗❤️
There’s a full automatic drive mode, a sequential sport mode & I think you missed the sequential track mode holding the steering wheel’s sport button with full valve release.
Oh Ok, yeah didn't know about that! It certainly doesn't say that anywhere, it shouldn't be a secret!
What's track mode do different? And what's full valve release?
Nice bit of short-shifting just before you got to Podium Spud,...... obviously got plenty of torque in mid-range...ace video ❤
Thanks Vic! 👊
Yes mate, tones of turbo torque! Full throttle and short shift is the way to go in this beast! 💪😎
Do you know whats the spacer setup on this car? I have 5mm front and 7mm rear (same wheels), but it could definitely take more. This one looks perfect 👌🏼
I'm not sure mate, I'll have to find out for you...
Hold the line caller...
No spacers, just down to the wheel offset, and the Nitron suspension. All done by Litchfield. Give them a call. Tell them I sent you... 😉👌
Thats crazy. I have the same wheels (silver fuchs) life110 springs, geo and spacers and it doesn’t even come close. I‘ll try to call them these days, thanks!
No worries. Hope you get it looking right! 😎👌
It's a lovely motor. I've always had a thing for Alpine 110s.
I love and hate this motor at the same time. I love the fact that they made them again but the lack of an actual manual gearbox is a bit of a miss. The colour of the car is lovely, it reminds me of my first pricey bmx bike I bought. Same colour with gold anodised parts on it.
I'f it was blue and manual, I'd be all over it. It's too techy to be an Alpine.
Alas they dont sell them in the US.
I have the last of probably the best RWD coupes. I have a 2012 Genesis coupe in Liverpool red with 28k on the clock. It's an 8 speed automatic.
I just mainly stick it in drive. I haven't come to terms to shifting automatics as I can't blip the throttle.
I guess I just change down when breaking but its not feeling right.
Honestly take a tuned one of these for a rip, Litchfield have flashed the gearbox and it's spot on, even does the blips on the down change.
The whole car is fun and a bit silly. Makes you feel great. Big smiles all round. So easy to drive fast. 👊🖕
Does it blip down automatically when you paddle or do you do that?
Not me, car does it! Clever. Plus sounds cool! 😎
18:18 if you want to view the car 👓
Good shout. Looks awesome doesn't it. 😎
@@RickTheSpud Absolutely, this color which is close to cherry red gives the car an incredible charisma.
Indeed, this kind of red is similar to the one used by Aston Martin 🍒
I believe it's a Mazda MX5 red. It's done by Litchfield. 😎
@@RickTheSpud Thank you 😄
what color is this?
Litchfield Red. One of their own colours...
Alpine champion World Rally Porsche zéro 😅
Sorry mate, no proper manual transmission equals no fun.
A sports car needs a manual transmission for driver involvement and driver engagement, otherwise it's just another automatic, boring Toyota Camry.
SaveTheManuals.
I agree in some cars, other cars suit a paddle auto. A GT3 suits a PDK, a 718 Spyder suits a manual! 😉
