EACOP is one of the most climate-changing projects underway. EACOP is the "East African Crude Oil Pipeline": a mega oil project mainly carried by Total Energies (a French company) in Uganda and Tanzania. If it is built, it will be the longest heated oil pipeline in the world: 1443 km long and it will contribute to emit 34 million tons of CO2 per year, which is 6 times the emissions of Uganda.
At a time when IPCC scientists and the International Energy Agency are calling for an immediate halt to all new fossil fuel projects, the EACOP project is not only an aberration that brings the world closer to a climate catastrophe, but also a social bomb that is being denounced around the world. The #StopEACOP movement has already united nearly 265 NGOs opposed to the project.
This project will affect the whole world and raises an essential question: that of climate justice. While many voices are being raised to stop the project, repression against opponents is increasing in both Uganda and Tanzania, both of which are authoritarian regimes.
The fossil fuel multinationals are not unstoppable, we have already succeeded in blocking many financings to the project, but to succeed in our final objective to stop the project the StopEacop campaign needs you! Whether you are in France or in another country, your action can make a difference!

Oil producers do not unfairly profit from oil production or from air pollution. The general population does. The oil producers give over the benefits. Competition among them forces this.
"People in power" [that is lawmakers] allow oil production and oil usage not because they are bought by oil producers, but because the economy level would drop without it, and then those "people" who you refer to would vote them out of the throne.
Partly true, mostly false, the whole concept of carbon footprint was invented by an oil producer (BP) to shift the responsibility from the producers/industrians toward people/end users, which is at best highly debatable... If you want a great vulgarization on that topic, check the video "Can YOU Fix Climate Change?" from Kurzgesagt, it gives an interesting view over the subject.
For the rest, Worakls makes a song about such matters while few months ago he was joyfully animating the first part of one of the meetings of Maacron (writing it that way in case it's auto censured), while the french president is rightfully seen by many as a great friend of such multinationals as oil companies and someone who didn't do much (or anything at all really) to tackle climate change... so yeah Worakls is like many artists, taking juicy check/serving powerful people and then doing some virtue signaling like that song/video....

In 2 months time I need to travel 500 km to go to a concert in Paris. So this morning I was looking for train tickets; Friday in, Saturday out. For Friday there was a ticket available for around €65 at a reasonable time. For Saturday, cheapest ticket at a-not-ridiculous time was €90. Why? It's the same distance, the same train, the same personell, yet 38% more expensive. Supply and demand, I hear you say. Sure, but that doesn't happen to petrol, in fact almost nothing varies 40% in price day by day. But in the end I thought, "Okay, I'll buy, be gentle to the planet", only to be greeted by a message "We are now sold out on Friday, but we have this ticket for €35 more!" ...😳 I declined. Solve these issues first in stead of doing a pretty dance, then I'll abandon oil.
