- Blizzard's Heroes of the Storm cinematic premiered at BlizzCon this year on November 8th, 2013. It garnered huge public reaction when Diablo started appearing in the sandstorm along with Arthas, and Kerrigan to face off against Raynor, Tyreal and Nova. It shook up all of Hall D with the audience cheers.

After all these years and what blizzard had become nowadays, this made me cry. So fucking good! The reaction of the crowd is just... breathtaking...

that sudden dire realisation of how much more bad ass it would have been, if overwatch had been the moba, and heroes of the storm had been the team based action game.

Indeed. Even though HOTS in not very popular among other MOBAs, playing as some of my favorite Blizzard characters is fun. Also some of the mechanics is a nice change of pace after playing LoL.
Hots is great, just kind of dead now, wish they still work on the game...

I remember being in that audience not far from front center.. What an amazing feeling in the crowd, and of course you can only get this "Prime Evil" Diablo effect shown in the trailer by buying the skin.. I felt like if that's the one in the cinematic, it should be the default, not the burtish one from D2

Not gonna lie, was hoping for another warcraft hero to appear and even the sides. Illidan showing up, him being another raid boss and everything, would have been the icing on the cake. Still.. I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. This is a damn good trailer

I'm glad they nerfed Nova's backflip vanish, that was really OP.
Still one of the coolest CGI's Blizz has ever put out and they put out a ton of really fucking cool CGI's, so that says something.

I really wished they had either done one of two things with Diablo.
Either put the Diablo 2 version of Diablo in the cinematic, or put the Diablo 3 version of Diablo into the game.
I prefer 3 version to 2 personally, I hope maybe one day it will be a legendary skin for diablo in game.
I agree. And it is not that Diablo 2 is bad, it is just too old of a model. It either needs some "polishing" or just put the Diablo 3 one in the game since all the other models are new (including all Starccraft ones) so it does not make much sense to use the old Diablo.
This was cleared up by the games art director that they put the Old Diablo as the default model in the game because he was put into HotS long before the reveal of the Diablo III's Diablo. It was either put the Old Diablo for the demos and keep that or not have Diablo at all in the demos because it would have been stupid if a new Diablo would be revealed outside of a Diablo game.
And yes, I know HotS came much later than Diablo 3, but it started it's development WAY before Diablo 3 did.
And almost 4 years later, Diablo's Prime Evil skin has finally been put into Heroes!
Isak Dokmo and the new cinematic has the diablo 2 in it :D

at 1:27 it would have been a lot cooler if arthas slammed his sword in the ground and yell "sindragosa let loose your wrath" and sindy popping behind him doing her frost breath animation charging toward nova

This had a very good chance of going up against Dota and LoL. Especially since it was very unique in its approach to a MOBA.
But never in the timeline that Blizzard expected. And especially not in how little they were investing into it. Even then they wanted to milk every single cent that they could.
This game should have been f2p. All heroes unlocked. And you pay for skins, animations, all the extra stuff that Dota makes a ton of money from. But in reality ? They were making a few skins a year, tons of them were re-colours. They wanted to force Espots on the game, instead of letting it grow on its own.
Like with everything Blizzard nowadays ? It does because of greed. Nothing is allowed time to grow and prosper.

Maybe I dont see the surprise really, yeah we were excited (I was there) but it had been 2-3 years since they announced Blizzard Dota (Blizzard Allstars (then Heroes of the Storm)) so I dont think people were surprised, though yah we were super excited!

Even if the game was good, I don't think people would dive into it that much. People got more MOBA-style games like DotA already and another one is just not necessary. Blizzard picked the wrong path where it doesn't matter whether you fuck up or not cause the path already is bad itself.
