I hunted in Huron January 20-22 this year and it was tuff I’m only 13 and the amount of slues and snow was so annoying we shot 23 birds that weekend but it was rough
I actually wrote a story for Outdoor News on this topic when SD extended its season. I interviewed several wildlife biologists, and they all said that it would only hurt the bird population if you hunted during a blizzard, which would drive the pheasants from cover without a place to land. In fact, they said that having less roosters fighting for food and hens can be good since every rooster can mate with 40+ hens.
Late season pheasants in SD at its finest. If it's easy, it wouldn't be fun.
What a wonderful episode!
