There's going to be a cool DM variant on IST/CGN. I don't think you can go wrong with any of Epting's covers, but there are options. It's definitely one of my favorite comics, one of the few that I double-dipped on (I bought the trade last year when I realized the omni was expensive, then I bought the omnibus this year when I found a deal).
@@milocibelli5391 Agreed. Ed Brubaker is my second favorite comic book writer and his Cap run made me a huge fan of his to where I checked out, Criminal(amazing comic), Sleeper and his Catwoman run with Darywn Cooke. There's a reason why Feige and the MCU did the Winter Soldier movie.
Hey Omar, just wanted to say thank you. About a month before the shut down (late February) my apartment building burned down(no fault of my own or any tenant.) I’ve been collection trades/graphic novels/omnis everything really for my whole life. That day I lost everything. I was so disappointed and just heart broken I couldn’t even think about restarting my collection. I started watching your channel more and more. You brought me back to the game and for that I am in your debt. Thank you.
WOW, Omar you are on fire! This list was a great idea. I wish there was a video out there like this back when I started collecting 2 years ago. This is such a great idea and your video was done so well. I don't know how you would do this but these type of top 10 omni lists for new readers might need to be done annually with what's currently available that time. I believe with all these you picked to talk about, all it would take is for each new person to take the plunge and try one of them they will be hooked. Well done sir.
This is really good Omar! I just began my marvel Omni collection this year too with Astonishing X-Men, both the Miles Morales omnis and thankful for the Uncanny X-Men reprints!!
Just grabbed that Jon Byrne omni. The fomo is strong. Omar you should do a top ten superhero video and recommend a story for each of them. Or maybe top 5 for dc and marvel separately that would be cool
Love Silver Age (that is what I grew up reading) and the Conan Omnibus is one of the best especially with the quality of restoration, bonus material etc and since then got a load of the Conan related books such as the Conan Chronicles, Red Sonja on Dynamite etc. Loving the B&W ones as well
Can't wait for the DC version of this. Great video. Just getting back into comics after about 25 years and Omnis and Collected Editons are a godsend. Cheers.
I count myself lucky to have grown up reading some of these stories like Claremont/Byrne's X-Men, Stern/Romita Jr.'s Amazing Spidey run and Byrne's FF Run. Comics today are good too but it takes so long to get the payoff these days with the long story arcs.
As a new collector, I want to thank you for making this list and I would love one for epic collections as well. I had most of this stuff already but I just added the Runaways omni to my list and I'm really looking forward to the Spider-Man and Captain America reprints. I will have to force myself to pass on Annihilation because I really don't want to go down the rabbit hole of trying to collect all the cosmic saga.
Great list! I really appreciate you making sure these are in print or coming back soon, since that's been one of my biggest frustrations as a new reader. That Captain America omni looks fantastic. My gateway from the movies to comics was the MCU tie-in comics. I picked one up at Barnes and Noble, rented some from the library and then had to get the omni. So naturally, I'd recommend that one to new readers who love the movies. I don't think it's in print any more, but it's also not crazy expensive second hand.
Solid list. I’d probably add the Ultimates Omni because that it totally self-contained, new-reader friendly, and supremely re-readable. Like comfort food haha
Omar, IST and CGN has to love it when you make videos like these because no lie there are times when they'll have omnis instock for months or years but the moment you release a video all the books you show off go out of stock within a couple weeks.
I have to say this is a excellent list . Sound logic all round. Personally I would want Frank Millers Daredevil in there (although can see why you would go with Bendis run) and also possibly Astonishing X-men as it is so accessible to a new reader.
Thank you! Just ordered the Spider-Man by Roger Stern Omni. Those spider-man comics were gifted to me in subscription form way back in the 80's and helped me fall in love with the character.
Would heavily encourage new readers to pick up the Daredevil Omnis by Waid/Samnee as well as Hawkeye by Fraction/Aja. Both are excellent first introductions as well as great stories in and of themselves, with DD by W/S being my first Omni!
@@jamescole-ezen5175 It's currently out of stock and not available in the States, either. It should be restocked in the next couple months, or you could get it secondhand (e.g. ebay).
Great video as always, Omar! I’m currently reading the Miles Morales Omnibus (and getting to know the character for the first time) and it’s awesome. The Spider-Men miniseries had some real heartfelt moments.
I'm a newbie. Love the ominbus and absolute formats. Feed me more suggestions Omar! Can't wait for your DC omni for new readers video as well. Bought some TMNT IDW and Astonishing X-men omni from your suggestions. Thanks brutha!
Hey to the channel and finding it to be an incredible wealth of useful information, thank you so much! Also consistently impressed how many names you manage to retain without falter.
Yeah, that Punisher omnibus by Ennis is a mustread and a musthave. One of the best action books (or how do you call that genre?) that I've read. But Punisher Max by Ennis is even better, and it's also reprinted and available in two omnibuses.
Just ordered the Annihilation omnibus that you reviewed in this amazing video. Showing what the inside of the comic book looks like with the format and the content, it immediately shows what kind of comic book it is to me. The review combined with the page turning of each book makes me feel like I'm at the book store myself. Thank you for your detailed reviews!
Great list Omar! I’m not sure if these are still in print but I would also include Frank Miller’s Daredevil, Walt Simonson’s Thor, and Ultimates by Mark Millar and Brian Hitch as that was a big influence on the Avengers movies.
Great list. Got everything on it except the Cap and Spidey reprints which I will get and the Punisher book. But I would replace Bendis DD with the Frank Miller DD.
I almost went with Miller, but I figure a more modern take might get more readers in there. It takes Miller a little bit to get his story in. But damn when he does.
I love bendis daredevil run, but I definitely recommend to start with the joe quesada marvel knights omni (Kevin Smith’s run) cause that’s the event that motivates matt through most of this excellent run.
I love Smith’s run. More than Bendis’ but even with the big plot point and you know what I mean by that, the reader can still sympathize with Matt and will want to go read the DD by Miller and Smith.
Met Roy Thomas a few years ago. I've never fanboyed so much in my life. Had him sign Avengers Masterworks Vol. 10 grabbed years ago super cheap. (Kree Skrill War). He was oh that's a good one.
I’m not a newbie in any way. But I want Omnibus’ for collecting sake. Fun to have big piles of comic books, even if things like Marvel Unlimited are more practical.
A public service once again rendered to the art of collecting and the joy of comics, characters, authors and artists. Confession : I really need to find away to overlook The Thing’s slang talk it’s been so alienating because all astronauts are brilliant with supreme verbal and analytical powers. Doctor Doom is royalty though .
Thanks a lot for doing this video, this is great info! Ironically, three of the books on your list (Conan, Miles Morales and Byrne FF) are all currently stuck in special order limbo on CGN for me. Anyway, it's good to know I've made the right choices. The one omni I hadn't considered before was the Punisher. Now I'm considering it.
Punisher - still not yet (thought all the great runs were in the max omnis? Could you remind me what critical runs are in each omni?) Runaways - check X-Men v1 - check (no astonishing also? No...onslaught?) Stern Spidey - missed it, will try & grab reprint). FF Byrne & Annihilation - both nope & I doubt I'll be able to get them here as prices are currently way too high. Cap - check (just reread entire run - great stuff) Spidey Bendis - nope (i should get this as I have no modern spidey omni - but after being gutted about jms, I guess I'm focusing on other omnis 1st) DD Bendis - nope (tempted but have OHCs + have they fixed the printing errors with these omnis?) Conan - nope (gonna have to ignore him for now sadly. Too many other omnis to get). Damn, only have 3/4 on the list. Man... Very solid list overall, which has some of the best runs of most of the important marvel titles historically. Wildest pick is Conan for sure. As for other recommendations, possibly astonishing x-men omni & yellow/blue/grey/white by loeb/sale. Also, with new solitications I feel like you're gonna have to do a list annually/biannually.
Ohh man. Conan The Barbarian Omnibus Vol. 1 back in pint? I was going to go the Epic route. Now what to do? Look forward to the reprint of ASM By Roger Stern next year too. I own the Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 & FF by Byrne and both are great. Thanks Omar.
Awesome list Omar! I have 9 out of 10. Conan Omni 1 arrived today so can't wait to crack it open as I waited reading Omni 2+3 as you suggested me a couple of weeks back. Gonna be busy reading! Still missing Stern's Spiderman Omni but will definitely pick it up once it's released.
What a great video to have on deck after the debacle over at DC 🙁 Because of you and the channel I have two of the books you mentioned and look forward to getting Cap, Annihilation and Roger Sterns Spider-Man. Hope the interview you have in Spanish went or goes well!!!!! A mi tambien se me a olvidado mucho del idioma.
I've been collecting for about a year (at least for Marvel omnibuses), there are a lot that I've been meaning to get. Actually the only one on here that I don't plan to buy is the Byrne FF, since I've been reading the Lee/Kirby and the other runs look more interesting than Byrne. Funny enough, I bought the Captain America omnibus right before the reprint was announced. Which Conan comic is your favorite? There seem to be a lot.
I should have asked before: please please please do this exact same video for DC Omnis! I'm a relative DC novice and having some pointers for starter omnis would be invaluable info.
as someone who is trying to get into marvel (previously only collected batman and recently bought the reprint of todd macfarlanes amazing spiderman) i would love an update to this vid!
Aw man, right after I order the Annihilation trades I find out the omni's coming back. Same thing happened with New X-Men, would you believe it! One day I will finally get an omni. Great vid!
@@NearMintCondition sounds good hermano...u probably got other sources but I figured just in case let me shoot the article over. Ya tuvistes la entrevista en espanol??? Como te fue? Va ser algo que nosotros vamos poder ver?
Top 10 Marvel Omnibus for New Readers in my opinion 10.Fantastic Four By Mark Waid Omnibus 9.Captain America By Ed Brubaker Omnibus 8.Daredevil By Brian Micheal Bendis Omnibus Vol.1 7.Avengers By Kurt Busiek Omnibus Vol.1 6.New Avengers By Brian Micheal Bendis Omnibus 5.Runways Omnibus 4.Astonishing X-Men By Joss Whedon & John Cassday Omnibus 3.Marvel Knights Punisher By Garth Ennis Omnibus 2.Amazing Spider-Man By Roger Stern Omnibus 1.Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol.1 I guess we get the same type of taste
Your list has some overlap with my want list. :-) I already ordered X-Men Vol 1 and Spidey by Stern. FF by Byrne is also on my want list. I personally suggest Daredevil by Frank Miller. I will also add Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2. It has the start of Romita Sr's run (my personal favorite Spidey artist) and the first full appearances of Mary Jane and classic villains such as Kingpin, Rhino, and Shocker. Thanks for making these videos! I enjoy watching them.
Hi Omar 👋 thanks for your awesome videos! When I don't read I turn to your channel for bookspiration 😎 I was wondering if you might know if "the outsiders" is still available or will be back for new printing?
Great video, Omar. What a wonderful idea. I'll definitely pickup Runaways because Bryan K Vaughn is my favorite comic book writer(I loved his work on Y- The Last Man, The Oath and Ex-Machina) but I never read his Runaways stuff. As for other beginner Marvel Omnibus I'd recommend, I'd say that the Wolverine Omnibus Vol 1 and Astonishing X-men are great recommendations. The latter is very beginner friendly, acting as a soft-reboot but also following up on Morrison's run. The Wolverine Omnibus is also great for those who love the character and want to see some of the best stories he's been in. I cannot wait to see your DC Omnibus list because I am currently trying to figure that out. Note, Aquaman Johns Omnibus is already a personal favorite of mine. :)
I’ve just gotten into the omnibus game and most of these are out of print, how awesome would it be if you did an updated video for all us new guys out there
Hey NMC I am new into collecting this year and I am looking for some lighthearted comics/Manga to read. I have been quite depressed this year and I am looking for titles that could cheer me up. If you did a top 10 on the lines of this I missed it and would appreciate a link!
Brubakers cap should be evergreen the whole run. It’s really the best cap run in the history of the character in my opinion, and I’m someone who recommends to new readers or fans of the mcu to completely ignore everything marvel comics has released since their bankruptcy generally speaking. This means me placing the run as the best of all time carries a lot of weight. I believe dc comics had possibly their best era in the history of their imprint as far as the consistent quantity of groundbreaking runs pre new 52 and rebirth. Whereas marvel was headed in their right direction until civil war, 2007. Brubakers cap is one of those runs that is worth mentioning when talking best runs of the past 20 years.
All great choices. I expected to see the New Warriors vol 1 omnibus on here. I'd probably go with Punisher Max vol 1 over the MK but either are fine for new readers. I just prefer the Max run, though I love both. The Max run is just a more serious take on the Punisher more in line with the stuff movie viewers are used to with no superheroes in it.
I have bein collecting for a year and a half so I am pretty new so yea great vid I will get one of these books and see if I like it and if so the I wil continue getting them !
I have only recently been getting the X-Men epics and all of this is new stuff to me. I love Claremont and am in for the long haul. What shall I read after clarmonts run. I have read onslaught and A vs X but nothing else really. Secondly you have probably my favourite run on Spider-Man ever in Roger sterns run and i have read a lot since i started collecting 13 years ago. Its brilliant and love the issues afterwards such as the alien symbiote and the wedding. It was a magical era of Spider-Man.
Please do a Top 10 DC omnibus for new readers. Good work. I’ve read the John Byrne FF in floppies only as they were coming out. Should I still get the omnibus?
Wow this was a great list! I have both Miles Omnibus and the Ultimate universe was definitely a better read! I love that book! The second Omni...it’s dragging to me or maybe I’m getting burnt out. I do have Annihilation but in complete collections...just got GoTG by Abnett so I’m excited with that and then just got WW by Azarello...plus have my Snyder Batman Omni to read and a few more Omnis in my back log...I am loving this quarantine haha good vid man
Near Mint Condition no! Thank you Omar! Yours and Gems vids are what got me into collecting Omnis!! And thanks for the reviews cuz I have no regrets in the omnibus that I have purchased! and All this year haha
Near Mint Condition thanks to your Fantastic Four reading order man...I just sold some oversized hardcovers and got Mark Waids omnibus for FF. I’m super stoked man haha again THANK YOU
I tried Clairemonts Xmen and only gave it a few issues before I stopped. Maybe I'll try and get through a bit more before giving up. I have a harder time with older comics generally unfortunately.
Hi Omar, I'm a French mostly Marvel comics reader. I'm considering getting into the hard side of life and your selection is quite interesting. The John Byrne FF Omni is WOW giving me chills ! I grew up with this comics (oh yeah I'm a 40 something guy... too). I should sell my John Byrne visionaries collection... What do you think? I feel like the omnibus is the perfect edition for this masterpiece. By the way, I would really appreciate to have your advice on how to sell TPBs and softcovers... I already got the Uncanny X-Men vol.1 and I'm waiting for volumes 2, 3 and 4 because I will always be an X-Menite ! Keep up the good work Omar !!!!
And that's why YOU ARE THE MAN! My brother went and made sure the books are still in print for the newbies.
El Vaquero vaquero you are too kind. I just want to make sure people can still get these books.

Brubaker’s Cap run is amazing and was my first modern superhero run. It does indeed read like a movie.
Absolutely it does.
Currently reading Uncanny X-Men vol 1 and enjoying every second of it I would recommend to everyone and can't wait for the other volumes. A MUST HAVE!
So glad you are enjoying it, brother.

Astonishing X-men is a must.
Thank you Omar for this great episode 🙏🍀🖖
Thank you for watching.
Yes sir. It just came back for a stealth reprint. I really hope they do the same with Savage Sword.
Very nice!
Thanks, you are a gentleman and a scholar. This was really helpful.
Thank you for watching :)
Thank you, brother. :)
I have to go with Savage Sword. It’s black and white.
My dude, missing out on Byrne FF is missing out on some of the best FF.
@@davidgraham8299 I'll probably read it one day, it's just further down on my list.
I should have asked before: please please please do this exact same video for DC Omnis! I'm a relative DC novice and having some pointers for starter omnis would be invaluable info.
I will be. Next week. :)
You do a great job and I like you and your excellent videos/reviews. You're great. Thanks for all. Cheers.
Thank you for the kind words.
Omar!! Badass reviews. I'm going to pick up that Daredevil because of this. Thanks.
Thank you so much, my brother.
as someone who is trying to get into marvel (previously only collected batman and recently bought the reprint of todd macfarlanes amazing spiderman) i would love an update to this vid!
I would love to, however the problem is that they have to be in print.
@@NearMintCondition that's what I mean, the books in here that interest me are out of print again. :(
Love these videos! such great ideas. Fantastic and so helpful!
Aw man, right after I order the Annihilation trades I find out the omni's coming back. Same thing happened with New X-Men, would you believe it! One day I will finally get an omni. Great vid!
Thank you. Keep an eye on the channel. I’m always announcing reprints.
Just got that marvel knights Garth Ennis punisher omni yesterday for cheap I thought it was out of print. Have you done a Punisher reading order Omar?
I haven't yet.
Thomas Jane will always be my Punisher...🤘🏼💯✔️
Hey O, can you do a top 10 must own/read Deluxe and Absolute books? And I get while u chose Punisher Marvel Knights but Max was sooo good!!
You damn right I will. I got your email BTW about Jim Lee.
@@NearMintCondition sounds good hermano...u probably got other sources but I figured just in case let me shoot the article over. Ya tuvistes la entrevista en espanol??? Como te fue? Va ser algo que nosotros vamos poder ver?
Omar Reyes Jr proximo Jueves hermano.
Top 10 Marvel Omnibus for New Readers in my opinion
10.Fantastic Four By Mark Waid Omnibus
9.Captain America By Ed Brubaker Omnibus
8.Daredevil By Brian Micheal Bendis Omnibus Vol.1
7.Avengers By Kurt Busiek Omnibus Vol.1
6.New Avengers By Brian Micheal Bendis Omnibus
5.Runways Omnibus
4.Astonishing X-Men By Joss Whedon & John Cassday Omnibus
3.Marvel Knights Punisher By Garth Ennis Omnibus
2.Amazing Spider-Man By Roger Stern Omnibus
1.Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol.1
I guess we get the same type of taste
We are just about the same.
Tho i dont like the crossing and batman year 2(tho the art is amazing)
Your list has some overlap with my want list. :-) I already ordered X-Men Vol 1 and Spidey by Stern. FF by Byrne is also on my want list. I personally suggest Daredevil by Frank Miller. I will also add Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2. It has the start of Romita Sr's run (my personal favorite Spidey artist) and the first full appearances of Mary Jane and classic villains such as Kingpin, Rhino, and Shocker. Thanks for making these videos! I enjoy watching them.
Thank you so much. And I made sure that the list of books when I made the video was still in print.
Omar - ORNR for Brubakers Cap. That book revitalized my interest in Captain America and it's full of twists and turns that are wonderful.
I may suggest it when the omnibus is back in print
@@NearMintCondition Excellent!
Hi Omar 👋 thanks for your awesome videos! When I don't read I turn to your channel for bookspiration 😎 I was wondering if you might know if "the outsiders" is still available or will be back for new printing?
I think Omar has been lying and he's actually the biggest Bendis fan ever
Maybe? ;)
I been saying this for a while now
Great video, Omar.
Thank you so much for watching and the kind words. :)
Excellent video as always.
Thank you so much.
I’ve just gotten into the omnibus game and most of these are out of print, how awesome would it be if you did an updated video for all us new guys out there
Time to do an updated video for marvel and DC! Thank you!
@@NearMintCondition No thank you
Hey NMC I am new into collecting this year and I am looking for some lighthearted comics/Manga to read. I have been quite depressed this year and I am looking for titles that could cheer me up. If you did a top 10 on the lines of this I missed it and would appreciate a link!
I will be happy to work on this.
100 percent it should be
All great choices.
It was a tough choice between MK or Max, but I had to go with MK because of that wonderful first arc.
Wish that Daredevil Bendis omnibus pair was still in print!
I have bein collecting for a year and a half so I am pretty new so yea great vid I will get one of these books and see if I like it and if so the I wil continue getting them !
I hope it helps and keep me updated on your journey.
I will say Astonishing X-men for sure.
I went FOMO mode and went and bought half of the omnis on the list YIKES! Thank you Omar I guess 😂
You are welcome, I guess.
Please do a Top 10 DC omnibus for new readers. Good work.
I’ve read the John Byrne FF in floppies only as they were coming out. Should I still get the omnibus?
I sure am working on that next week.
Thank you. Got rid of my comics years ago so prefer buying this way now
Being new to the omni game I've been eyeing that berserk. Is that a lot bigger than the softcover manga? The deluxe hc that is.
Yep def bigger and an awesome investment . Omar has done breakdowns if you want to see the size difference between the soft and hardcovers.
Thanks man!🤘
really well edited!
Thank you, my brother.
I just got into collecting these (started with uncanny x-men) I just keep checking cheap graphic novels.com. Amazon, and eBay for the best prices.
There is also Instocktrades and your local comic shop.
Just got my first omni recently! Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1 :D almost done with it and loving it so far
Nice! So glad to hear it.
Thank goodness Annihilation is coming back. Missed the first go around.
It's coming back.
First Omni I got was Walt Simonson’s Thor. I’m going to try to get all the Amazing Spider-Man Omnis next
I didn't know that u have the runways I do to and I watched the entire show. I also have basically watched all the marvel and dc shows so
8:23 I am waiting for it Omar.
For the reprint? Or to enjoy it.
@@NearMintCondition No to just hear your thoughts on the comic.
Wow this was a great list! I have both Miles Omnibus and the Ultimate universe was definitely a better read! I love that book! The second Omni...it’s dragging to me or maybe I’m getting burnt out. I do have Annihilation but in complete collections...just got GoTG by Abnett so I’m excited with that and then just got WW by Azarello...plus have my Snyder Batman Omni to read and a few more Omnis in my back log...I am loving this quarantine haha good vid man
Thank you for the kind words and enjoy your books you get to read :)
Near Mint Condition no! Thank you Omar! Yours and Gems vids are what got me into collecting Omnis!! And thanks for the reviews cuz I have no regrets in the omnibus that I have purchased! and All this year haha
Michael Gomez my man!
Try some modern runs.
@@NearMintCondition read House of X / Powers of X yesterday and loved it
Omar, my man!!!! Have you thought about doing a favorite dynamite comics list?
I have. I need to get back to the lists soon. First though. Top 20 manga. The Batman reading order has drained me.
Omar, man, respect from Moscow. Thx.
Much love back from Amerrica!
40s comic fans unite!!! I love Byrne’s art and I sold my visionaries when I saw the omnibus was coming out.
@@NearMintCondition As we say in French... Les grands esprits se rencontrent (great minds think alike). Thanks for your answer!
