- I took my family, which includes my 18 year old dog on a fishing holiday this year. He's the oldest dog I've ever had and making memories with my best friend was a priority. The venue of choice was Millhayes Lodges and Lakes. What a special place this turned out to be, just incredible. The fishing, the lodge, the nature, the location, it had everything I needed to enjoy some much needed downtime from the rat race of life. We can't wait to go back and my little old companion loved it as much as we did. Hope you enjoy an insight into our family, fishing holiday. If you fancy this sort of thing then we can't recommend Millhayes enough. Enjoy.

They're family mate aren't they, not sure how many years he's got left in the tank mate. Until that point mate he's by my side, the only other person he'll stay with if my son if and when I'm fishing. :)

That video brought back many happy memories as I lived in nearby Tiverton and fished Millhayes quite a bit when it first opened in the 1990's, long before the lodges were built. At that time it was stocked with lots of single figure carp that fought like mad, with the occasional scraper double. Multiple catches were the norm - I was just getting into carping then and enjoyed many days there catching up to 20 fish from about 4ln upwards, often fishing right in the margins.
Lovely to see how it has developed into a specimen lake and matured so well.

Another great video. My late wife and I would only ever holiday in this country so we could take the dogs we had over the years and I could take my carp gear, never came across this venue unfortunately,, it looks great. Glad you enjoyed mate, it was a great week. The old licking of the clips are not needed I've found mate on the ESP clips, the rubber sleeves are so much softer than most others that they eject perfectly when needed and only when needed. :) also after using the same clip for months the sleeves also get looser and looser, thats why I like the ESP clips also.

As a dog trainer and consultant you nearly had me in tears regarding your best friend / dog. In the last two years we have gone from having two GSD to zero, having lost them both to old age. Karma to you good man.

cracking lake did a week there in april, tosh weather but had a skinful of beers in the local and caught some lovely ones to 40, mainly fished the dam end but in the end bushwackered one rod behind the island closest swim to the float lake and had the vast majority of fish from there seems most ignore it as i did myself for the first few days as v shallow. but there always up for a feed down there and even all throughout the day! cracking spot tho absolute dreamy !

It was indeed mate, such a great place.
At age coming up 66 and sharing my life with dogs since a child I totally get where you're coming from.
Over the years I've turned down tickets due to no dogs policy.
Dogs are family mate aren't they, he struggles when I'm not around mate now. I guess its like looking after an elderly family member. I'll never let him down, he's given me so much joy over the years so I owe it to him to make sure he's a happy as can ever be. :)

Yes Adam it was wonderful, it has everything, including loads of crucians which I loved. He's a jack Russell believe it or not, he's built of the good stuff it seems. The price varies mate based on the time you wish to go but drop them a line and they'll certainly let you know. Totally Dog friendly too :)

Hi Jake, varies mate based on the time of the year, when you break it up between 6 is miles cheaper than a package french commercial holiday, that I do know mate. Drop them a line and Tom or Jez will let you know the cost based on dates available. cheers
Mike with you slip D, you mentioned it being around 9 inches but do you ever lengthen this for fishing in silt. Any guidelines for this or do you just use a lighter lead or something?
