Homie don't get disheartened by the views, keep up the good stuff. People normally dont talk about basics and plenty amateurs look for that. Keep it up don't let it make you feel down
Just your suggestion of locking the wrist and using your elbow instead improved my line drawing instantly. Such a simple thing but I didn't realize it was the shakiness of my wrist movement causing my lines to curve. Thank you!
Holy shit. Thank you so much. The “look where the line is going not where youre drawing” tip is game changing. I was literally never taught to properly draw straight lines, i was just sat down and told to practice everyday in my classes, and not told the technique for how to practice RIGHT. So we moved on and i learned perspective, value, composition, form, etc. But was missing one fundamental. Which meant that my drawings that used curved lines like the human figure was good, but all of my geometric objects like buildings and cars were crooked or on a slant. THANK YOU
I'm an amateur drawer so this video really helps and it reassure me that I'm doing the right thing. Sidenote: I'm actually pretty decent at shading which I find odd, but when it comes to drawing straight lines i struggle. It's a bit odd.
6:36 - [not as fast as you can] - lol, details that are important when teaching on a platform of 2.3 billion. - Thanks for the quick advice. Was immediately helpful.
Sir, you just helped me deal with a problem I've been dealing with for months now, which shouldn't have been the case lol. But, as soon as I applied your method, I saw instant improvement in my ability to draw straighter. Honestly, your video feels like a godsend. Should anybody I know be facing the same struggle as I and so many others did, I know just the video to recommend to them!
this is GREAT advice and i do something similar, however i do something slightly different that i think creates a better result. the better way to develop this precision is to stop ghosting---meaning, stop moving your arm without making the mark. every ghosted movement you make is a line your muscles actually practiced drawing, but WITHOUT feedback on accuracy or quality because the mark was drawn in the air. instead of practicing four movements in the air after you put down a pair of dots, put down four pairs of dots and make four actual lines---no ghosting. each one will give you visual feedback and you're moving the same amount. per unit time of practice, you'll be making several times more lines, getting several times more visual feedback, and thus more accuracy.
Been drawing for years, it's little things like this video that gives improvement. You can watch a tutorial on how to draw anything but without the basics it may as well be pointless.
I can vouch for what he says here. I'm a guy who made photo realistic art, but the sketching? Hooo Boy that took long. And a bad sketch can show, even slightly through an excellent piece.
I'm five minutes in and it is already very much helping like I am shocked at how much. Great video and thank you so much. I might have to start watching you daily!
Thank you! I’ve been trying to make straight lines with my wrist loose and using my thumb stiff and that was definitely not working. I thought my thumb or hand was weak and I had to strengthen them. I’m lucky to have come across your channel!
Great Video, thanks for the tips. I'm trying to get into sketching and it fails on basic stuff like straight lines and this tutorial helped me out massively.
Thank you. I have had a career shift into the design world and I have a background in mental health. They don't teach us about lines in psych 101! Very helpful! :P
Could u make a video dedicated to shading and how to shade with different pens for example, ballpoint, markers, inkpen and so on. Very nice video btw👍👍👌
You'd end up hurting your wrist if you don't rotate the page a bit for straight lines. I experienced that but maybe you could experiment and try on your own. ^^
@BEMBLI When sketching drawing long straight lines. Do you focus your eye on the pencil tip? Can you tell me where to focus my eyes when drawing the line? Thanks
Sir i am practicing lines slowly Can i shall be succesful?? i am practicing slowly from almost 5 days...😟Am i wrong Am i never be succes ful😣and i am also draw small lines because i think i have to go from low to high
If your day is free, do it for a whole 24 hours with breaks. If your day is a little busy, do it when you can. Basically, do it for as long as the hours you have free. Even if it's for a few minutes, practice.

Yass look at it now!
how many did he have back then?

Thank u for listening to me and making this video❤️. U are the best! Keep up the good work!
Hope it helps out! 👍
This is extremely useful. 12 and a half minutes out of my day improved my straight line skills immediately.

Thank you. This immediately helped with using the wrist less
developing this type of muscle memory will make your drawings more clear for the people

wow it really helped me to draw shapes!💓

Best exercise :
Break your ruler in mechanical engineering class or geometry class

Thank you, for this very valuable instruction. I like that you are starting from the beginning too!
Ive been doing this for the past few days and it really helps! Thank you for the tutorial.
my man, as a 3d artist that's trying to learn to draw and cannot draw a straight line to save my life, youtube never fails
Could u make a video dedicated to shading and how to shade with different pens for example, ballpoint, markers, inkpen and so on.
Very nice video btw👍👍👌
Yes, we're jumping into that soon!
Thank you! Your awesome 🤘👍
You are the best!
Thank you so much for the advice, doing these exercises now and I can already see the difference
thank you art keemstar
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Mantap mas, salam dari UNS
Another great video! It’s the simple, boring things that really matter with sketching, right?
Zoruwhite - Auxy Music yes gotta get the fundamentals right 👌
I was just going to practice straight lines today .. and boom u uploaded the video 😍😍😍😮........ ... U r just amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👌.....
Glad you enjoy the videos ✌🏽
Thank you 😊
Thank you!
Great
How much time does it take get such clean lines of we practice an hour or two daily?
Sir I have a question... Should I use pen for product sketching or pencil and which grade should I use for that?
That’s totally up to you. Whatever you prefer. I use pens!
Do you have any video about how to draw straight lines in a artwork without rotating the page? It would be helpful for me and others.
You'd end up hurting your wrist if you don't rotate the page a bit for straight lines. I experienced that but maybe you could experiment and try on your own. ^^
Nice. I recently recorded a video on the lines for an hour) I could not fit everything in 8 minutes. You are really cool :)
By the way, I'm not at all against curved lines if they are in the right directions. I told a lot about this. You can read it with subtitles.
I did this since i was a kid , but my art teachers from like 3rd grsde to college said its wrong and i need to do it slow , for every situación lmao
Me: okay, here we go.
"Straight line!!!" [swipe]
No.
"Straight!!!!" [swipe]
Ughh. Okay.
"Straight down!" [swipe] xD
Hello , sory for my bad english i am from belgiump. What kind of pencil do you use ? :) thanks for all your vidéos!
He uses a bic roundstic he said in the start of the video it's basically just a good brand of standard ball point pen
Yep just a simple BiC Round Stic M. Any pen will do! I just like the outside texture and size of it :)
10b pencils
@BEMBLI
When sketching drawing long straight lines. Do you focus your eye on the pencil tip? Can you tell me where to focus my eyes when drawing the line?
Thanks
What helped me is focusing on the endpoint of the line, it makes my endpoint more accurate
Sir i am practicing lines slowly
Can i shall be succesful?? i am practicing slowly from almost 5 days...😟Am i wrong Am i never be succes ful😣and i am also draw small lines because i think i have to go from low to high
yes you can be successful!
it is okay to fail and not get it at first, practice and practice, and you will get there.
How can I share my sketches with you
Niket Jha his socials are in the description of the video, you could send him your sketches there
how many hours per day should i practice drawing lines everyday? I'm purely starting from the beginning
If your day is free, do it for a whole 24 hours with breaks. If your day is a little busy, do it when you can. Basically, do it for as long as the hours you have free. Even if it's for a few minutes, practice.
ok but if anyone at the academy sees you rotating the paper, you'll end up lynched
I cant draw a straight line without it being bent 🤣
Me too
Lol
If u still seek answer why, then it might be beacouse u draw with fingers or wrist. Try learn to draw by elbow and shoulder it might help.
Could you do a video covering the basics of shading with markers etc. at some point?
Marcel Schweikart yes coming in the future ✌🏽
every day for a year is a long time......
Oh yeah
What is that on the mic? Lol
Home made wind guard
It seems like ballpoint pens are better suited to this than fineliners.
Fr
I’m this down bad
U rotating the paper to get the cube ,made me quit the video early😢
i just watched a 12 minute video on how to draw a line...
and learned nothing :neutral_face::coffee:
Stop rotate the paper !!!
