Thank you! I'm trying to decide on what tires to buy myself at the moment, and your experience with them over the last couple years have dissuaded me from choosing them despite their general benefits.
A few years ago I bought a set of 'General Tire Altimax Arctic 12' winter tires. They were pretty good winter tires but not as good as some of the best ones out there, so I just left them on in the spring, hoping they would wear out as the hot summer months rolled along. They didn't wear out, they kept performing great in the summer as well as the following winter. So if you want good all-weather tires, try some Alimax Arctic 12 winter tires and see if they last all summer long.
I ran those year round and they were great tires for the money. I have also had these Nokians and they also work good if you don't want to constantly change out tires.
Thanks for the review tou. These looked promising in your initial review, but I think I'll just run dedicated sets on my gr corolla. Driving in snow storms at 3am has been scary on all seasons in a different car.
I purchased mine brand new from Discount Tire and also purchased their protection plan back in September’21. Got about 12K miles of them so far and don’t see any cracking yet 🤞🏾. Minnesota winter is around the corner, so far these tires have been great this past year.
These Nokian retail for $96 versus Michelin cross climate is $140+ online, which is reasonable cost for a Nokian tire with excellent winter grip for a supposed "All Season Tire" I think every manufacturer is still trying to find and create a tread and compound combination offers best handling for all seasons, so in meantime there will be some comprises
Have you ran the Firestone or Michelin yet? I really wonder how they perform compared to these. I know the Michelin will most likely not have the problems I'm having now with the nokian cracking.
Tread wear actually looks pretty good for 20,000 miles on an all-weather tire. Did you check with the dealer on the cracking and if so did they offer a pro-rated replacement?
If you bought these in August of 2020, you should not have accepted tires in excess of 6 months past the build date. You should ask the tire shop to confirm prior to mounting.
I'm currently running a set of Kumho 4s ha32 all weather. Mines got all weather cracking too. I got a new 2018 set at a good discount. I hope they hold up better here in canada
My 4 years old powerproof with maximum 8 10k kms are cracking. They look damgerously bad. I used them from 2021 so after 3 years they are cracking. Looking back to pics even after 1 year thwre were slight cracks. Nokian never again.
Running these on Outback and Tesla S -- The Tesla has two sets, one set sidelined due to sidewall split (defect-- no impact/wheel damage) and current set is half-worn and outright dangerous on wet roads and require very timid throttle. The Outback has one set, faring better due to AWD and lighter chassis, but I'm extremely disappointed with these tires overall and will be trying the Michelin CC2s for both cars next. Will probably do my own video soon, showing defects and impressions. Longtime Nokian fan, but they lost the plot somewhere with these.
A lot of people run the Michelin cross climate here because believe it or not, Oklahoma does get snow and it doesn't get plowed so it can get slick. I'm not sure if the cross climate has issues as well, but I would expect these to be comparable in terms of reliability and performance.
I had WRG2's on one of my previous vehicles, while they didn't look that bad after 3-4 years, they were by that point useless in the wet or even slightly icey roads. Had maybe 25k miles on them. I'm giving these WRG4s a shot, only because I couldn't get Cross Climates, which IMO, are a much, much better tire. Put twice as many miles on the latter on my last car, and they were still great on ice and snow, and didn't get mushy and extend braking in the summer like the WRG2s did. Got to get what you can get though (was told more than 3 months wait for the Cross Climate).
Nice. I'm in the process of trying to get these warrantied. But you're right, these tires are starting to peel out with light throttle in the rain with the slow Corolla.
@@touyang9479 Yeah, had the G2s on my 2004 Corolla, so I get what you mean exactly. Had the Cross Climates on a Camry, it was great match. Hope the warranty will replace them for you.
I’m a huge fan of the Nokians: I live in Northern Michigan and they have been game changers. But I will check out the cross climates. Reviews say they are better in deep snow. Thank you for the tip!
Mine was covered partially based on how much tread was left. I don't care how much they say this is just cosmetic. Would you take the risk on you and your family's safety?
The question I have is did you use any tire wet or anything bc the sun will cause cracking that’s probably why one side is worse then the other the driver side probably get the most sun
@@touyang9479 I know what your saying. However the reason they work in winter is because they stay soft when it’s below 40°. Which means they’re even softer at 80°. Considering tires heat up with friction means they’re getting substantially hotter than that. I will probably get these and take them off when the average temp is above 50° I currently have Kenda all seasons on my Subaru with 40,000 miles on them and they look in great shape because they handle heat better.. but boy do they suck in the snow lol. They wouldn’t sell a lot of these Kenda’s in Maine.. just like they wouldn’t sell a lot of the WRG4’s in Florida
@@PennsylvaniaDualSport any reason why you would get these rather than a fully dedicated snow tire? One of the advertised benefit of all weather is to not have to swap. If I had to swap, I would just stick to fully summer and fully winter set.
@@touyang9479 due to the bias of cold weather driving. They perform better then all seasons for sure but don’t wear as quickly as a full winter tire. So I should be able to get a few winters out of them instead of one or two. Keep in mind I say this and could end up being too lazy to change them come spring. I drive 25-30 a year. I imagine that amount of mileage would kill these tires fairly quickly
My tires are the same. They are all balding with only 32k miles usage with regular rotation every oil change. Went to tire shop I bought it and they will give me $200 credit towards new tires. Owner suggest I buy same set if I liked or Toyo Celsius Sports which are suppose to be same tread and drive but better quality. I own suv with Nokian which are great , but these Nokian WRG4 are trash.
Seems like you're morr concerened withe the appearance rather than the performance. How do they feel since putting them on? Are they wearing evenly? This was a poor update.
just see my tires, it's a shame I can't show them to you. My tires are falling apart. They are two years old, winter WD tyers. I will never buy them again nor would I recommend them. Terrible brand, terrible company, I emailed them and sent them pictures and they didn't get back to me.

Were you using the All-weather with the snow rating? Or All-season in general?
General altimax 365 is an all weather tire .good for all 4 seasons
Many thanks for that review. About to install new tires and I’ll be checking the build date.

They were rotated so I'm not sure if being worse on a certain side mattered. But no chemicals were used besides the occasional tire shine.
I would not keep those on during summer months. All weather is different than all season. That cracking is due to heat
