The guy who played the clown had to be a pretty good pilot to fly that poorly and not get killed or injured. Also have to laugh at his not doing a pre-flight of his aircraft, and yelling "clear" after he's already started the engine. This brings back memories. So many memories. I loved seeing the ground rolling by beneath me, even in taxiing drills. Watching it drop away beneath me when I finally got to take it off the ground a few feet was one of the biggest thrills of my life. Gosh I wish I could still fly that bird.
I built and flew one identical to the one in this video for several years. I'm currently restoring a 1984 Pterodactyl Ascender II+, hoping to have it flying by next spring.
Could I really learn to do this by myself with no prior experience? Just this kit and this training video and the balls to give it a shot? I’m a little boozy right now, but I do believe I have those balls.
They say that pilots start out with an empty experience bucket and a bucket full of luck. The trick is to fill the experience bucket before your luck bucket is emptied. I suggest not to risk, get instructor, fly dual , there are dual seat ultralights/gliders/ aeroplanes, then go solo..good luck!
importantly, this 12 min "training" video is actually a marketing video. the video isn't showing the full picture as each of the lessons have about an hour of ground theory plus about an hour in the aircraft. also, you will have your own questions which can't be answered by the video.

I just purchased a Ptraveler that was left in a barn for 35 years, I'd love to chat with you about how your restore is going.
I got to know Jack Mc Cornack at Oshkosh. From 1980 on, he was a real character. Never a dull moment when he was around. N.E.OH Bob
I used this same methodology when i was transitioning from a quicksilver to a Lazair ultralight many years ago.
