Ive owned a 2014 gti. Vw are very solid well built cars. The 2.0 turbo is one of the best engines ever. Mine never burned a drop of oil very smooth and quiet. Its detuned on the Tiguan mine had 225hp and 258 torque very snappy! Its easy to do a cpu flash tune for 700 bucks and get 250hp 280lbs of torque no problem. Its a very robust motor. Its great in gas as well. On long highway trips I got 38 mpg regularly. Around town the turbo isnt as efficient. Probably 27 28 mpg but still pretty darn good.
@@RaitisRides Any idea when we will finally get the redesigned Tiguan? This one is getting a little long in the tooth and Europe already has their new Tig. Should be a big step up from this one.

I bought a 2024 Tiguan SEL RLine 4Motion a couple months back. I love it. Smooth drive, and while the 0-60 isn’t the best, the power still feels more than adequate. Best part - by far - is the sporty steering wheel. Better than my wife’s BMW “M” style steering wheel. Also I think this particular model looks MUCH better in white than grey.
These manufacturers need to hire you for design. I agree with a lot of your zonks, As always, this is the best place to come for reviews on cars. Ques, any idea when the 2025 Tiguan is coming out?
Best in it's class, blows everyone one else out of the water... Never do I see anyone towing with small SUV's so no big deal, also the wood matches the gray it looks nice
Not gonna find connect services or vent seats or a pano sunroof in the CR-V. And the handles in the trunk to lay the seats flat is nice to have that Honda doesn’t offer.
I just got a 24 SE Rline black a few weeks ago, so far It's better off the line than the 2019-2022 tiguans, I think VW remapped the ecu. The weirdest thing with the lack of the heads up display is that the atlas has one. I do wish that it had paddle shifters cause that steering wheel design is begging for it.
I had the SE-Rline 2020. Very spacious and comfort, but the power is missing. It struggled on the highways if I was above 60-70 miles. It feels okay when you start but looses power slowly.
Help!!! Love this car. Looking at top trim SEL- R but kinda caught up with the Q3 Progressive too. I’m leaning towards the Tiguan cuz of size, space and full specs compared to Q3 which is more expensive but has the bigger engine. Would love some community feedback.
I wish they would bring back the 200 h.p. engine. Rumor has it that they will in 2026 along with other smaller engine choices. This would be the perfect vehicle at it's price point if they did. Volkswagen does pay attention to more detail in their designs than the Japanese. Good enthusiastic review. You covered all the most important points.
btw you are hands down the best car reviewer I’ve seen on YT! definitely will help me on my next car! thank you! and don’t forget to please do the VW TAOS also
This will echo a number of comments already made below, but 184 hp is very weak for a turbocharged 2.0 liter engine nowadays (maybe if we went back to the 1990s, it'd be just great). I had a Ford Escape with a 2.0 turbo -- 240 hp (245 with premium). Also a Jeep Cherokee with a 2.0 turbo -- 270 hp! VW has really detuned its engine.
got the 2024 R SE version white with black mirrors and wheels for 34k taxes included, not bad, BMW wanted a 2021 X3 15k miles for $34,500 with an open recall , just no in my opinion
My nephew just bought one of these yesterday. He's been a VW fan ever since he bought a Jetta diesel and they perpetrated Dieselgate. That was awhile ago. Forgive and forget, I guess.
You'd think after all these years with this generation Tiguan, that VW could've tweaked the 2.0T more so it could at least match the output of the GLI. This model desperately needs that all-new look/tech/power coming soon!
@@Lex-Rex I care. And as someone who has had many VWs with a better engine, knowing this engine exists in their lineup, well, it sucks. And because of this, myself and many other VW enthusiasts will never buy this vehicle.
@@Biggeo7 I own one I keep it for 3 years and buy a new one. I don't care about the warranty. Furthermore, the car is plenty fast and I have no issue merging and getting up to speed. If I want performance and speed, I will drive my Golf R or take my Aprilia 1100 Tuono factory out for a rip. I am a motorcycle and car enthusiast and the Tiguan is a great small SUV.
The wheel trim is black because the R Line is suppose to be the sport model. I have the R Line Black and there’s no chrome anywhere except the grill. You knew this. You just needed to be offended by something.
VW Tiguan doesnt offer 4WD hybrid version this year. I bought CRV for that reason. Sales guy in Europe told that probably next year VW will bring 4WD hybrid. Petrol car is just not good anymore in 2024 or later. Also i wasnt impressed by the quality in inside with Tiguan when i test drive car. A lot fancy lights and in yout face driver dash but thats about it.
Sold plenty of both. sadly, since Dieselgate, VW just seems that it cant get its act together. Meanwhile, quality on many models is worse than any time l can remember. l've owned several GTI's until 2012. No more.
It would seem they could get a little more horsepower out of their 2 liter turbo engine. It seems like a good vehicle with a lot of upscale touches. At 41k there are a lot of good cars to choose from. Joe, that was a good quick overall review.
I had a 22 SE R-Line black. Do love the space for sure. Efficiency is another one. Probably should’ve went with a tune to amp up the hp. But had to get a bigger car, so got a 24 Atlas instead
The fake exhaust on high trims of Tiguan and Atlas was one major reason I didn't get a high trim. This is benchmark ridiculous fake. Other manufacturers also have fake exhausts but theirs is at least housing the actual pipe of the exhaust. This one is just a fake decoration on the bumper.
I have a '22 that looks exactly like this '24. It's super quiet, even with the 20" wheels. I was blown away (still am) at how insulated it is. Give one a test drive.

Better car, better customer service at the dealership as compared to Toyota's. I drove this car 2 times 16 hours straight, no back pain body pain feels like just took a spin around the city. Even at 120 miles the car begs for more power. It sticks like a magnet on the road and feels extremely safe. Anyways thanks for sharing the video, your content is the best and excellent.
My 2010 Ford Escape has a V6. I put a 2" hitch on it that can accomodate a bike rack, 3 bikes. It makes 225hp. It's only FWD but that okay. Less maintenance. 184hp in this Tiguan seems underpowered.
It looks nice, but can't stand that gloss black on the steering wheel. Also I know a lot of people complain about the heated steering wheel placement button, people have said they've accidentally pushed it without knowing it.
Agreed! I noticed that right away. The gloss black is too shiny and will show finger prints. My 2017 Tiguan has flat black on the steering wheel and the buttons look much better and no shiny glare. And it has 200 HP. Stupid that the new model which is bigger and heavier only has 184 HP. They need to change that
