Thanks for bringing such beauty into my life during these trying times Emil! It has reminded me of what blessings GOD has given us if we just sit and enjoy
Thanks Scott! Glad you enjoyed it. I really love the way time-lapse can show off a landscape...and highlight time and place.
Such unbelievable beauty captured masterfully by an expert!
Thanks Elmar!

Absolutely stunning! Out of this world photography and beautiful singing! Well done!
Thanks Heidi
Just got back from this place and can say it's one of the most beautiful areas I've ever seen.
Agreed. The Berg is phenomenal!
Who needs CGI when you can have the real thing?
Actual goosebumps... because I know this is the real thing.
It's been 35 years since I was there, but "The Bell" at Cathedral Peak is unmistakeable. I suspect some glimpses of the Amphitheatre might have crept in, too.
Superb time lapse photography makes this so much better than still-frame photos.
The fluid dynamics of the clouds appeals to my geek nature, while the beauty of it all transcends language.
Thank you for composing (compositing?) this. I wish it would go viral...
Thanks Alex.
Your comment means a lot to me! I'm hoping to do another one at some stage, but right now paying the bills via my commercial work seems to be taking precedence.
I look forward to it. The time-lapse brings the place to life so much better than still frame, or even normal video.
I visited Cathedral Peak (and Champagne Castle) as a teenager with parents, but went to the Amphitheatre on my own in early 20's, and managed a day hike up on top, as well as a hike up the river valley from below. That was in 1992. And it's a very, very special memory for me. Now brought to life with your work. I have found other UA-cam clips that stir the memories, but none capture the ethereal beauty of the place quite like your clouds and sunrise shots, and the high-res detail. Beyond breathtaking.
Many re-watchings now make it clear that there's "a lot" of amphitheatre there after all. It took me a while to recognise it from the valley below. It was the close up of the Sentinel that made me realise you had shot from down below, too.
Also, I can glimpse at least three, possibly seven or eight "shooting stars" in the starry sequences. I doubt those are planes. Are they satellites? Or did you really catch that many meteorites in your pics?
PS it's the first time in 25 years I've seen the Southern Cross and Two Pointers. More awesome memories, since I'm now in the Northern Hemisphere.
Hi Emil, wonderful timelapses and perfect fiting music. Are you running workshops in this area?
Hi Karl. Yes I am. You can see all the workshops I run on the natureslight webpage www.natureslight.co.za
Great piece of work, great choir, great mountains. AMDG
Thanks Peter
Music in the background just reminded me of my primary school days.
Hopefully in a good way :)
A totally awesome time-lapse composition Emil. Well done.
Thanks Gary.
1:39 Can you really see stars like that with the naked eye or is it telescope enhanced?
The camera can see into the shadows a lot more effectively than our eyes can. There was no 'telephoto enhancement' but I did brighten shadows and darks in post production. That said, on a good night in the mountains the stars are really bright and vivid even to the naked eye. Oh, and the individual frames are between 15-30 seconds long, meaning there is a lot more time to capture the light than our eyes allow.
