- Plenty of celebrities for their start playing small roles on "Seinfeld." For this list, we’ll be looking at actors who made guest spots on the famed sitcom Seinfeld before they had their big break. This means we won’t be including celebrities who were already known from other TV and film appearances. As much as we loved seeing Courteney Cox as Jerry’s girlfriend Meryl, she was already established as Lauren Miller on “Family Ties.” Our countdown includes Jon Favreau as Eric the Clown, Debra Messing as Beth Lukner, Bob Odenkirk as Ben, Sarah Silverman as Emily, and more! I think that in the episode called The Old Man, the record store owner is played by Tobin Bell
James Spader as Jason Hankey should be here. The neck hole situation was classic, not to mention his final line of the episode: "I wouldn't trust him with a v-neck" is one of the best lines from the show!
They were highlighting people who weren't famous yet. Spader was extremely well known when he guest starred.
Mannequin. Pretty in Pink. White Palace. Bad Influence. Stargate. All before his season 9 guest appearance.

Yeah when The Shield came out I thought him as the guy from The Commish….I still do really. Maybe that show wasn’t as well known as I thought
@@michaelblaine6494 92 episodes of The Commish says that it must have done ok for the company to carry on making them. However, I must admit to not watching a single episode of it. I watched 'The Shield' religiously.
It's amazing to me how Scott Patterson is not on this list... The man appeared at the 'Sponge' episode which was one of the most iconic ones and proceeded to play Luke Danes at Gilmore Girls - the man was iconic!!!

I really don't agree with Teri Hatcher being on this list. When I watched the episode of Seinfeld she was on I had known who she was for years. Love Boat, MacGyver, Soapdish, Tango & Cash. She was very much a known commodity by 1993. Also, Lois & Clark debuted before her Seinfeld episode.

Actually, Lois & Clark debuted a year AFTER Teri's episode which aired in 1992. L&C debuted in fall 1993. It is interesting however that Jerry was a big fan of Superman and Teri played Lois Lane
She'd been on enough shows and movies to be a familiar face, like George Clooney before ER.
Patrick Warburton was also The Tick, and did the voice of Superman in the ads with Jerry Seinfeld.

His Seinfeld appearance and then the first episode of The Commish were both in the same year. Seinfeld aired prior to The Commish release. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because I think that episode aired prior to The release of The Commish. I think you could have snapped your fingers between both though.
Teri Hatcher will always be Lois Lane, and after seeing her movie "Heaven's Prisoner," they look real, and they look spectacular.

The weird thing I remember about Teri Hatcher is how, in her Lois days...and the days of dial-up-modems, she was declared "the most downloaded woman on the internet. We comic book geeks really had to be dedicated to see that picture of her wrapped up in the cape and (according to the imagination) nothing else.

Hey, that Jeremy Piven entry is kind of a cheat. You said you wouldn’t count actors who were already established when the show aired. Piven was in Lucas, Say Anything, Judgment Night, PCU and would star on “Ellen” not long after that episode he was in.
Terri Hatcher did 4 seasons of Lois and Clark the New Adventures of Superman.
Both her Seinfeld first appearance and then her start in Lois & Clark aired in 1993. She appeared in Seinfeld prior to Lois and Clark airing. It's still a technicality, though.
even more interesting when it comes to Bryan Cranston is that he voiced a few monsters in the first season of Power Rangers and was so popular among the cast & crew they gave Billy ( the MMPR Blue Ranger ) the last name Cranston in his honor.
also, you mentioned Lauren Graham but it's worth noting that her Gilmore Girls co-star Scott Patterson also appeared on a Seinfeld episode. The future Luke Danes played a guy Elaine was dating who had to prove he was "sponge worthy"
In the episode the Frogger we can see a very very young Drake Bell playing the titular game. That would’ve been a good honorable mention

Apparently James Spader and Lori Loughlin does not count on the list because they already have fame, with James Spader done his work on "Cheers" and Lori Loughlin done her work on "Full House" respectively.

I will argue that Teri Hatcher was already somewhat known from Macgyver. You should add Peter Stormare instead.
MacGuyver, The Love Boat, Tango and Cash. Not to mention Lois and Clark was already on the air before her episodes on Seinfeld. I would also argue she'd hit the big time well before doing her appearance on Seinfeld. Stormare would have been a nice mention. That man is severely underappreciated.
