I remember watching old xwp conventions on youtube and I clearly remember Lucy saying that this was a real reunion between them as actors. She’d been filming alone for a while and this was their first scene together after that period

@@10animallover10 try the 2003 pasadena convention. can’t remember which part though but Lucy talked about having a hard time working on the sin trade eps alone and that this (reunion) was a such a small moment on the script but big on the screen. still laugh when I remember that the big topic of discussion bts of this scene according to her was the hair people asking the producers if they could use “the new hair clip” for Xena 😂😂💀

I totally agree BUT she did squeeze in a hand kiss for us which I doubt was scripted.
@@angelabariteau I think alot of the affectionate stuff btw them was unscripted, especially on Lucy's part. Their acting was so good and they got so absorbed in it that it just came naturally.

Especially when Renée needs to focus alot on most emotional scenes as it is. And Lucy respects that. I have proof of Renée and Lucy saying so/doing so....so don't come at me certain people on here who think I'm making stuff up. :-P
I miss the shows of the 90s. They had so much adventure. So much wonder and imagination. Even with extremely cheap FX, shows like Xena, Hercules, Wishbone, Buffy, etc, are a million times better than most shows today! Oh, and also, #XenaGabrielle forever!!!!
I may of not been around that era but I love X-files, Buffy, and Xena. Those shows are just amazing and better than most modern shows imo. Way better than supernatural for one to me personally. Also nice Korrasami picture ^^ love that show and that couple

These shows were written around stories. And the actors and actresses were chosen for their ability to convey feelings and emotions to the TV Viewers and NOT because of their names or “Star Power.” We willingly overlooked the writer’s playing with history, personalities, culture and technology because of the story lines and the acting.

@@williampaz2092 Beautifuly said! I agree! It really pains me sometimes to see what most shows are like these times. And don't get me started about reality shows.. I miss the times where there were LONG series full of real creativity, storytelling, adventure and character development. There are still some really good ones but only a few have the magic XWP had for example..
If you listen, you can hear Xena saying "I'm so sorry" and "I love you" during the hug. This scene made me absolutely *_bawl_* when I first saw it. I loved this episode so much. I skip Adventures in the Sin Trade every time because I just want _this_ more than _anything_ else.
She says oh sweetheart but I don't hear the I love you :-(
@@angelabariteau Actually, I don't hear either. I was excited to see this clip & kept waiting for the "Sweetheart" line, but they must have edited it out of this clip & put in, "I'm so sorry," instead.

@@stephaniefaypage8028 I own the DVD boxed set, but I long for new stories. They spanned the gamut from goofy, quirky fun, all the way through heart-breaking high drama. Very few shows manage that, and do it well.

I love this episode, it was an emotional roller-coaster. And that scene were Joxer was placing flowers next to the pit where Gabrielle fell, he really loved her.
I've lost count of how many times I've said "that's the cutest shit i've ever seen" since binging all those clips

Family Affair episode. This is one of my favorites. The first time Xena and Gabrielle see each other after Sacrifice Part 2 which sees Gabrielle and Hope dropping into a fire pit.
My favourite scene in the whole Xena series. Lucy did so well here.

One of mine, too. I wish they would have let Xena kiss her, she thought she was dead after all, but they wouldn't let them kiss at all after it got so popular, not even as friends.

An odd but very effective touch, and I don’t know how they did it: In a lot of the shots of Gabrielle, while under the spell so to speak, she almost looks like she’s being added to the forest via greenscreen, whereas the others are clearly actually in the same space as the forest around them, and once she is back to herself, she looks right again.
This was confusing when you first see it but that's the point.

It was a split scene. Xena and Gabrielle together in one scene and Hope and Joxer in the other.

I never liked the way the writers decided to save Gabrielle from that fall. "What happened?" "I don't remember. I blacked out" "Ok, cool". Then in the very last episodes of the whole show they gave it some "Ares did it" excuse.
I never quite understood why Hope was a lookalike of Gabrielle. It's very interesting though, Hope the child of Dahak is a lookalike of Gabrielle and later on Dahak possesed Iolaus.
She is also a child of Gabrielle.
