Dr. Ramos, thank you for the information, perspective, empathy and knowledge of this. In a financially motivated world I hope for bureaucratic change. My mother is in this horrible limbo on Medicare and the suffering is so unnecessary. It is heartbreaking. I hope you and your colleagues create big change for humanity. God Bless

My abounding gratitude to Dr. Ramos for this fine, succinct, and necessary explanation of the dialysis world, palliative care, and crucial problems ESRD patients and doctors deal with. Having investigated Polycystic Kidney Disease for over 30 years, this video is, hands down, the most informative and honest look at dialysis in the U.S. that I've found. In the last 5 years I've pursued ESRD info, wanting to understand how I'll die. My doctors haven't wanted to talk about it. The light Dr. Ramos sheds on several topics gave me compassion for doctors treating ESRD. It's far more challenging than I'd realized. In all of my study, palliative information for laymen has proven almost nonexistent. I believe all CKD people can benefit from watching video this now, no matter what their disease stage. Please don't assume your nephrologist will present palliative information to you unsolicited, especially before your GFR is low. This presentation has given me hope. Making palliative education a normal part in treating ESRD would be wonderful. Most folks, understandably, want quality of life, but perhaps CKD patients could benefit significantly if we opened our minds to the idea of "quality of death" and what life could be like without dialysis.

I just listened to your answer to the first question... beautiful answer! Telling people that the end of their life / death will be just like falling asleep. 🙏🏻

Thank you. I can tell you’re a good man, and a caring doctor. I myself am only 59 and am stage 4 CKD. I also have CAD, but no diabetes. I am on medicare. I think about what I will want in my future for treatment options and what is “allowed” by current medicare rules. Hopefully, federal health care improves for everyone in the future.
Thank you for your information. It was very helpful to me.
