I just hate the evolutions that require the pokemon to be your buddy. I already need my buddy to farm candies, and the need to switch it 50 times to complete tasks just to evolve a ton of different pokemon, is annoying.

it is worth saying that evolving isn't too hard for candy, if you are too worried about candy just do gbl, I've got hundreds of candy for most legendaries when im a rural player due to the battle league giving rare candy, but you aren't getting them past level 40 without walking for xl candy. The biggest challenge for most of these is getting a good one worth evolving or getting the evolutions tasks/items for them.
Funny timing of the video. This week I’ve now started my daily Gimmighoul boxes and gold lures which will be a grind. Also starting the journey of getting daily Zygarde cells on my dog walk route. Slowly but surely will get there
Evo items (barring Sinnoh and Unova stones) also drop if you can get to an area with a bunch of Poke Stops (low-percent chance, but spinning enough should trigger it) and a couple of them actually can be in gifts. The hard ones for me were Sinnoh Stones (at one point I needed six or seven of them and it felt like they had a 1% drop rate from 2 win GBL sets), but now I'm rebuilding my Unova Stone supply. Someone else might've mentioned this but Charcadet was only in all three egg tiers during its launch event; it's been confined to 10km eggs since. Though Scorching Steps did make it seemingly the most common hatch from 10km eggs. Also, thank you for reminding me to use my coin bag. Forgot to pop it on the way to work this morning and want to have a Golden Lure in bag and the ability to pull a second for Go Fest weekend (need 317 coins and that was after the 8/88 drops for the anniversary event).
Commmunity day really saved me some dex entries I believe. Also, it is a little sad that Solgaleo and Lunala were only research Pokémon (at the moment. Who knows if Go Fest would release them into the raids so the Necrozma fusion mechanic could actually be used), I casually have a cosmog rotting in the box along side my Solgaleo, just waiting for its time to evolve into the moon bat that is Lunala.
i evolved two of my coseom into lunala and solgaleo in march, then necrozma was released. i remember telling my friends watch me cook, once necrozma comes out ur dead and now i have dusk mane and dawn wings necrozma
Frigibax seems be more common in wild on average I see 2 to 5 a day and I’ve evolved my gimmighoul multiple times I’ve evolved 5 of them and have over 4,000 coins can use to evolve more
I appreciate how the game caterrs to casual as well as hardcore players. As a casual player I don't have most of these evolutions, but it's not essential for my game play. For those who are up for the challenge and spending the resources it's fun working hard to get these pokemon, while us others can go on perfectly well without them
I have no relation to any of these pokemon, if I did I'd work my hardest to get them. It can suck if one has a favorite pokemon which is released in pogo and it turns out to be ridiciolously hard to obtain
Me too, I have too many, but that's because I am a hoarder. If they go over 30, I throw them. The funny thing is that I never evolved Seadra to Kingdra even if I have 30 scales. Waiting for good IVs.
Yes most of these Pokémon hard to get candies for, but what about rare candies? FROM THE GO BATTLE LEAGUE! I literally got like 200 rare candies or more from just grinding the GBL
In what timeframe? 200 rare candies aren't that many, specially if you already use most of them to power up/second move legendaries, ultra beasts and mythicals. I only use them on those, the "normal pokemon" get to be a Buddy to farm candies.
Yeah I quit the game for like 6 years and only came back in spring 2023, so I have no Cosmogs. Makes the Necrozma debut at GO fest kinda underwhelming for me tbh...

Wow! I am speechless. Until now, I considered myself to be a basic or novice player that had a whole bunch of nothing. After watching your video I now feel like I have been exceedingly so obsessed with the game. I started playing a couple months after it was released. A few friends referred it to me. I got bored and stopped playing in early 2018. In late 2019 or early 2020 I started playing again. A coworker mentioned a lot of new features. I have played consistently since. Surprisedly, I have at least one of all of the Pokémon mentioned in the video, and all except for two of the evolutions. For some of them I have 10+. I am a little embarrassed to admit my level of commitment to the game. But on the other hand, it is the only game I play period. I have played it while working, while working out, (ellipticals or treadmill). Oh and I have have spent more on this game than any game I have ever owned on the home consoles. If anyone who would like to trade, let me know.
The evo items can be easy to get, but my god, the dragon scale barely exists! It took me like 4 years of play before I finally got it, and it was from a research task! Evolved my Seadra right away and plunked the Kingdra right onto my Switch. I have no one to trade with, so Kingdra was my biggest evolution obstacle for all the dexes I was working on.
Hatched a shiny larvesta not too long ago at King's Island. I was just letting my pokeball plus+ catch everything to generate stardust and gain buddy hearts while I was on vacation since I'm burnt out on playing at the moment. My jaw dropped and immediately sent the screenshot to my coworker who cussed me out for hatching it. 😂
I didn’t realize Frigibax was as uncommon as it is. I have enough for Baxcalibur, all which I’ve found around my apartment the past few months since I started playing Go again.
If you grind daily, nothing is difficult to evolve except Gimmighoul. If you only play POGO, you are forced to purchase other platforms & games just to get a single dex entry
My first female Salandit turned out to be on the 2nd one I ever hatched, granted it took forever to even get those two. I was very happy that all the candy you get from hatching meant I could evolve her into a Salazzle right away!
best part of the whole golden lure bs is, how stellar job Niantic has done making that feature. not only did it take them around 7 months to make that thing eve work on many newer phones. but then they randomly break it again for few days out of nowhere. on the initial 7 months, hitting the "connect to Nintendo Switch" button in the menu, would make certain phones just to "emit a Bluetooth jamming signal" meaning that as long as certain phone models users were hitting the "connect to Nintendo Switch" even Switches that you never have seen before, would just say "no Pokemon Go accounts could be found to pair with" the latest trick form that feature is that Pokemon Go and Scarlet or Violet on Switch will see each other just fine. But when you go and try to send the postcard, the Switch game never sees it and Go says that "your postcard failed to send" again and again. needed to spend extra hour to bring up my old phone back online and on that the feature finally worked again.
With the exception of Ghouldengo, I have all of the other ones. I hatched my Shiny Larvesta literally yesterday. I have 11 Larvesta hatched in my Pokedex. I didn't know it was so rare so I transferred all of them except the 15-15-14 that I currently have. Yesterday I caught a shiny Fennekin and opened my pokemon bag to show it to my wife just to see a shiny Larvesta as the most recent pokemon. I was like "WHAT?!" So yeah... Nice surprise. Also, Frigibax is literally everywhere in my zone. Not anymore but back in April I caught a bunch. Including 2 hundos. I also did the research and evolved my only Poipole into naganadel. The cosmog one is literally absurd. Thank god I went to Go Fest Madrid and got my Lunala. Hahahaha
Nice knowing how hard it is to get the evolution items. I have a bunch from when I started in 2016. I stopped playing and started again this month. I threw away a bunch, I remember that. But I always kept 10 of each item in my bag. So happy I did.
I mean, what Im doing to evolve my volcarona is to consistently get it excited (half distance candy) and leave another in a gym to always be giving it berries for candy, but it's being quite a pain lol
I got a 14/15/14 Shiny Larvest after about 30 eggs, with 8 hatched. 6 Charcadet And enough Goldhengo coins to evolve 3 more gimmighouls, thanks to the recent event that gave 8 or 88 coins, by hosting a golden lure party that lasted for an hour
I’m sorry, I just had to say how freakin proud of myself I am right now. You, the man, only have one Salazel and you’ve been grinding for years. I just started 10/11/24, 2 months ago, and I just evolved mine! I thought it was no big deal but now I’m stoked! Thanks man.
I like the comments about including Zygarde because it's hard to get to its final form, but it's not really an evolution, so I get why it's not included. The one Pokémon I would add to this list is Gogoat. You had to either be at one of the city events or have someone to trade you. Like a few other 'Mons in the video, it's just nearly impossible to get a Skiddo which makes Gogoat one of the rarest evolutions in the game
I'm not sure if it is new, but I have noticed that when you use the coin bag incense for gimmighoul, they drop coins on occasion too when you catch them. That helps if you don't have a ton of golden lures. I have heard that having gimmighoul as your buddy increases the chance and amount they drop too. Not confirmed, just heard that's the case.
good vid, definitely wouldve mentioned zygarde as a special mention since it's technically not a standard evolution. would be cool if you did a similar video for the hardest platinum medals to achieve!
1:32 i played since October of 2023. i didnt know those things were difficult to get until now lol. luckily i live at an area where there are so many spin stops at my home that i get lots of these and not think much of it
I swear getting Gholdengo is just getting Melmetal but harder. I've done Melmetal in GO, and I'm very proud of it, but that took close to a month. I am not repeating that especially since I'm not an active Go player who would care.
The shiny magearna you get for completing the Pokédex on pokemon home is arguably the hardest imo not for an evolution but to obtain. Cause you also have to go through the pain of evolving or obtaining mons that are already difficult to get (if you want to make it easier pokemon home is a thing just transfer)
Probably there should be Wiglett in this list.. it’s hard to find in general because of the beach biome, it’s not guaranteed to be there when you play there anyway , and some people don’t live near beaches. Now find more than 1 to get candy is not the easiest thing to do. Well I personally made it my buddy , 3km per candy and be manageable if you don’t wanna use rare candy to get 50 candies to get Wugtrio.
No way the poipole research expired just a few days after I started playing again! I did catch it and it was 3 ⭐️ unlike most of my mythical or shadow legendaries…
Managed 35-40 candies walking Cosmog in 3 months and 614 Kilometers later, and still going... 100% IVs i dont have a choice, thats my buddy for the next 5 years
"2 times ever players could catch Cosmog and get candy for it. Since then there have been no eggs, raids, research nothing. No way to get more Cosmog and more specifically more Cosmog candy" Solgaleo and Lunala raids would like a word on that "No way to get more candy" comment.
I actually just had one of those Bewears spawn in my neighborhood driving home this morning....It's pink on the top and was a 1421cp. Caught it on a bad throw with a regular pokeball no berries lol. It's also an XL 3.11m and 312kg.. She's a big girl...
Not to mention there are a LOT of people who have issues connecting their phone to scarlet and violet. A known issue that hasn't been rectified. I think it's due to the Bluetooth version the switch has because too old for modern phones.
I got cosmog from go fest 2024, and started during said go fest so I had a hard time going through the research. I’ve been grinding candy for cosmog using rare candies and keeping it as my buddy. It truly is a pain
Not an evolution, getting zygarde complete is just as hard as those evos.

on the initial 7 months, hitting the "connect to Nintendo Switch" button in the menu, would make certain phones just to "emit a Bluetooth jamming signal"
meaning that as long as certain phone models users were hitting the "connect to Nintendo Switch" even Switches that you never have seen before, would just say "no Pokemon Go accounts could be found to pair with"
the latest trick form that feature is that Pokemon Go and Scarlet or Violet on Switch will see each other just fine.
Female Salandit on the first ever batch of 12k eggs since release. I felt lucky back then 🍀
They should really make Gimmighoul be able to spawn around Golden Lure Modules, for those of us unable to play Newer console games.
NGL, I personally feel that Zygarde would be harder to evolve considering the amount of time you have to put in to to find all the cell.
I got a 14/15/14 Shiny Larvest after about 30 eggs, with 8 hatched.
6 Charcadet
And enough Goldhengo coins to evolve 3 more gimmighouls, thanks to the recent event that gave 8 or 88 coins, by hosting a golden lure party that lasted for an hour
Thanks for the shout on gloom to bellosom had so many sun stones and wow bellosom is an amazing shiny ✨ stay awesome everyone!
0:53 bro i have like 5 or more of each evo item huh
Even worse for Gimmighoul, but you can't send two postcards from the exact same place to have several bags. That's just insane.
Bro forgot:
-zygarde
-dusk lycanrock
-party of 3 mousehold
And also gholdengo is an absolute beast in master leauge. This guy is a crackpot
Yes, I evolved the Gholdengo, thank God!!! The community came together and everyone with a Switch helped every one that didn't :-)
I know zygarde is a form change but that’s easily the most challenging. You’re not even guaranteed cells if you walk a route 😵💫
I got super lucky, and could evolve my Poipole during the Goomy event. Saved me absolute ages, thank god!
Ive been grinding magicarp halfway to getting mew
No way the poipole research expired just a few days after I started playing again! I did catch it and it was 3 ⭐️ unlike most of my mythical or shadow legendaries…
Mythicals are usually so weak,
And then I catch a Hundo melpetta
Managed 35-40 candies walking Cosmog in 3 months and 614 Kilometers later, and still going... 100% IVs i dont have a choice, thats my buddy for the next 5 years
i got a fused 95 IV shiny necrozma
I hatched Frixibax, Larvesta and both, Male & female Salandit just in span of two weeks a month ago. Didn't even realize they were that rare. 😅
I have a couple of these, Baxcalibur, Naganadel, & a perfect shadow Ursaluna.
I hatched 1 12km egg first try got salandit. It was female too 😂
Why does pokemon Go just decide that every so often they are going to drop a pokemon that's literally impossible for casuals to evolve like zygard.
Dishonorable mention: Zygarde.
Wait what, when gen 2 released with evolution items, they were ridicilously rare to find.. but now they are much easier to find
Frigibax is way more common now. I get multiple spawns a day.
That cosmog i got hundo and had it for a long time until a few days ago when i evolved it i didnt know what i can do with it
Ursaring to ursaluna in Pokemon go is meant to be a reference to Pokemon legends Arceus's same evolution method
Gonna get my 100 % Zygarde tomorrow
Hatched a hundo Salazzle not too long ago. I was super excited when that happened.
I actually managed to hatch a hundo on my... 9th or 10th? Salandit. Of course, it was male. This is why I have a "Cursed" tag.
also i think gholdengo is a decent ghost type raid attacker cuz i've seen it pop up on certain raid boss counters
Didn’t implement the coins for “no reason”. It’s literally the entire gimmick of that Pokémon in both Pokémon go and Pokémon scarlet and violet
I got cosmog from go fest 2024, and started during said go fest so I had a hard time going through the research. I’ve been grinding candy for cosmog using rare candies and keeping it as my buddy. It truly is a pain
Larvester and shiny larvester. Evolved the normal one as it was a 98%. Still working on charcadet. Need to battle a friend.
