I love muddy waters music, and I am from the Caribbean, I can remember in 1973 my dad was playing a song of muddy called "you don't have to go",and from this day muddy waters has never left me,please help save his house.
One of my proudest parenting moments: mid-90's. my kids are 12-13 years old. I come home from a gig at 2 in the morning, and from their bedroom I can hear the "Best of Muddy Waters" album playing on repeat in their bedroom. (fyi, they're musicians to this day, and still love the blues and represent like mad) (and I get to play in a band with them!) Muddy is the headwaters. His home needs to be preserved. (I guess they managed to do so, so all right!)
You've got to be f'in kidding me. Why isn't this on the list of national historic places? Hmm link to the foundation doesn't work as of OCt 2017. I mean, aint no rich mo fo who could kick in and save this place? Aint no justice in the world. Buy the surrounding properties and make a studio or musicians co-op out of it. Something. Shit. Your father's music and legacy have touched my very soul, and so many others, and will to future generations, immortally. From Mozart to Muddy Waters. And, I'd bet Wolfgang would dig the blues. No money can ever change that. All that matters.
damn I'm glad I saw this!!! in nyc .. still do not know how it came to pass, but electric ladyland was kept shut (but 'there') for years. and then .. one day there was just this tearing it up, and it became after this just a kind off crummy typical place you could get coffee. nothing about what it 'had been.' not a shred left. and this? hell, it's the man's former home! an american blues master; our classical music besides jazz.
Muddy came b4 ELVIS but yet ELVIS house is still up and active today but when it comes to important black artists they never get the RESPECT ! To this day they still have no respect for the Blues music ! Now I got America losing there minds with they way they act and think and the way they live !?! Bless all the Black artists who never got recognition !
Watch this ! If you have any Blues running through you you will feel what I felt when I watched this. Muddy Waters home should be on a national historical registry. Pass this on and do something if you can.
Okay, I'll be sending what I can, and posting this on my Facebook. I'm sure it will get done, Mud, good work, I'm sure it wasn't easy to do this video, but many people will be glad you did !....Peaceloveblues....spread the news !
All those British white boys and the American ones should chip in and turn that into a shrine or a small museum. They owe everything to those blues cats. Led Zeppelin , the stones. , the doors , cream.
It should be a historical monument, I believe the house is in Chicago where are the great Muddy Waters popularized the blues more than any other artist all the while influencing many British and American rock and roll bands... Muddy was the man he brought Electric Blues to the masses... I find it hard to believe the historical Society has not saved that house... Have two groups or more in the British Invasion or the NAACP or Rock and Roll Hall of Fame..MJ somebody damn!!!!
What is the latest on this issue? I would like to help and think its a possibility with our nonprofit org we could raise funds for this. The website link isn't working, but please contact us..
I don't know much about how that works to me that is a piece of history that's a historical home buy a famous black blues good luck with your quest to save your father's home
On the website: "the Foundation plans to create a community resource that preserves this important American legacy". No mention of anything like that in the video...what's the plan?
As far as I know the first plan is to acquire the home and save it from demolition. Then theres a whole new challenge of renovating and turning it into a museum for Blues fans from all over the world to visit. Much like the Berry Gordy Motown house in Detroit.
why is it that every house on that block is emaculate, well kept, beautiful, yet this house is a ramshackled broken down mess ? because the family let it sit and rot. now they want your money to fix it. no way.
@@dcan911 im in chicago, the word has always been that the family owned it . it has been a run down shack for years. the neighborhood wants it torn down .
@@TheDoug2103 maybe his family are dicks, but regardless, it's a piece of history which would be a shame to lose. However his family must have money, I would hate to think they're taking donations if they intend to profit from the house.
Why is this not on the national registry of historic places? This man was an American treasure never to be forgotten!
Keith Richards ought to buy it and make it a proper shrine. National monument for sure.
Clapton also...I was thinking that same ole thang
One of the most important people in blues. This should have been be preserved, as much as Elvis Graceland. Muddy was that for the blues genre

Thank You Chris
My pleasure Mud

very sad there are so few views.. hope that gets fixed quickly!
---??---I thought the repair was already underway months ago --? Will get in touch.
It's mind blowing that Chicago would allow this to even happen
Why is this recommended 6 years later!

Just came across this. I’m a singer/songwriter from Jackson, TN, home of Carl Perkins. What ever come of Muddy Waters’ house?
You the house Muddy lived in, Clarksdale, is in the Delta Blues Museum.
Weren't they planning on making his Westmont [Illinois] home a museum also??
What's the latest on this, did it get saved?
Saw a few articles online suggesting it is to become a community center/recording space. Looks promising
what became of this? anyone know?
The local authority in Chicago want to get their act together. This cannot be happening
I don't know much about how that works to me that is a piece of history that's a historical home buy a famous black blues good luck with your quest to save your father's home

That should be a monument.
What's the outcome of this?
This is so sad. This should be a city monument. They should turn into a museum with Muddy artifacts. This gives me the blues.
Absolutely right
Man tell that s*** down
Did it get saved or what!?!?!
Sadly I think they demolished it
Help save his home?Is he still living there?
Is who living there?
Need to be hitting up your local congressman...
It’s best to let it go and make room for the future upgrade for the area let the dead go he not coming back🙏let him rest he at peace now

Do we know that the family still owned it? I assumed Muddy Waters sold it decades ago, or his family sold it after his death.
