The outfits that you make are absolutely amazing. I am new to sewing and I've watched a lot of your videos, which have really inspired and helped me to understand how patterns are put together and sewing outfits extra. Thank you for posting these videos, they do help others.
i honestly have no interest in sewing things myself but watching her videos always amaze me. i cant help but watch even though i dont understand some of the things she says.
Wow i love your way of draping patterns. It's not how one normally sees patterns draped but works way better for my brain :) I'm excited to try it on my next pattern and thank you for going so in-depth and showing us how everything is done. Beautiful precise work! :)
Hello, Miss Angela. that jacket looks absolutely beautiful. You are really talented and beautiful with making lovely dresses. I hope to see a Belle inspired tutorial soon. Have a lovely day, Angela
Love this! I love watching your videos with my morning coffee and these voice over tutorials are my favorite by far, they're so informative! You do such a great job!
You might get some french curves to help making curves smoother or more regular. It doesn't really look like you need them, I just thought I'd mention them in case you haven't seen those. A flexible ruler is nice too, and might help with curved measurements.
Hi. Non-sewing person here. Your vids are brilliant! And I also thought this jacket would look really cool without the sleeves. For this era of course. :p
Beautiful. Have always admired the look of jackets from that stage in history. Wish though you would make some more in-depth video or tutorial on actually putting something together. Something small. Just an idea. You are a really admiring person when it comes to doing this kind of thing
+Kaylah Faye Thank you so much! I'd like to someday, but tutorials are hard to do since they are so time consuming to edit, and explaining every detail makes videos really long. If a simple day project like a horsehair skirt takes 13 minutes, then a jacket that takes me a week would be an hour long video at least. Right now that is a little more time than i'd like to invest into a video - ecspecially since I don't think many people would want to watch something that length!
Another great video from you, as usual. The Jacket seems to spring to life in no time at all. I look eagerly to see how you finish it. Don't know whats going on with the view count but there are 12.397 spoil-sports in the world. Keep Sewing! You have a fantastic talent :)
This is so beautiful, and i can imagine to wear it nowadays just with modifying the sleeves. It would be so gorgeous! Maybe one day when i'll be a little bit more skilled in sewing :)
How on earth do you keep your nails so nice? Mine are weak to begin with, plus now that I'm paying rent with a Starbucks job I can't paint them anyway, but I never had ever a professional manicure last longer than 3 days if I'm sewing and crafting at the same time.
i would love if you do more tutorial based things,, that is, could you show us how you drape your patterns and how you build your corsets with the underwire in the bra area....
hey angela i'm having trouble with making a cupped corset or a corset in general. The corset can not stay up and if i do one wrong move it slip a little. I was wondering if you can do a video on corsets and the types of boneings you should use for it, if you have time. Thanks for all of your efforts angela!
amazing this is stunning. I know that you are self taught in sewing but what are some recourses that you found helpful when you were learning how to draft patterns.
Beautiful jacket. About the way you draft patterns, do you do this with all your designs and does the manikin need to be your exact measurements for this to work. I have an adjustable manikin however there are gaps between the panels would this be a problem. So far i have used the more technical way of drafting patterns using measurements however i find this hasn't worked well with more unique garments and i am not very good with math. I was thinking about trying out your technique in my next project but am not sure it will work well with my manikin. Love your videos as always, can't wait to see how this outfit turns out.
HAHA! I KNOW HOW TO MAKE A JACKET LIKE THIS NOW! I've been searching for hours. It's 2 am. I started at 7 pm. Oh my god my eyes hurt, I know how to make 14 outfits, but I did it!
I like it, but I wonder if it isn't more historically accurate to have button holes on the jacket and the actual buttons on the dress? My areas of expertise on historical clothing mainly centers around Regency but I feel fairly certain on this point.
+LaBouilloireNoire I've never seen that done on sporting attire from this period (except maybe on sporting costumes with vests). Part of the joy of sporting costumes was the versatility, and you'd lose that if you couldn't remove the jacket without having buttons visible on your shirt! And for this piece the buttons extend past the shirtwaist worn underneath it, so half the buttons would have to be sewn to the pants, which would look pretty silly.
I see, I imagined a vest underneath this so that the jacket would set well in place and not shift about when you were moving. But if you are going for a billowy blouse look underneath then you would obviously not want the buttons laying strongly on the blouse.
I like your videos, it ispires me :) ...but it kinda hurts looking on when you cuting your pattern ad how much space you leaving betwen the pieces...you can use the leftovers latter, its such a waste when you do it like this....
Téra Chocholatá if you listen around the 3:00 mark, she mentions positioning pattern pieces on the grain line, and also the herringbone pattern. Both those things mean “wasting” some fabric so that the final product drapes correctly, and so that the pattern runs in the correct orientation and matches at seams.
Hi! Your creations are fantastic! I'm 16, Italian and I study fashion design in my high school. I love historycal clothes and one day I'd like to try to make one. I want to open a youtube channel like yours where I sew clothes and stuff like that but I don't have any idea where to start. Can you do a video about what you like to sew and your job carrer? Thank you. If you find any mistakes in this message I apolagize, I'm Italian. I wish the best for you, your channel and your dreams. :D
Heya I'm doing spring awakening for costume design for my final year of high school as a major project. Because it is based on the 1890's, I just wanted to ask what resources you get your inspiration from for your costumes? like books, images or anything like that. I used your post board for some inspiration, but I would love to know what other resources you use to inspire your designing. x
+Sailorsux For the 1890s the majority of my inspiration came from pinterest. I must have gone through hundreds of boards just to get an idea of the silhouettes and techniques, and I pinned anything I liked along the way. I referenced museum archives and blogs a bit too, but it was mostly pinterest haha. Usually I use books a lot more, but most tend to skip from the Victorian era right into Edwardian fashion, and the leave out the 1890s. "The Kyoto Costume Institute" and "Victorian Fashions and Costumes from Harper's Bazar" are both fantastic, but they only have a few pages devoted to that period.
+Angela Clayton thank you so much for your reply! it really helps. You're actually the one who inspired me to look into costume design. I loved the way you bone everything yourself, and I am utterly infatuated with your sketches and outcomes. can't wait to see the rest of the suit. love and thanks from australia
+Geraldine Heredia This is addressed in the description box because it always gets brought up. It isn't something I would recommend doing but i've only broken two needles doing it in the entire time i've been sewing compared to the dozens i've broken due to tension issues, working with heavy weight materials, and sewing with boning. So that isn't a major concern of mine, but it still isn't something i'd suggest other people do.
wow..u are amazing!.. but please,.remove your pins every time it hits the teeth of the sewing machine,.it can damage both the machine and the fabric..and i also observe that u use a single presser foot,.it is used for stitching zipper, isn't it? but all in all,.you are doing an amazing job,.so therapeutic to watch,.;)
Hi is this jacket is very very nice it's too awesome lovely 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😚😚😚💙💙💙 even is also good 😚😚 but one problem I am trying to make this jacket from many days not many days from 2 months I am trying but its not getting me without measurements I don't know how to do please can you show pattern with measurements please please please I want to do this but I don't know how but I need your help please with measurements can you show the jacket how to do pattern please and I am hoping you will reply to this an I vl be waiting 🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇
In 20 years of sewing I've never attempted draping. You make it look so simple! You amaze me even more with every video I watch.
The wool looks fabulous and it drapes wonderfully, having just enough weight that shows it has body but doesn't appear to heavy or bulky.
Bravo! The flow of this video is remarkable. I get impatient watching tutorials and demos. Thank you for sharing your work.
I really appreciate the fact that you share your methods with us. I find it inspiring and very encouraging in my own projects.
The outfits that you make are absolutely amazing. I am new to sewing and I've watched a lot of your videos, which have really inspired and helped me to understand how patterns are put together and sewing outfits extra. Thank you for posting these videos, they do help others.
I've loved seeing garments from my favorite era of fashion coming to life! Wonderful job!
i honestly have no interest in sewing things myself but watching her videos always amaze me. i cant help but watch even though i dont understand some of the things she says.
I love how you draft patterns! I too am an extremely visual person, and will have to try your version of it!!
Oh my gosh!! this is the kind of videos I love. your process is amazing!! it brings back my childhood watching my mom sew!! thanks for this.
+Sarah Longshore Aww, thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoy it!
Wow i love your way of draping patterns. It's not how one normally sees patterns draped but works way better for my brain :) I'm excited to try it on my next pattern and thank you for going so in-depth and showing us how everything is done. Beautiful precise work! :)
I get so jealous, because all I want in life is your sewing ability! Another gorgeous creation! I can't wait for the next part/s. You're so inspiring.
Hello, Miss Angela. that jacket looks absolutely beautiful. You are really talented and beautiful with making lovely dresses. I hope to see a Belle inspired tutorial soon. Have a lovely day, Angela

Such a lovely video and beautiful start to your jacket.
gorgeous, love love the fabrics you choose and the styles are fab.
I just used your pattern making method, and I'm so excited by what I've got so far. Thank you SO much for sharing this amazing approach!! xo
You might get some french curves to help making curves smoother or more regular. It doesn't really look like you need them, I just thought I'd mention them in case you haven't seen those. A flexible ruler is nice too, and might help with curved measurements.
Very nice! Looking forward to the rest of the coat!
I love the jacket especially the back... Love it!
Amazing! I'm impressed by your drafting skills - professional or not it gets the job done, and done well!
I actually really liked your draping/drafting technique, I'll have to try that next time
Beautiful jacket! Thanks for the ironing tip! :)

Hi. Non-sewing person here. Your vids are brilliant! And I also thought this jacket would look really cool without the sleeves. For this era of course. :p
Perfection. You've made me very happy.

How on earth do you keep your nails so nice? Mine are weak to begin with, plus now that I'm paying rent with a Starbucks job I can't paint them anyway, but I never had ever a professional manicure last longer than 3 days if I'm sewing and crafting at the same time.
I would love to wear this as just a badass vest! :)
Your work is gorgeous. Just subscribed.
i would love if you do more tutorial based things,, that is, could you show us how you drape your patterns and how you build your corsets with the underwire in the bra area....
GORGEOUS! please make more
Those acrylic quilting rulers are so fragile!!! I relate
This video was so helpful to me you have no idea thankyou
hi Angela, fascinated by your pattermaking process! I wonder, how do you incorporate "ease" as is mentioned on purchased patterns?
hey angela i'm having trouble with making a cupped corset or a corset in general. The corset can not stay up and if i do one wrong move it slip a little. I was wondering if you can do a video on corsets and the types of boneings you should use for it, if you have time. Thanks for all of your efforts angela!
+4monkees thank you! I need all the help I can get
omg, that's so cool! Thank you for this ♡ It's going to help me a lot, I'm working on a similar one so yeah. Lovd your creations btw xD
this is very amazing
this looks lot like a vest I own but without the decorations and bustle
amazing this is stunning. I know that you are self taught in sewing but what are some recourses that you found helpful when you were learning how to draft patterns.
Beautiful jacket. About the way you draft patterns, do you do this with all your designs and does the manikin need to be your exact measurements for this to work. So far i have used the more technical way of drafting patterns using measurements however i find this hasn't worked well with more unique garments and i am not very good with math. I was thinking about trying out your technique in my next project but am not sure it will work well with my manikin. Love your videos as always, can't wait to see how this outfit turns out.
sewing porn...😍 you're giving me serious motivation to push on with my sewing and get out of my comfort zone!
This is wonderful. Did you pre steam shrink the fabric before cutting and sewing? Thank you
HAHA! I KNOW HOW TO MAKE A JACKET LIKE THIS NOW! I've been searching for hours. It's 2 am. I started at 7 pm. Oh my god my eyes hurt, I know how to make 14 outfits, but I did it!
Your work is astonishing. What do you end up doing with the finished product? Do you sell them? Donate them? Just curious.
You are an inspiration!
I didn't understand so well how you did the patterns, it was so fast! haha please explain them cause the jacket it's really cool ^^
Hello dear Angela, can you please tell me what is the size of this jacket? It's shoulder, bust, waist, hip and length?
me encantó..... saludos desde México
esperaré con ansias la segunda aparte.......
I like it, but I wonder if it isn't more historically accurate to have button holes on the jacket and the actual buttons on the dress? My areas of expertise on historical clothing mainly centers around Regency but I feel fairly certain on this point.

Hi only watched this video but she does say she designed ir so does it really mater it's her twist on the garment x
I like your videos, it ispires me :) ...but it kinda hurts looking on when you cuting your pattern ad how much space you leaving betwen the pieces...you can use the leftovers latter, its such a waste when you do it like this....

beautiful!
if you dont mind my asking, what other sort of fabric would you reccomend? im making a similar jacket and am not sure if wool is appropriate.
Very nice!
I love this jacket! Do you have a pattern for it?
All of your historical clothes are so beautiful, do you just make them for yourself or sell them?
Do you sell PDF Patterns? I love this!
hey can you give us a tutorial showing how to make modern day blazer with patterns please
how the heck are you sewing over pins without your needle shattering? O.o
Rebecca Robinson the needle slips over the pins if you put them perpendicular to the needle
What green fabric did you use to creat the pattern on the dress form? I need that.
Hi! Your creations are fantastic! I'm 16, Italian and I study fashion design in my high school. I love historycal clothes and one day I'd like to try to make one. Do you have any advice on doing this without a mannequin?
very impressive, how you create the pattern.
love your videos! keep it up :)
I love it 😍

I love this 😍😍
I need that pattern! Also is it possible to make other sleeves?
Hey I am doing a textiles course based on historical fashion is it alright if you could possible send me this pattern please?
oh my goodness i'm never one to comment but please do not sew over your pins it can bend your pins and potentially break the needle on the machine
Plus it could fly off into your eye and blind you
+Geraldine Heredia This is addressed in the description box because it always gets brought up.
