  • Sam Hyde with Nick Rochefort and Charls Carroll on Perfect Guy Life PGL are talking first about Chris Farley and a Saturday Nigh Live SNL character Jerry Sozio aka "So I says to the guy". After this Sam Hyde brings up a funny clip from Billy Madison that the boys react too. Finally Sam brings up a mysteriously scrubbed video of a David Spade's Performance from the Detroit Auto Show in 2007. David Spade and Jason Vines performed a skit after a sequence with Hobo clowns as described by Sam. (Video still has yet to be found).

    Chris Farley was an extremely talented actor who was always type casted into extremely minimizing roles. There was this notorious and legendary Tony award winning theatre production writer/director who would train actors better than Juliard but literally hated all of his students for like 4 decades til someone brought Chris around one time and the director demanded Chris come to every practice. He loved Chris. He would constantly put him in all these extremely complicated acting scenarios that would have layers of drama but sometimes levity and Chris would always floor him. This director went out of his way to talk to every casting person he could get a hold of, to all of their surprise (these casting people knew of this person, they didn't know him to A) like actors and B) even talk to people let alone people in productions in Hollywood, he was a legend so they listened). Chris was slated to be cast for the role of the Cable Guy, the voice of Shrek, the lead in the Confederacy of Dunces adaptation, and 3 other movies that were destined for Oscar knods. Crazy to think of what could have been for what amounts to my favorite actor of all time. Was validating to find this all out when I grew up. Chris Farley was someone who outshined the greatest comic actors of all time, for reference John C. Reiley studied Chris and channeled a different form of his hysterics.

    The press event was on January 10, 2006, Spade came out during the Dodge Caliber section and repeatedly attempted to get the head of PR into the trunk, eventually succeeding and driving off with him. The Aspen reveal was with "Slava's Snowshow", it's some off broadway show with clowns dancing to O Fortuna.
    Only footage I could see is a short facebook video showing only the Aspen in the snow posted by Stellantis North America on December 28, 2023, nothing with the dancing. I would imagine they have the full event somewhere still, just not on the internet...

    Yeah the first 15 "I says" were kinda funny but it got pretty unbearable after the 81st. Guess I just don't get this comedy shit.....🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

      SNL sorta doesn't hold up if you rewatch even the "good" seasons. That Farley 'he says' bit is more funny as an idea than a performance. "What if he never says what he says? lol"

    • @fuzzy8593
      @fuzzy8593 5 місяців тому

      The joke is the audience in that skit, waiting to hear what he “says to the guy.” It is uncomfortable after 81 times 😂 you are right.

    The reason you can't find an old ad from chrysler with David spade is because literally no one records new ads. Even old ads are onky with us because people had old vhs tapes but no one screen grabs David spade chrysler standup performance that's played on like yahoo news in some proprietary video player and saves it as an mp4 to torrent lol
    In 2006, David Spade performed a skit with Chrysler Group's vice president of communications, Jason Vines, during an introduction. In the skit, Spade makes fun of Vines, calling him "Larry".

    Farley was one of those last huge comedy prescences. In retrospect his was one of few celebrity deaths that genuinely felt like someone great was lost. The gutter trash passing for comedy nowadays isnt even half as talented as the dumps Farley took.

      I would argue Danny McBride competes with him. He’s funny as hell and also a writer that writes and produces his own shows.

    Chris Farley “I says” clip is so bad. The joke is cooked after like 10 seconds and in traditional SNL fashion just goes on way way too long.
