From shore we have a line to the first decoy. The boat drops the decoys one after the other and then pulls an anchor from the last decoy to a direction we want them in. We then attach another set of decoys from the first decoy in another direction forming a "V". Eiders sometimes like to land in the middle of the "V".

how bad do those decoys get shot up?
Not as bad as you would think, and foam filled helps!!
