I’ve been feeling a little discouraged lately and this video really helped and made me feel less alone! I can relate so much to the things you’re talking about. Especially feeling like nobody around really cares or understands, and even feeling like some people are just waiting for me to drink again so we can do things that revolve around alcohol like we used to. 😕 Btw you are super pretty and have such a lovely speaking voice! 💖
I care! So even when you feel like that just remember that even just one person who doesn’t know cares and you are doing a great job! It’s hard sometimes but it’s so worth it, I’m sure you made the decision for a reason so remember that why ❤️ xx
For the chronic alcoholic, your life depends on being "all in" when it comes to recovery. Drinking non-alcoholic beverages is like playing Russian Roulette. There will come a day and a situation where NOTHING will stand between you and a drink, except your spiritual condition. No amount of knowledge, or willpower will save you. I'm grateful to know that I was a full blown chronic alcoholic, because I don't have to perform mental gymnastics trying to decide how much of a "problem drinker" I am. After more than 27 years of continuous sobriety, I am more "all in" than ever. Why? Because I'm still capable of sabotaging my life, which is the root problem. I have a spectacular life today, but I can't keep what I have unless I practice the things that got me here!
@@TheLifeofLindseyB Thank you Lindsey. I am only sharing what was freely shared with me in my early years of sobriety. I'm not a saint and never will be, but practicing the things I've learned gives me, and so many others the ability to see trouble a mile away! : )
Totally agree with the 'Just fancy a beer'. I don't think anyone enjoys being drunk but simply having a nice cold beer which can be accomplished with an alcohol free one.
I've been to pubs with family or friends since quitting. Being five years sober, I'm just not bothered or tempted to drink anymore. It's ceased being an issue. In Australia, we have bottle shops selling alcohol free alternatives, and even alcohol free bars. These probably work for many, but in my case, the need just isn't there. If you're tempted to have a wedding drink years after quitting, just remember:- one drink could lead to one dozen, then you're back to square one. If you begin friendships with people who don't drink , the problem is much less prevalent. You also have a choice. You can choose to not be in situations where you think you'll be tempted. I don't worry about what people think......and they don't care anyway. Stand by your principles. It's your life.....and your health. 💃🏋️⛹️
You have alcohol free bars - that’s great! We have alcohol free places here but most places in hotels are licensed. I don’t really think about it when I’m out too.thanks for sharing :-)
You don't like being drunk, and don't like the taste of alcohol.......so you've done the logical thing. The defence rests. I have friends that drink. They just don't drink with me. We cycle, go to the gym, hiking, or the beach. Then at 2pm, I bid them farewell to go and do whatever. I do drink Coke from time to time as it has that satisfying 'bite' to it when you sip it, which most alcoholic drinks have. But even with Coke, I limit it to twice per week(Saturday and maybe Wednesdays). And I have a saying:- if you have the money and time to drink, then you have the money and time for the gym. Just switch over!
My question wasn't trolling ha! Taste/feeling it gives you is definitely something as you get people like cultured wine drinkers vs people who drink just to get pissed
I really appreciate your videos and vulnerability. I am working on a sober lifestyle and these are absolutely great tips!
You got this!
Thank you, you inspire me.

I’m a coach so I spend so much time in the gym already too :-) not drinking helps with my performance massively as well

Haha! I wasn’t sure 🙂 but I answered it genuinely :-)
Gave me a nudge haha. Joking aside it has benefitted me to reduce my consumption a few times a month, if that.
I gave you a nudge to be healthier! haha! You now drink all of it in one go instead! ;-)
