Thank you Ross! Your amazing influence has created waves of transformation the world over! It could be said, your true message is peace - you create peace through your knowledge and practice of your knowledge. You've left for us an endless legacy which the younger generation must pick up and embrace. This message is a lifeline for us all as humans - creating perspectives and potentials where there was none before. Once again, thank you! ❤

I also am an Irish who knows and loves everything Greek. I can't explain my obsession with all things Greek, except that it is 100% emotionally satisfaction.

Exactly to the point. Very nice speech. The more we interact with neighbour cultures, the more we learn about our own culture (via the fact of historical cultural exchange and mutual influence) as individuals, and -collectively- the more chance there is that culture will further evolve.

Very interesting talk. Lots of useful information, well presented. But the sound quality in this video is very poor, and makes it hard to watch. But i perservered because it was so interesting.

The Musical idioms of the broader Islamic world are an extremely important part of the world of modal music. In fact they comprise the largest part of this tradition

I love Ross Daly's music. His philosophy though bores me senseless. some pop can be great too..

Have loved your concept of a contemporary modal music. For someone like me, an american guitar player very far from all of these traditions, what would be a practicable 'way into' learning more about and possibly being able to play/compose contemporary modal music?

A nice point there: that we should also be proud of how much we absorb and learn from others and that overly defining our political boundaries inhibits this growth. It's a pity that there was so much noise interference from chatterboxes in the background.

    • @MrPoutsesMple

+ΣΚΡΟΥΤΖ ΜΑΚ ΝΤΑΚ To be fair, the people making the background noise are in the immediately adjacent cafeteria and they are not actually aware of the fact that they are disrupting the talks. It was not an issue of indifference or rudeness, rather it was a miscalculation on the part of the organisers who probably weren’t aware of how much noise would be generated by those in the cafeteria. Add to this the fact that the room in which we spoke could only hold a small number of listeners so the majority of the people found themselves in the cafeteria by default.

Music is always about culture and life in general. He's using modal music as a concrete reflection of the fertile cultural interaction between peoples and calls for a rethinking of 'communalism' as you call it in India. I am suspecting that you didn't fully understand the very literate nature of his language.
