That is taglish combination of tagalog and English. That's normal in daily conversations. Philippines has a lot of languages. I suggest you listen to classic tagalog language and see if you understand any
I am from Brazil and therefore I speak Portuguese, a Romance language. I loved to see East Timor speaking Portuguese, it is a bit strange to think that one people on the other side of the world is speaking the same language as you, and you can understand everything that they are saying... I love that feeling but at the same time it feels strange. The language that was a lot different in this video was Tamil... OMG, what sounds and rhythm are those?!
Just a clarification. There are 4 languages that are considered "Romantic." These are French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. It has nothing to do with "romance" but rather, they were all derived from the Roman language (thus Romantic), which is Latin. Latin died when the Roman empire expired. But the language mutated into these 4 languages. Note: All 4 countries were part of the Roman Empire although they were the only ones to adapt their languages from Latin. Thus South American countries, which speaks either Spanish or Portuguese came to be known as Latin America.
@Chris Soriano This is an old comment, but there are a lot more than four Romance languages, not only ones spoken within other countries, but also Romanian, which is the language of an entire country as well 👍
Wow.. I was very surprised about the language of Timor Leste, it has Portuguese influence. Thus, Filipinos will understand much of the words they use because we have a Spanish influence in our language too.. Portuguese and Spanish are almost the same I believe. But Bahasa Indonesia seems very interesting language. I think the words are very easy to pronounce. 😊
FALSE. Portuguese have very different sounds and pronunciation compared to spanish. Maybe in its written form the languages seems similar but you will not understand its spoken form.
If you take individual words all latin languages Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, French etc.. have similar words that you can de recognize but when it come to speaking probably Italian a e Spanish are more similar .
It is easy to categorize them. Indo-china a.k.a mainland southeast Asias language are very similar ( Thai, Viet, Lao, Myanmar, Cambodia ) and maritime southeast Asia are also similar to each other ( Indonesian, Tagalog, Malaysian)
I don't think so. It sounds more emphasized and thus sounds hard and harsh. Not bad, but when exclaiming a point. You guys tend to be very clear and loud. Elongating it even.

Filipino language has strong influences from both Malay and Indonesian vocabularies because people from both these countries were among the major foreign settlers in ancient Philippine history.
it's because we are all austronesian. nothing to do with foreign immigration. infact the pattern of austronesian migration is from Taiwan to the Philippines to present Indonesia and malaysia
I am from the Philippines and I understand a little with Timor Leste due to its many Portuguese words. The reason to this is that Filipino languages has Spanish words that almost half of our vocabulary. Spanish and Portuguese are very similar.

I'm from East Timor. We are brothers of CPLP😇❤️
