I was there about 8 years ago and I was told that it was used as part of the Ho Chi Mihn Trail during the American War. So its surprising you were told it was "discovered" in 2004

Well this is the information that I received online before I posted my video
Located in Ban Na Kang Xang village Thakhek District, this cave was discovered in April 2004 and contains 229 ancient Buddha images nestled between the cave's limestone stalactites and crystalline rock formations.
