Coming back to this series now, this whole series was meant to be romance and comedy. It’s not only romance, it’s not only comedy, it is both. Keeping that in mind, now I can appreciate this series more. I used to think “the plot is so stupid”, but the stupidity of the series is where the comedy shines, and it was intentional. Now I do genuinely feel that this series is much more enjoyable. It’s a fun watch, a stupid one, but a genius stupid. Some series are just stupid-stupid, but the stupidity in this anime is actually genius.

I see why this hasn't been dubbed into English yet (French and German dubs available). The main girl is a transfer student from America, writes an English note and even speaks English at one point in the original. Would take 4Kids-level meddling to tell the same story properly in English (afaik the manga has been translated and I don't think the English manga changes those bits either, haven't read it yet)
