She's narcissistic, the name doesn't apply to all asians, only some, giggly asian girls and some goofy white guys who's overly into K-pop or something.
I would be down for Me So Hungry. Or for creative points a Vietnamese/Japanese hybrid restaurant called Miso Hungry. E: Realized someone already mentioned that later in the comments.
Vincisomething Same I don't see the problem because it's Asian owned. I'm not Asian so I can't really speak on this topic, but what's the problem with taking something stereotypical and changing the way people see it. Not the best with wording, but if she wants to reclaim something like that and make it her own, what's the problem?
I feel like the main people who don’t like the term “Yellow Fever” are Asian women cause guys from different races literally seek out Asian women and expect them to be submissive and petite because of the stereotype of Asian women. For instance Gina talked about how Asian fever is really stupid for the reasons I just stated.
@Sonix I honestly don't care about the restaurant... I'm just pointing out that the people who do take offense are those who don't like the idea of being courted for the sole fact that they're Asian. And idk why you brought other stereotypes in when we're talking about Asian women ones, but I'm pretty sure most blonde women don't like being associated with being stupid af. I just commented on the matter because in all JK news' anytime something has to do with people being offended they just breeze over it like there isn't any reason why people can be offended. And also to try to back up your point by saying that I'm "singling out Asians" when this whole video was about something associated with Asians was a really poor choice on your part.
I'm pretty certain if a restaurant named "Jungle Fever" or "White Nile" came out people would be offended... But again we're talking about an Asian woman who opened up a restaurant named "Yellow Fever" so I'm gonna keep talking about those who're offended by THIS RESTAURANT to specifically be ASIANS because they're what the phrase is associated with. I talked mainly about Asian Women because the only people who could say they took no offense by the term were Joe, Bart and David; all of whom are ASIAN MEN. I also focused on the fact that its women who are mainly going to be offended because many of them are tired of being treated and viewed like a piece of meat. And yes dipshit, I did answer your question when I said Blonde women don't like being courted just because the guy or girl sees the blonde woman as a stereotypical dumb blonde from old Hollywood movies. Maybe fucking read the WHOLE damn response first AND understand it before you try to respond by bringing things up that I've already touched upon. But I'm pretty sure you're not gonna read this far so... I'll just pray you understand something, anything about where I'm coming from.
Koda I think you’re misinterpreting what was written about stereotypes! When the comment talked about Asian women being expected to be submissive and petite, these are stereotypes attributed to the fetishism of Asian women! Not just random stereotypes :)
Koda The term yellow fever is becoming disgusting... There's a Korean variety show which showcase south Asian girls mainly from poor areas of vietnam and the philippines... These naive girls get talked into marrying a Korean guy, and sign into a marriage agreement with an old jerk with one arm and no legs...living in the beautiful rural area of south korea." What these girls don't know, however, is that these "korean-guys" are actually losers; and they were't able to find a wife... These girls, for some reason, are so brainwashed into thinking that marrying these Korean losers is equivalent to marrying a tall, handsome, rich Korean doctor whom they've seen countless times in k-dramas that they line-up across, and strip naked to showcase to these 50+ yr. old Korean losers... it's unreal. I now personally say go for Mexican girls; they're more down to earth and less "up-in-the-air," it seems. Most Asian girls I know aren't like this, I'll add... I sound like an ignorant asshole but it's the little southern asians with the excessive giggling, usually: from thailand, taiwanese (sorry, but I just state what I observe), and sometimes vietnamese people who are the biggest white-worshippers for some strange reason... And they try to bunch all Asian girls (Korean, japanese, northern chinese, etc.) as "all Asian girls." This becomes advertisement because we all know that these people aren't quiet-- both vocally and unfortunately visually as well, for some strange reason again... but this is just my humble opinion. Lastly, for all the little south asians (by my definition above) with the excessive giggling, sorry to burst your bubble, but PLEASE SEE UA-cam "ANATOMY OF THE HUMAN BODY" (minute 34: 08). This normal german or British guy (they don't say what but he's really standing there naked for educational purposes I guess-- no joke) has the smallest, narrowest dic on the planet (Erect or flaccid). END OF STORY. Actions speak louder than repeated words or survey done by goofy, insecure, dead guys.
I don't think you guys fully understand what fetishizing means...There's a difference between fetishizing and just being attracted to a certain group of people. You can still be attracted to Asians or black people and be respectful or see them as the individual they are (and not JUST some Asian or black person). But when it comes to fetishization, you're not doing that. You're only looking at them as some 2D *object* where you don't even care to know past the surface. Fetishizing people is actually degrading and harmful. It stems from a place of ignorance and thinking other races aren't individual people. Like Geo or Steve, they are attracted to Asians, but with them, they at least want to know the individual or the person beneath the surface. Bottom line- one's creepy, gross, and very narrow minded. The other is fine. Fetishizing basically means you only see them as one step above a sex toy (or even the same level as a sex toy), it doesn't mean you have "a preference." But also this lady is Asian, so she can use whatever Asian name she wants for her restaurant...
Honestly I was thinking that the whole conversation. Like fetishization is incredibly toxic and that’s totally cool if they don’t feel any particular type of way about it, but I’m not sure if they knew the full context of why people may have been upset. Like they said in the video, it’s not really for anyone else besides Asians and the restaurant owner to deem the name fit or unfit, so if she’s okay with it then more power to her!
Vincisomething the sad part is some giggly southern asian people and some goofy white people knowingly try to take advantage of this- just like a sex toy like you mention... it's disgusting (most of them are not like this, but I feel that a lot of desperate people who don't have the skill to get a one night stand are taking advantage of this... it's disgusting. But this is just my humble opinion.
I agree with joe. It’s just like someone black being able to use the n word. This is her word, and there was clearly no intent to insult anyone who is Asian CONSIDERING she herself is Asian. Like come on
not really the same thing, your example should have been a black person naming their restaurant the N word and that being okay just because they are black.
xZero9Ox that’s basically still their point, it’s an asian woman using “yellow fever” not any different to if a black person used the n word for anything else.
So you are saying it would be okay for a restaurant to be named the N word as long as the owner is black? I don't think so. The same argument could be said for this restaurant if there are some people who are not comfortable with the name.
key arca nah.... I’ve seen and heard white and black ppl get mad more about dumb shit. Just look at public freakout videos, it’s always a white or a black person.
Yellow has always been connected to cowardice, which is why in 'Western' movies when someone was called a yellow-bellied bastard, it was because they were cowards and ran away etc. Also Asians are known as yellow because we have more yellow undertones in our skin. I'm half-Thai and blessed with tans rather than sunburns. When my tan starts to fade, I notice the yellow undertones a lot more and I sometimes have a natural orangey tan if I'm in the sun too long.
Every non Asian person has yellow fever now. Have these people not gone to Anime Con!? And let's talk about boba. Back then ain't nobody know what boba was. Now we got Mexicans putting boba in their drinks (I've seen it), white people opening up boba shops (I've seen it), tons of non Asians going to boba shops. They didn't even know what taro was until they went to a boba shop. Omg, and Korean BBQ and hot pots!! Every non Asian person is all about that now! Back then, ain't nobody wanted yellow fever and now everybody is all about that yellow fever.
Lol your comment is funny to me because I actually don't like any of that stuff. It's rare that I'll watch anime. I'm not a fan of Asian food I don't like boba 😭😭😭 but you actually make a really good point. What you said isn't yellow fever but you made a good point.
IMO I think that most people find an issue with fetishizing a particular group of people because of the unrealistic, ridiculous stereotypes and expectations that come with these fetishes. In the case of Asian women, there are expectations for them to be completely submissive and petite. This is a problem because obviously not all Asian women are like this! Though it’s completely normal and natural to have a preference, there might be error in fetishizing a group of people no matter what race they are!
Allen's hit the nail on the head, they do news but they just cover it loosely. It's sort of like how the onion news network do fake news and make jokes and insult the theme of the topic for entertainment.
Honestly, I'm actually surprised that it wasn't white people trying to be offended for asian people! Usually, for these outrage things, I usually see white people being offended for another race.
Bart is stupid sometimes "wouldn't you wanted to be fettishised" 😂 my god why would you want to be wanted purely based on your colour thats sad as hell. preference and fetish are different btw
I've been a JK fan for the longest time especially JK News, and I love their rants more than the stories themselves. 99.9 percent of the time I don't give a fuck about whatever they're talking about I just like hearing about their stores.
This video, no matter how funny it is, was an Off the Record. Not in a bad way, but it just started hilariously off topic, and then at the very end it was a complete circle with a troll who made the comment I fucking love this show. Papa Bless
This place Is actually pretty cool and is pretty popular with the community around ive been here its cool idk why people mad. Only people on the internet are mad.
Why is Social Media the "word" for opinions??? Most people on social media are 24 and under and haven't been through shit. I'm only 20 and been through a lot I mean a lot and comments on the internet shouldn't be the word of all people
As an African raised in America, most of our ideals about race are similar to what JK expressed, however, perhaps due to my generation or the fact that I have an understanding of Black history, I see why racial issues are important. Essentially, I think it's smart to use the name yellow fever for a restaurant because it'll draw people in, but the name does involve fetishism of Asian people which is demeaning and gross but make your coin
R O here's the thing tho, if they're attempting to "reclaim" the word then it shouldn't bother period. If there's a word and a people claim they want to change the meaning then they shouldn't let it phase them and use it in a different way. To take the power away from a word one would have to pretty much not react to it because if they get up in arms about it then they clear2let the word have some sort of power over them. For example our people and the word nigga, nobody (for the most part) bats an eye when one of calls some one else a nigga but as soon as anyone who isn't black or black enough uses it all of a sudden it's a racial slur even if it's not used in such a way. As far the meaning behind the word I gotta say so what it's like if somebody has a resturant with a strerotype about black, whites, or Indians it's meant to be like a gag and doesn't have a derogatory connotation.
I agree with the JK crew on this but I don't feel they had to be as condescending about it as they were. I felt bad for poor rice daddy. I mean you can get the point across without attacking someones physical appearance but that's just the JK atmosphere and that's just my own opinion.
Idk, i've been watching them for like over 4 years and it used to bother me early on but i got over it. I'm not sure why this particular time is bothered me though. I'm not like angry about it, i mean i still laughed allot during the video and i'm not gonna stop watching.
Pretty sure the only thing that was said about his appearance was the, "satanic chinese man" comment. Most(if not all) of what they were saying was calling him out on his edgy and hypocritical bullshit.
I think people are more annoyed about the negative implications of yellow fever than anything. I'm sure most people who hear yellow fever think of a non-Asian male having a fetish for Asian women, there's nothing wrong with being overly loving with a specific race but it's the REASONS for that love that issue, at least that's what I think. I have friends who are Asian-female & a large majority of them don't like the whole 'yellow fever' solely because of the negative implications that are placed on them because they're seen as 'submissive' & 'worshiping the non-Asian man' type of deal. They've also said that it feels disrespectful & downgrading because they're seen less as human beings & more as just sexual objects (which eventually leads into equality for women but that's a whole other topic all together). Don't get me wrong not everyone who has 'yellow fever' has the same negative desires from yellow fever but from what I've seen & what my Asian-female friends have said most non-Asian males who have yellow fever tend to have yellow fever more so because of all the negative implications.
Soul The sad part is usually some giggly southern Asian person-- Thailand, Taiwanese, or sometimes vietnamese and some goofy white person with raging hormone or who is overly into kpop or something are taking advantage of this, maybe because they don't have the skills to get a one night stand-- it's disgusting... And they try to pass themselves as "all Asian girl." But not all asians are created equally...
JK needs to chill with the „Millenials are sensitive, everyone is mad about this!!!!“ type articles cause everyone on the internet complains about anything and some bored journalist wants write a clickbaity story, like just cause a few people are whiny doesn’t mean this entire generation is uber ~liberal~
I could careless about this restaurant name but, yellow fever doesn't match a restaurant name. It sounds like a department store, hardware store, or hell even a club
Jirred Vang Exactly...some people are just retarded when picking out restaurant names, which can stick with you for life...it's just my humble opinion again.
lllDEONTElll Exactly...Some people are retarded when coming-up with restaurant names. It's catchy and I'd probably eat there if the food is good; but it still doesn't change it from being retarded... just my humble opinion again.
You guys are so slow. I don’t think this one rice daddy dude was upset. Did anyone else say anything? Because it just looks like he wanted to make a dad joke... look at his profile... he wants to make dad jokes about Asians... that’s what I get from it.
yellow is a warm tone, most warm tone foundations are yellow but if you're having trouble figuring it out try to pick up some yellow mixing drops to make any shade match. face atelier and makeup forever have some good one's. I've been a mua for 10 years and have worked on many Asian clients and many Asians have more of an olive undertone though so maybe try that as well.
I love JK, but I feel what would make these episodes so much better is if they wouldn't sit around complaining for over half the episode about people "complaining" and if they addressed the articles with an open mind and wouldn't all fall into agreeance with one another. Also, SOME black people have taken the N-word twisted it into a word of different meaning and made it our own, there is some black people within my very own community who feel as if the word has no place anywhere and shouldn't be used in any form and that for instance is a debate amongst black people which should be had in a civil fashion. Being black myself, I don't agree with every black person and we aren't all monolithic, so to assume we all take that word and use it to make it our own is false. There is many black people across all ages, especially the elders, who feel there are more constructive words that could be used. The black people who do use some variation of the N-word can't completely dismiss those with a variation in opinion and vice-versa.
Wow Tiff derailed everyone from the article
while Joe was trying to get everyone back. Never thought I'd see this day
Right?
Joe is right: as an Asian she's taking the power from that word and using it for herself. Good for her if she profits and succeeds.
Why did Geo say Asian is an ethnicity? And are Arabs even "yellow"? Better yet... are Turks white? (Kidding.) Getting crazy tbh.
She's narcissistic, the name doesn't apply to all asians, only some, giggly asian girls and some goofy white guys who's overly into K-pop or something.
HAHAHA I love how Tiffany just derailed the entire episode and was trying so desperately to get them back on track LOL
I love how it takes 6 minutes for them to start on the story
Scott Shannon thats why i love jknews. I dont watch it for the news, i watch it for them getting off topic
lol yeah this episodes sooooo funny
I'm ginger but I guess I can't start a bakery called ginger bread
Eliseo Sanchez no 😐
Sven Last Name not gonna lie, i would go there daily. Gingerbread sound great as a bakery.
I'd come there everyday just to talk to you
Are you naming one of the cookies "no soul"? If so I'm stopping by everyday, just to buy a batch if it.
DO IT BET YOU WONT😂
I would love to go to a shop called “Me love you long time ”
hackonovastreet juarez Ass I was go say that 🤤
i want a massage parlor to do that. would be the funniest thing on earth if it happens.
I would be down for Me So Hungry. Or for creative points a Vietnamese/Japanese hybrid restaurant called Miso Hungry.
E: Realized someone already mentioned that later in the comments.
Yea but what would that shop offer?
Is that a sex shop?
I mean if there was a African style restaurant called Jungle Fever I wouldn't be mad. But i know America would burn if that happened lol
If it was black-owned, totally fine tbh.
Musa Kamara frfr. This is why I don't like living in the US. In other countries everything is more chill
S D maybe so but alot of places dont have america's history. that why comparing the us to other places might be a bit off

Allen Silva I lived in Brazil, multiple parts of Europe and in Saudi Arabia. Yes, yes I have traveled😂 Have a good day
"Were gonna send so many followers to this guy.. You're welcome!" Love it Tiff. 😂
Joe is getting annoyed lmao
People are just so sensitive.
The irony of Bart judging people's eyes 😂😩

Yeah all of the guys are saying how they don't give a shit when it doesn't really affect them in the first place.
I think my favorite part was when they were ignoring David😂
hes like MARIEl HAs BEEEEEN THerEEEEE
I've actually eaten at the original Yellow Fever (10/10 would recommend) and man no one had a problem with the name before. This is so stupid.

I think Tiff meant Rose McGowan
Allen Silva And they said Ruby Rose isn't bald
Demi Moore’s big ass titties in GI Jane 👌🏼
Joe's "dear diary" fucking killed me
Tiff trying to pronounce the word right is so cute haha
Tiff and Joe switched roles today 😂😂😂😂
In Brisbane Australia there is actually a restaurant called Long Time haha it has amazing food
Im pretty sure its mostly asian people complaining. Those asian instagram pages are forever complaining about fetishes
Tbh I figured it was whites getting outraged. But after the dress issue I don't know anymore.
Yea they always are, i always assume theyre just 13 but idk anymore
Mostly dudes that never got vagine in hs, at least not the ones they wanted. Now they found something to blame but themselves.
key arca nah.... I’ve seen and heard white and black ppl get mad more about dumb shit. Just look at public freakout videos, it’s always a white or a black person.

lifewithstaph that's not Yellow Fever, hon. Lol Yellow Fever is sexual stereotyping of asian females as submissive and easy.

Soooo, are you saying we should stop drinking boba or...
Meanwhile over in asia they're lowkey copying off the west with hip hop, style somewhat, etc so I'd say it's even.
Joe and David derail almost every video but the fewwwww times tiff does it everyone gets upset lmao love you guys though
Thank you. Almost died laughing as I was drinking my tea

Who needs sleep when you got jknews 😍😍
Me.
Btw it’s Ruby Rose
Kaylee Iacino I thought they were talking about salice rose, for a minute.
They figured that out in the video
Yeah i figured that out i just happen to reply that 1 second before Geo figured it out lol....
It took me a while to figure out who they were trying to figure out
I thought it was Rose McGowan
Love you guys 😁
This episode is crazzzzzzyyyy.
I’m surprised Bart didn’t hit ‘em a “what’s wrong with fetishising?”
Edit: oh I guess he didn’t need to
Lately jk been downplaying all their articles, there is no real conversation happening, they are just trying to out edge each other,
Who actually comes here to listen to the news ?? They just use the news article to generate topics to talk about.
xlllNIGHTMARElllx Exactly. They mind as well change the channel name to JKTalks rather than “News”
Allen's hit the nail on the head, they do news but they just cover it loosely. It's sort of like how the onion news network do fake news and make jokes and insult the theme of the topic for entertainment.
Bro, there plenty of news outlet for that.
🤣😂joe saying you got caught you got caught
I love how hard it was for them to stay on topic 😂
I actually lover this channel they make me laugh so much (found off fbe )
Honestly, I'm actually surprised that it wasn't white people trying to be offended for asian people! Usually, for these outrage things, I usually see white people being offended for another race.
Cristian Gutierrez what else can they do with all the white guilt
KT mcgoogle i mean with all this shit yall do...
WOW! David backed down so quick when rice guy was brought up
3 minutes into the article and I've never been so confused by JKNews before...
Bart is stupid sometimes "wouldn't you wanted to be fettishised" 😂 my god why would you want to be wanted purely based on your colour thats sad as hell. preference and fetish are different btw

As far the meaning behind the word I gotta say so what it's like if somebody has a resturant with a strerotype about black, whites, or Indians it's meant to be like a gag and doesn't have a derogatory connotation.
dude here in Aus, we have a shop called ‘Battered Wife, Fish and Chip shop’ we accepted it a long time ago
I love that you guys aren’t overly PC. All of you feel like real down to earth peeps.
Tyler Russin recently bart wont say down syndrome or a black person
i googled rice and immediately got ricedaddy7 lmao jknews gang quick wit it
I drink a shot every time David pulls his shirt or says: YUH KNO WHA I MEAN?
I live in Long Beach ❤️
Yes I live in Pomona
I 100percent agree with David.
Totally agree with joe. Let people like who they want and mind your own business.
I just noticed but, what happened to Julia???
Pfftt how about how all the multi racial and mixed people feel about fetishization. SMH
That ricedaddy dude is cringy AF though. Gives us asians a bad rep. I'm glad he got roasted.
Musa Kamara Ay another Musa watching Jk
Pretty sure the only thing that was said about his appearance was the, "satanic chinese man" comment. Most(if not all) of what they were saying was calling him out on his edgy and hypocritical bullshit.
Corona makes this retroactively hilarious.
I was yelling at the fucking screen " RUBYYY FUCKING ROSEEEE"
That damn Christina Aguilera popping out of a bottle making people forget their other two wishes and ish.
Japanese restaurant with a college party theme called “KaRAAGER Chicken”
lol I love David trying to stay neutral cause he knows people that are mad about this ;D
The 25% of fucking around became 50% this video xD
Can y’all stop comparing women on how hot they are. This is why celeb women are so insecure.
Did they miss that he's following 50.4k people
I totally agree with Bart and Joe about Brittney Spears face it also reminds me of Drew Barrymore
LOL Its funny how Joes always getting mad at Tiff for getting off topic these days, roles have flipped
Barts face when he says "what is she a monk"
yellow comes from the Yellow Peril movement from back in the day
Still love my city
"I like a fuckin nice ass, why does that matter??" ~ Joe Jo 2018
Thank God they said nice things about this restaurant
As a girl with hooded eyelids, having it be called 'the opposite of upsyndrome' is sort of hurtful
I don't think its good to fetishize(You're Welcome Tiff) an entire race its kinda weird and seems dumb if you think about it...
I thought they already covered this before but maybe it was Wong Fu
Tram Nguyen I haven't seen anything from wrong fu in a long time-- Phil started to get kind of weird...
Anyway, you probably saw it there...
I get you. Sometimes the content gets bland too.
I want Julia back
Hey! im from Pomona Cali too!
Joe always cracking me up 😂
Not racist if it's a Asian owner.
Skip to 5:50 to hear about the article
Did anyone notice Ricedaddy's tweet that said "geh-seckie" lol?
A.D.D to the MAX!
Joe at the end omg that was genius.
JK can't talk about being edgy when they do that to. Anyway white people should stop complaining and help instead.
i didn't even knew yellow fever was a thing before the video
IM MAD CUSE I HAVR UPSYNDROME BART😤😤😠😠😠😠IM CRWING
I could careless about this restaurant name but, yellow fever doesn't match a restaurant name. It sounds like a department store, hardware store, or hell even a club
Jirred Vang Exactly...some people are just retarded when picking out restaurant names, which can stick with you for life...it's just my humble opinion again.
I call them "bull dog eyes" and i agree with mr Kwans statement.
"i don't give a fuck because I'm not Asian" How 90% Americans feel about minority issues.
I'm half black and Asian lmao
Me LUV You LongTime is a good name for a brothel 😂😂😂😂
lllDEONTElll Exactly...Some people are retarded when coming-up with restaurant names.
Yellow because we have a yellow undertone. I buy foundation that says cool tones and warm toned and I'm like, where's the yellow tones?
lifewithstaph sameeee
yellow is a warm tone, most warm tone foundations are yellow but if you're having trouble figuring it out try to pick up some yellow mixing drops to make any shade match. face atelier and makeup forever have some good one's. I've been a mua for 10 years and have worked on many Asian clients and many Asians have more of an olive undertone though so maybe try that as well.
lifewithstaph
Asians have yellow or brown undertones, while white people usually have pinkish undertones.
Yellow us a warm tone bruh. I'm a guy and I know that
I love JK, but I feel what would make these episodes so much better is if they wouldn't sit around complaining for over half the episode about people "complaining" and if they addressed the articles with an open mind and wouldn't all fall into agreeance with one another.
Nah I don't like being fetishized but I do think being outraged over the name is wasting your time lol
oh shit it's crazy to see a local story. this shop opened recently and i checked it out last week.
I am glad that I am not the only who wasn't offended.
I want to make a JKNews kinda podcast but with my fellow Puerto Ricans ♥
